Trans rights are a part of women's rights

Trans people don't negatively affect women's rights. They are a part of the women's rights. Both trans men and trans women experience oppression based on being female/a woman.

Hi all. We closed the other thread whilst we got in touch with the OP off the boards - we'll keep it closed because this one is essentially the same discussion.

We're fine with all points of view as long as they're expressed within the bounds of civil debate.

Hi

We're seeing a lot of commentary here about @ASugar (hello by the way) being here to gather screenshots for Twitter. We're also seeing her being directly misgendered a lot - that's against our rules so we'd like posters who are doing that to stop, please.

There's always going to be an interaction between Twitter and Mumsnet on this issue. God knows we wish sometimes that there weren't, but there it is.

We don't think it's necessarily a sign that someone isn't here in good faith - plenty of MNers screenshot MN stuff and put it on other networks - but of course it can be.

The OP is posting within our Guidelines and engaging in a discussion with other users. As per other things we've said over the past few weeks, that means we'd expect her presence here to be respected and (if you're posting on this thread) her viewpoints engaged with in the usual spirit of our site and our Guidelines.

Thanks

MNHQ

@Cailleach1

I just demanded my pronouns be validated too? Why can someone come on demanding their pronouns be validated and they are respected by MNHQ but mine aren't?
We think that essentially making fun of someone's pronouns (and thus their deeply-felt sense of identity) is just not likely to take us anywhere closer to reasonable and civil conversations.

@andyoldlabour

MNHQ - could you please tell me why my comment at 10:23:28 today was deleted?
For making assertions that the OP isn't here in good faith - essentially, troll-hunting. Please have a read of the post in which she acknowledges and apologises for her post yesterday and explains it was badly deployed sarcasm. We're taking that in good faith.

RowanMumsnet · 04/03/2021 11:09

@Kettlingur

Just for clarification, is it now "in the spirit" to post threads aimed at grabbing screenshots for a twitter audience outside MN?
The OP has apologised for that and explained it was sarcasm.

@Strikemepink

I’ll hazard a guess I was deleted for troll hunting, which wasn’t my intention. I don’t mean that the OP isn’t here in good faith. I meant quite literally not answering / responding to points raised.
Your post spoke about 'tedious shit' and we saw it as 'chasing off' - which means making a discussion thread a fundamentally hostile place for a lone/minority voice. The OP is one person and has, to our eyes, engaged quite a lot given that she's on the receiving end of several hundred questions and objections.

We're sure everyone has had the experience of being a lone voice in a high-emotion online discussion and lots of us will hopefully understand it's a lonely and difficult place to be. We think it's important that there's a diversity of opinions represented on this issue (as on many others) and we're committed, where we think someone is posting in good faith, to helping them to stick around.
