Trans rights are a part of women's rights

Trans people don't negatively affect women's rights. They are a part of the women's rights. Both trans men and trans women experience oppression based on being female/a woman.

I'm confused by some of the deletions on this thread, I've been reading and can't see why some of the posts were deletion worthy.

I also think the OP isn't here to discuss, they clearly explained their motives on the last thread.

I think the more threads ASugar posts, the better.

Hi all. We closed the other thread whilst we got in touch with the OP off the boards - we'll keep it closed because this one is essentially the same discussion.

We're fine with all points of view as long as they're expressed within the bounds of civil debate.

And THIS is why sex equality and gender equality should be entirely different fights. Don't conflate the two because talking about an inequality based entirely on western societal stereotypes is incredibly regressive and, dare I say it, fucking entitled.

Yes, and odd too as obviously it affects transmen - or rather, girls who may later want to identify as men - no one thinks otherwise. Not sure what the OPs point was.

I understand that. However the way I see it is someone living in country can't claim it is their ethnicity, however they can become residents of that country and be recognized as a citizen. That's the way I see it. So are trans women biologically female? No. However they are women of a trans experience.

I thought that needing a diagnosis of gender dysphoria was no longer needed?

Isn't it transphobic to say someone needs a 'diagnosis'?

Women's rights are human rights.

You’re aware that it is considered transphobic in many circles to suggest that a diagnosis of gender dysphoria is a pre requisite of being trans? It is medicalising and gate keeping.

I am quite tickled that the other thread appeared to open up only long enough to let in one more post on the affect/effect debate, which couldn’t be more mumsnet if it was wearing a scarf and cancelling a cheque
