Dear Owen Jones, we are not frightened of transgender people, we are frightened of men.

There you go, fixed that for you.

It's really quite simple isn't it. It's so wilful to keep turning it back to 'but whhhyyyy are you so scared of trans people' because obviously that makes us sound unreasonable.

highame · 25/01/2021 14:59

Glad to see little OJ has made it back onto our frontpage again Grin

dearoj · 25/01/2021 14:59

Greatest confidence trick ever. Terrorise us forever and then tell us that our fear is bigoted.

Where is this from?

QuentinWinters · 25/01/2021 15:06

I'm not frightened of men. That makes it sound unreasonable. I am wary of men, especially ones that like to push my boundaries. Based on lots of bad experiences with those types of men.

Barracker · 25/01/2021 15:12

Actually, let me add:

Dear Owen.
I'm not frightened of you either.
I know you're not interested in my sex.
But I choose to have intimate boundaries against your sex.
I choose not to be naked in a publicly shared changing room with you.
Or anyone of your sex.
I also choose not to compete in sports against you.
Or anyone of your sex.
I choose not to have intimate medical exams by you.
Or anyone of your sex.
And I reject the idea that a woman's political position or women's rights can properly by represented by you.
Or anyone of your sex.

This isn't fear, hatred or intolerance.
This is what it looks like when women say no to men and stand our ground.

Do adjust, dear.
There's an awful lot more to come.

RozWatching · 25/01/2021 15:13

It's baffling how a committed Labour man can be so offended by women's right to organise independently of men.
It's not just about safety.

feelingquitehopeful · 25/01/2021 15:22

I read his twitter rant too, definitely not pretty.

PlantMam · 25/01/2021 15:31

Is the little one attention seeking again?

HDDD · 25/01/2021 15:50

Is it such a leap from his 'poor white working class men are the most demonised in society' to his stance now? Maybe not.

dyslek · 25/01/2021 15:56

Owen is really doubling down on the misogny isen't he. It really makes you wonder.

NotTerfNorCis · 25/01/2021 16:07

Not sure what this thread is about (will follow it up) but today on Twitter young Master Jones had this to say:

It's all very coordinated I'm afraid via Twitter DM groups, WhatsApp and Mumsnet. A cult in every sense.

Went over to Twitter to have a look, started to read it, noticed custard is trending and that seemed more interesting than LOJ's narrow-minded opinions.

Turns out a lot of people like custard.

Rubidium · 25/01/2021 16:14

Over the weekend he tweeted a request that a law should be passed that 'Transphobes' should not be allowed to like the (excellent) It's A Sin on Channel 4, after Janice Turner described it as superb.

Of course Jones completely ignores that fact that, unlike him, many people remember the AIDS epidemic of the 80s and 90s and, unlike him, were and remain directly affected by it. People like Suzanne Moore, James Dreyfus and Allison Bailey.

Jones being outraged about AIDS in the 80s is like those blokes who were born in 1950 going on about how 'we' beat the Nazis in WW2.

Can't wait for Janice Turner's Times column this weekend.

Could someone point the way to the denial of trans people in the 80's? On Mumsnet?

Confused
thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 25/01/2021 16:19

It really consumes him to see women not doing as they're told by men. Hmm.

Mmmm. Custard.
Justhadathought · 25/01/2021 16:49

I'm not frightened of me,. but I do have a natural guard/protective boundary when in certain intimate circumstances.

I am also conscious that women form a distinct social group based on certain characteristics - which is applicable worldwide, and in nature. The integrity of that grouping is important and the fact of its existence has consequences and material affects. That is what the women's movement and feminism is about.

Justhadathought · 25/01/2021 16:49

of men....

Custard is awesome. As a non Newtonian fluid it’s both a solid and a liquid at the same time, which means you can run across a swimming pool full of it.

Is Jones anywhere near as interesting? No.

I love custard. Owen Jones, not so much. 🤷‍♀️
Toseland · 25/01/2021 16:56

I wasn’t scared of Trans people but now I’ve seen what their activists are like I think it’s right to be wary. I don’t think that’s phobic?
