Thanks mnhq

PotholeHellhole · 27/03/2021 17:11

A topless swimming session for people who considered themselves transgender and were aged between 8 and 25.

What the actual hell. What the actual hell.

WarriorN · 27/03/2021 17:16

I struggled to stomach that article

PotholeHellhole · 27/03/2021 17:19

It just gets worse and worse. When, but when, in any other circumstance, would you approve a swimming session for such a wide age range?

Mumofgirlswholiketoplaywithmud · 27/03/2021 17:29

Oh that is super creepy, and exploitative of children they have probably also told are not "understood" by their parents, "come and join your glitter family" etc etc
WarriorN · 27/03/2021 17:34

Just fell down a rabbit hole via 🥝 and found something called wikifur. A Wikipedia for furries.

Stopping there.

WarriorN · 27/03/2021 17:35

I remember the swimming thing but not the other details. Getting themselves (singular) in to a girls school to talk about feminism is another wtf of that article.

MaudTheInvincible · 27/03/2021 18:03

WarriorN I've just this week started reading threads on that site. It has been massively educational for me. I did not realise just how much I didn't know.

Awful

"It’s chilling to see institution after institution giving him access to children because he had a child who was seen as belonging to the new sacred caste."

Very much this

January 2019 previous thread:

"11 October is marked as the International Day of the Girl. The day aims to highlight and address the needs and challenges girls face while promoting girls’ empowerment and the fulfilment of their human rights. Every year on this day Eltham Hill holds its Young Women’s Conference. Speakers and workshop helped highlight issues faced by girls.

Our speakers included Gabby Edlin (founder of Bloody Good Period) Amaal Said, (Artist and Poet), Dave Myers (Joint Head of the Forced Marriage Unit) and Aimee Challenor (Stonewall Trans Advisory Group).

Aimee Challenor talked about her experiences as a young transwoman and explained the work that the Stonewall Trans Advisory Group is doing to aid and amplify trans voices. Aimee, along with Ms Zionts, led a workshop that examined whether transwomen were included enough in current feminist movements and led discussions on how we could work to promote more inclusive notions of feminism."

As can be seen on the thread, the SLT/Governors were contacted with concerns.

I attended a really interesting talk before Covid about how the male world of tech will disadvantage women for years to come because they have the power to shape the platforms and apps that dominate our lives. Panellists were arguing for coding to be on the curriculum to ensure that girls and women see it as a viable career option. I know it's been discussed on here before, but the power concentrated in small special interest groups (of men) is concerning.
Blaire White on Aimee/Reddit
Blaire is so sensible!

The next video that came up after that was this one:

Which points out that Jessica Yaniv was also allegedly trying to host topless swimming parties with kids/teens. How did JY and baloo chandler come up with the same idea?

Mumofgirlswholiketoplaywithmud · 27/03/2021 21:50

Answer: it's probably a creepy thing that creepy people can attempt to do and appear innocent

R0wantrees · 27/03/2021 21:54

Women such as Lisa Muggeridge raised the alarm about Aimee Challenor in 2018 with much better analysis than White:
Crikey. She has said so many things that should have been said by all the grown-ups who interacted with AC.
Hibari · 27/03/2021 22:00

Blair White is an alt-lite antifeminist and well proven liar. A lot of her early content centred of "feminist cringe."
Take anything she says with a hefty dose of salt.

aliasundercover · 27/03/2021 22:04

Really Hibari? All this info available to you, and your conclusion is that Blair White is the problem.

Wilful blindness.

Yea, the points Blaire are making is that the community need to distance themselves from these individuals and hold them accountable (ie. Not be moderators of team Reddit groups)

There seems to be this repeat thinking that you cannot listen to anyone's thoughts on one issue if you don't agree with all their thinking on all other issues. Is this the way we do critical thinking these days? Check the political stance of an individual before working out whether we will listen. Ie. I disagree with Blaire on gun control therefore I can't agree on stating predatory individuals shouldn't be given access to children?
