Trans rights are a part of women's rights

Trans people don't negatively affect women's rights. They are a part of the women's rights. Both trans men and trans women experience oppression based on being female/a woman.

OK then.

EdgeOfACoin · 04/03/2021 09:20

You see, you're going to have to define 'woman' in order to have a meaningful conversation about this.

What is a woman?

What do I, as a biological adult human female have in common with all other women and transwomen that I don't have in common with any men or transmen?

I actually agree that both transmen and transwomen experience oppression due to either being female or presenting as female.

@EdgeOfACoin commonly a woman is someone who is born female as assigns themselves to being female, however you can be born female and not identify with being a woman and you can be born male and identify with being a woman.

A woman is someone with she/her pronouns and who identifies themself with the female sex.

Bats are a part of wombats.

Winesalot · 04/03/2021 09:23

No. Transmen experience oppression based on being a female. Transwomen experience some sexism that is similar to that of females.

Trans people require and should want their own protections that are specific to them. Please tell us why you are not working towards these.

Why are you trying to modify women's rights to fit your purpose?

risefromyourgrave · 04/03/2021 09:23

If transmen are men then how do they fit into women’s rights in the TRA world?

I agree that they should, as they are adult human females, but surely that is a bigoted view to TRAs?

UpDownQuark · 04/03/2021 09:23

First sentence: disagree
Second sentence: partially agree, as transmen are female, yes.
Third sentence: partially agree, as some male trans people will be disadvantaged if they are assumed to be female, and female trans people will be disadvantaged by actually having female bodies.

There’s still a big difference between male and female bodies though.

McDuffy · 04/03/2021 09:24

What was wrong with Minge's post?!

FlibbertyGiblets · 04/03/2021 09:24

Just checking my understanding of your posit, if I may?

Transmen are women and transwomen are women, in your opinion? Just clarifying this. Thank you.

Redrunbluerun · 04/03/2021 09:25

In sport, women’s rights ARE affected by trans rights.
Weight lifting records being smashed by women, born as men, and the physiological advantages that comes with.
Ribs being broken because a woman, born as a man, tackles a woman, born as a woman and destroys her.
What about my rights as a sports woman? Genuine question. Do I not count anymore?

@Nellodee

How does one 'present' as female?

If an adult human female dresses in men's clothes and has short hair, is she presenting as female and is she still oppressed?

Mummyoflittledragon · 04/03/2021 09:25

Well done. You got affect correct this time.

Anyway as I was going to say on the now closed thread, a woman’s place is in the wrong, definitely.... and by woman, I mean the natal kind.

BlackWaveComing · 04/03/2021 09:25

This is tedious.
OP, an assertion is not an argument.
Try again.

(On second thoughts, maybe not....)

acatcalledjohn · 04/03/2021 09:25

A woman is someone with she/her pronouns and who identifies themself with the female sex.

So someone with a female reproductive system then.

I'm glad you clarified that.

ASugar · 04/03/2021 09:26

@risefromyourgrave because they deal with biological female issue such as being victims of FGM, sexual assault and more.

@acatcalledjohn Incorrect. You do not need to be biologically female to be a woman.

The last thread by this poster had to be closed, this one is liable to be closed or deleted.

Anyway, as the OP consists merely of assertions, I think perhaps it's reasonable to do something similar.

I'm going with
Woman: adult human female

The op seems unaware of this simple fact, hence is a bit confused.

Xanthangum · 04/03/2021 09:27

Transmen are women and transwomen are women

Everyone's a woman, baby, that's the truth 🎵

We've moved further north this winter and I'm surprised that the snowdrops are still in full force. No I'm not on the wrong thread, just bored, very bored
