Trans rights are a part of women's rights

Trans people don't negatively affect women's rights. They are a part of the women's rights. Both trans men and trans women experience oppression based on being female/a woman.

I'm confused by some of the deletions on this thread, I've been reading and can't see why some of the posts were deletion worthy. Confused

I also think the OP isn't here to discuss, they clearly explained their motives on the last thread.

lightand · 04/03/2021 09:41

I think the more threads ASugar posts, the better.

This thread will go soon though wont it.

mycatisgivingyouthefinger · 04/03/2021 09:42

@Ereshkigalangcleg

This thread is already Swiss cheese.

Amazing how quickly Mumsnet are on it with threads like these Hmm

MichaelMumsnet · 04/03/2021 09:42

Hi all. We closed the other thread whilst we got in touch with the OP off the boards - we'll keep it closed because this one is essentially the same discussion.

We're fine with all points of view as long as they're expressed within the bounds of civil debate.
@risefromyourgrave because they deal with biological female issue such as being victims of FGM, sexual assault and more.
And THIS is why sex equality and gender equality should be entirely different fights. Don't conflate the two because talking about an inequality based entirely on western societal stereotypes is incredibly regressive and, dare I say it, fucking entitled.

ErrolTheDragon · 04/03/2021 09:43

@Pagwatch

There is something deeply unpleasant about people using FGM as a mechanism to bait women.
Yes, and odd too as obviously it affects transmen - or rather, girls who may later want to identify as men - no one thinks otherwise. Not sure what the OPs point was.

@Alltheprettyseahorses

I understand that. However the way I see it is someone living in country can't claim it is their ethnicity, however they can become residents of that country and be recognized as a citizen. That's the way I see it. So are trans women biologically female? No. However they are women of a trans experience.

I thought that needing a diagnosis of gender dysphoria was no longer needed?

Isn't it transphobic to say someone needs a 'diagnosis'?

Women's rights are human rights.
Trans rights are human rights.
Sex is real.

Colonisers. Akin to

Nellodee · 04/03/2021 09:45

You’re right, edge. I was sloppy with my usage of words. Should I have said “feminine presenting”?

Jumpintothefire · 04/03/2021 09:45

Naw OP . Just naw . Not buying it
Don't wish anyone harm but you can't just say you are a woman if you are born male .

Sophoclesthefox · 04/03/2021 09:46
@EdgeOfACoin They are given a diagnosis of Gender Dysphoria and live as a woman. Plus having medical professionals assist with this.
You’re aware that it is considered transphobic in many circles to suggest that a diagnosis of gender dysphoria is a pre requisite of being trans? It is medicalising and gate keeping.

I am quite tickled that the other thread appeared to open up only long enough to let in one more post on the affect/effect debate, which couldn’t be more mumsnet if it was wearing a scarf and cancelling a cheque Grin

No, they don't. Well, transmen do, but transwomen certainly don't.
ASugar · 04/03/2021 09:46

@AaronPurr It was sarcasm in the last post and the MumsNet administration worker agreed on that.

I was busy watching the JR on another thread, so missed all the hoohaa. I'm wondering if this thread is the same and if it is, all I can say to everyone, you are MN heros for sticking in here for the sake of education and fact Flowers. I'm off

TeaAndStrumpets · 04/03/2021 09:46

I never know whether I should say crumpets or pikelets but I always go with pikelets because that's what my mum called them.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 04/03/2021 09:46

@BlackWaveComing

The poster is here to get screenshots for Twitter. That's the definition of bad-faith. Frankly, I think threads like this should just be closed. They waste women's time. It's slightly bizarre that apparently MN invited, and are happy to host bad-faith posters in FWR, but that's their business.
Exactly

And threads have been deleted for that before

SLAM DUNK!!!

OP accuses MN of transphobia, ends up falling into own transphobia trap!

poshme · 04/03/2021 09:47

poshme · 04/03/2021 09:47
