There you go, fixed that for you.

@NancyDrawed

Caaarrrl I am old enough to have watched the farm safety film, (rural school). I found it again recently and it is horrific - but it obviously did the trick as I still remember it.

I won't link, but if you search for Apaches Public Information Film, (1977) you'll be able to watch it in its gory entirety and see why it affected your Dad so much, boatyard

As for LOJ, he can just fuck off.

There’s a slasher horror movie (I can remember which one) and on the Blu-ray extras they have Apaches which is basically a slasher film in miniature.
Wandawomble · 25/01/2021 18:45

I wonder why he is so in favour of children being medicated and operated on?

boatyardblues · 25/01/2021 18:56

@Tambourina

Walking on custard seems kind of wasteful.
That was my abiding thought watching the YouTube link above. As the production crew were filmed ringing round all the local catering suppliers and wholesalers to get more custard mix, all I could think about were the disappointed children and elderly people in local schools and care homes.

He's doing that thing stroppy teenagers do of wanting exclusive ownership of the stuff he likes. 'I liked this first, it's mine - you can't like it!'

and moaning about his mum

Floisme · 25/01/2021 19:25

I do find it fascinating that he genuinely believes himself to be an enlightened guy, and yet he can't seem to get his head around the idea of there being any conflict of rights, or of women making any demands on their own terms.

ipswichwitch · 25/01/2021 19:30

I remember having to watch Apaches in school. We were all 😱
My DC we’re watching The Amazing World of Gumball the other day and it had this brilliant send up of 80’s school safety films

ipswichwitch · 25/01/2021 19:31

Don’t ask me why there’s a scary clown in my last post!!

MichelleofzeResistance · 25/01/2021 19:39

I am so there for a MN commune. Can't you just imagine it? The endless chicken, not a loo brush in sight, That Thing No One Talks About with weetabix, recipes and Christmas pudding flavoured gin. And good conversation. And decent face cream.

The commune will obs require two swimming pools. One with the vanilla Finest custard and one for the birds eye tinned cornflour based, ready to be run over and properly compared. We should check that before we do anything else.

With cults btw Owen pet, you can't leave (and we all can at any moment, it's fine), and you can't dissent without being cast out after threats. People are dissenting about custard all over this thread and there's been nothing more than sad sighs. Narry a single rape threat.

ArabellaScott · 25/01/2021 19:47

SMUT MEN.

LizzieVereker · 25/01/2021 19:47

@Barracker

Actually, let me add:

Dear Owen.
I'm not frightened of you either.
I know you're not interested in my sex.
But I choose to have intimate boundaries against your sex.
I choose not to be naked in a publicly shared changing room with you.
Or anyone of your sex.
I also choose not to compete in sports against you.
Or anyone of your sex.
I choose not to have intimate medical exams by you.
Or anyone of your sex.
And I reject the idea that a woman's political position or women's rights can properly by represented by you.
Or anyone of your sex.

This isn't fear, hatred or intolerance.
This is what it looks like when women say no to men and stand our ground.

Do adjust, dear.
There's an awful lot more to come.

This to the power of thirty thousand. 👏🏻

(Which I believe is also the number of tins of custard required to fill the average lido. Outdoor custard running is best for one’s mental health.)

MaudTheInvincible · 25/01/2021 19:52

Poor LOJ. Nowhere near as interesting as custard.

MaudTheInvincible · 25/01/2021 19:54

I am very enthusiastic about the commune! Sounds joyous 🤩🥳

ArabellaScott · 25/01/2021 19:54

'I joined the Mumsnet cult and all I got was this lesbian wife and $50k in rinsed Xtian evangelist funds and no fucking custard. '

PlantMam · 25/01/2021 19:55

As long as we don’t have to have any of that lumpy brown or pink 80s school custard - we’re adults now, we can order it from Waitrose.

newyearnewname123 · 25/01/2021 19:56

I'm gonna have bananas and custard tonight as a direct result of this thread.

Oh, excellent idea.

I want to know if the running across custard has to be a particular type, so "real" fresh custard or would the powdered stuff work (both delicious obviously).

LOJ - meh.

Igneococcus · 25/01/2021 19:57

I have never in all my life had Waitrose custard Sad

You haven't lived, Igneo.
thinkingaboutLangCleg · 25/01/2021 20:10

Custard is awesome. As a non Newtonian fluid it’s both a solid and a liquid at the same time,

So is it a solid that identifies as liquid, or a liquid that identifies as solid?

Igneococcus · 25/01/2021 20:13

I've never even set foot inside a Waitrose Arabella I look longingly at the one in Helensburgh when I go past on the train (when not in lockdown) and maybe one day I'll make it to the one in Stirling but until then I'll make my own custard.

@boatyardblues

I’m enjoying the serious consideration of custard on this thread. 👍
I discovered the cafe near me makes Portuguese custard tarts. Oh my...

4 hot cross buns sliced in half, each half spread with marmalde, pour over posh vanilla custard and bake in the oven....luch

I read that as “lunch” and thought, yep, that sounds about right Grin

Would totes wear this on a t-shirt.

Have discovered a tin of custard hiding behind the cat food, but have nothing to pour it over. Except weetabix.
