Girlguides - is it a lost cause?

Having pulled both of my daughters out based on their switching of gender/sex and what Myself and my husband believe are strong safeguarding concerns as a result as well as the general erosion of girls’ rights as a result I’m wondering if it’s now a lost cause? Is there any chance at all of them being challenged or is that it now?

I am really hoping that Katie's case will give them the wake up call needed. It is top down but there's lots of enthusiastic cheerleading too. They need to balance inclusion and safeguarding better it seems.

AnyOldPrion · 22/11/2021 18:30

What the jeffing hell are GG thinking?

I don’t think they are thinking.

Either those at the top have some kind of personal interest in male people having access to young girls, or they are so blinded by their desire to “do the right thing by these poor misunderstood marginalized people” that they are wholly unable to see what is being paraded right in front of them.

Not sure which it is, because the latter seems even more unlikely than the former.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/11/2021 18:31

Wasn't TRA Jane Fae advising GG at one point? And they held a Stonewall panel with Aimee Challenor and Phil/Pippa Bunce around this time?

Clymene · 22/11/2021 18:35

Is everyone in GG naive enough that they don't realise what the Twitter handle is about? Confused surely not

Phobiaphobic · 22/11/2021 18:36

One of the interesting things about being gender critical, is that despite believing you cannot reach a higher peak, that you're at the very top of the GC Everest, something will come along and peak you further. That kinky bloke in GG just did it to me again. What the f&*$! is wrong with people who think this is okay????

I believe so. Presumably current events are the direct result of the advice given?

Clymene · 22/11/2021 18:44

Given they are not terribly far from one another geographically, I wouldn't be surprised if they knew one another

I haven't seen this. And I don't think I want to know. I've had enough.
Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/11/2021 18:51

Is that really it? I thought it was a joke!

MrsFin · 22/11/2021 19:57

I don't know what the Twitter handle is about!
Can someone explain please??

This!

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 22/11/2021 20:05

Is the twitter handle something reassuring like we all just need a little cup of tea?

I think it might actually be their name - or a previous name. A 'Monica Tetley' signed one of Aimee Challenor's open letters, and it seems like a decent bet it's the same person.
Clymene · 22/11/2021 20:14

It's not their surname.

I feel quite faint. I used to be a GG Patrol Leader.

SammyScrounge · 22/11/2021 20:49

You sure? It' s not so easy to oust trans.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 22/11/2021 21:50

Has there been any response from GG yet? Maybe something along the lines of the NSPCC model? ie
"You're all bigots for objecting to this person's preferences for sharing revealing photos of their body, their fetishes and their guns. This has no impact on their suitability to work with young girls and boys. Transphobes the lot of you" ?

Melroses · 22/11/2021 22:05

Previous surname.

Ah! I see. Thank you

JustcameoutGC · 22/11/2021 22:11

It is so sickening and infuriating. It is one thing appropriating womanhood, but to then prance around in cheap fake leather skirts, with your fake tits hanging out and be celebrated for it, yet a natal woman doing the same thing would be pilloried.

The fucking bare faced double standards and naked misogyny

EsmaCannonball · 22/11/2021 22:15

Anyone have any idea about the guns? Even if they are replicas or airguns they must surely set off some red flags with the GG. What about the picture with the sword?

AnyOldPrion · 22/11/2021 22:30

Hopefully the fact that their rules have now been extensively broken might give pause, though I won’t hold my breath.

Is this on any mainstream news outlet? Girlguiding has completely lost the plot if they don't act quickly here.
