Joan of Arc was trans????

It's Schools Diversity Week this week. There has been no mention of any kind of diversity other than LGBTQIA+. Heavy on the T. We've been reminded every day for weeks about this.

Today's update says Joan of Arc was trans because she didn't dress like a woman. There's even a discussion on the pronouns she (sorry, he/they) would have used. Silly me, I though Joan was just a woman who was fed up with the limitations her sex imposed on her. Clearly short hair + trousers = man.

I'm all for showing young people a diverse range of role models, but transing people who lived several hundred years ago is not all that helpful.

@MarshmallowSwede

They have also been trying to trans Viking women which I greatly resent. Viking women were strong and went out in raids as well. They were not men. Women participated in all aspects of Viking life and I’m sick to death of hearing about Viking women identifying as men. That’s biggest load of nonsense I’ve ever heard. It’s common knowledge in Sweden and Scandinavia in general that Viking women also went out in roads. So how come whenever Brits come across a Viking grave if there is a female she must be trans? All one has to do is ask a Scandinavian and we would tell you.

How about Viking women and Scandinavian women have always been strong and it was nothing wrong if a woman wanted to go out on a raid. Granting she was not pregnant of course. She was a woman who was also a Viking.. and Vikings raid. Men and women alike.

You're kidding?

Because if you're not trembling in a corner somewhere you're not a woman...?

Just unacceptable misogyny

GoingGently · 23/06/2021 19:06

@MarshmallowSwede yep. But the dictionary first

MrsBunHat · 23/06/2021 19:07

So true turquoise. What about rasputin? He wore a dress and necklace, had long hair, and an Alex Drummond beard.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 23/06/2021 19:08

@marshmallowswede

One must assume that the converse is also true, so if a man grows his hair he becomes a women, as he does if he wears a kilt! Or earrings?

No I’m very serious I’m afraid. My husband and I are both Swedish and we were reading a story about a Viking grave found in the UK. They seemed so shocked one was a woman. Then they started in on the we don’t know how she identified. We both were shocked and disgusted really. It’s well documented in Scandinavia that Viking women sometimes also went raiding, so how all of a sudden would she be a man?

It’s so offensive and sexist it’s ridiculous. Not to mention offensive to Scandinavian people as well. We know women participated in Viking raids. Vikings were not only men. So to try to erase our history for this twisted agenda is not appreciated at all.

Believe me, we get asked all the time what is going on here by friends and family.

MarshmallowSwede · 23/06/2021 19:11

Well I will make sure I’ll let everyone in Sweden know that Vikings with long hair were actually women. Grin

Whatsnewpussyhat · 23/06/2021 19:12

I thought the DfE said schools were not allowed to teach that those who defy sex roll stereotypes=trans. Not reinforce the stupid idea that a woman who has short hair must be a man.

MarshmallowSwede · 23/06/2021 19:12

Don’t priests wear long robes that look like dresses? So is the pope a woman? Just want to make sure I don’t misgender anyone. Grin

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 23/06/2021 19:14

So a strong woman has just simply got to be a man. (Either starting out as one or ending up as one) By hook or by crook. Or by cock.

Alrighty then.

What a pile of mince.

MarshmallowSwede · 23/06/2021 19:15

Nope! She had short hair and wore trousers! Clearly a man. And she probably did math! A man and a witch!

GoingGently · 23/06/2021 19:16

@MarshmallowSwede can you take me back there with you? Bloody love Vikings. And sense.

MaleficentsCrow · 23/06/2021 19:22

Marshmallow

Us Celtic women liked the odd battle too, perhaps us Welsh women are just men 🤣 I mean we fight like our fathers and drink like our brothers so there we go then, the entire Welsh population are men. And we use Celtic witchcraft to populate our nation 🤣

MarshmallowSwede · 23/06/2021 19:24

See there.. doesn’t it feel good to be who you truly are? A man.. Grin

I have never been to Wales but if I had known it was nothing but men I would have been right there. Grin

Letsgetreadytocrumble · 23/06/2021 19:28

What a load of utter sexist SHIIIIIIIITE!

How is this stuff getting out there? Have people literally lost their minds or what?

MarshmallowSwede · 23/06/2021 19:29

Sweden is a sensible and very rational place. No one has time for foolishness. And we value a high level of social cohesion so everyone wants to get along. It is a nice place.

No one is definitely going to be tolerating this nonsense there.

And if I really think about it I’ve not ever seen any trans or anyone openly gay in Sweden. Of course they exist but we just don’t have this “do as I want” attitude. You don’t want to be the centre of attention.

I will not raise my child here because I can’t be sure what propaganda they are going to have thrown at them at school.

Tbh .. I’m ready to go back. My husband is hating it more and more. He was never paying attention to this sort of thing but now we are having a baby, he is disturbed and seems frantic for us to get out of here. Grin

ItsyBitsyTeeny · 23/06/2021 19:30

Woman steps outside of extremely strict, oppressive patriarchal expectations of her; must be a man?

Very progress. Much diverse.

(Is the slightly more sophisticated version of my instinctive response which is simply, "Fuck Off".)

We aren’t even especially affectionate people. So even heterosexual couples don’t really hold hands. You definitely won’t see a middle aged trans man in a mini skirt walking down the street. It would cause so much chaos on the street that I think the police would come.

Really anything that’s attention seeking is looked down upon in Sweden. We just want everything to be calm and normal and everyone to have a nice life. Without stepping on anyone’s toes and demanding women stay in their place of course. That’s not tolerated.

Hazycoffeek · 23/06/2021 19:36

@Greenandcabbagelooking

I totally understood that you can’t post screenshots of the materials, to protect your job.

But are you able to say the name of the organisation which provided the training materials, or advised your senior management team to teach this rubbish?

MarshmallowSwede · 23/06/2021 19:38

The takeaway here is ladies If you wear trousers then you’re a man.

Basically if you’re doing anything except making your husband or partner a sandwich with your mouth shut (not allowed an opinion and you’re much prettier when silent), then you’re a man.

So no point in looking for badass women in history ladies. They are really all men.

If a woman did anything to get any sort of notice, then she is a man.

So if you want to be someone ladies… just be a man!

OhDear2200 · 23/06/2021 19:38

The problem is Joan didn’t wear any lipstick, so clearly did not identify as a woman.

Or maybe a historian has found her birth record and discovered she was assigned the wrong gender a birth?

nomorehiccups · 23/06/2021 19:38

It's possible that she heard voices that told her to dress as a man - she believed that she heard the voice of God. It's one theory for why she continued to dress as a man in prison.

Surely if she was trans she wouldn't say that dress was a 'small matter' - it would be a very important matter.

I hardly know where to begin with this.
