Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Dear Owen Jones, we are not frightened of transgender people, we are frightened of men.

There you go, fixed that for you.

OP posts:
Deliriumoftheendless · 25/01/2021 20:26

Do you have a small paddling pool, Tyro?

FamilyOfAliens · 25/01/2021 20:27

Tyro

You know you can just pour it over a tablespoon and stick it in your mouth, don’t you?

MichelleofzeResistance · 25/01/2021 20:34

Have discovered a tin of custard hiding behind the cat food, but have nothing to pour it over. Except weetabix

Oh my God. Shock

Don't you start.

Floisme · 25/01/2021 20:35

Must admit, if OJ were to offer me a lifetime supply of Portuguese Custard Tarts in exchange for my sex based rights then I might actually be in a moral dilemma.

boatyardblues · 25/01/2021 20:37

I discovered the cafe near me makes Portuguese custard tarts. Oh my...

That tart picture with the oozing middle is absolute filth. Came for the feminism, stayed for the custard porn. Wink

TyroTerf · 25/01/2021 20:39

What, and spare Michelle the horror of the mental image? Grin

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 25/01/2021 20:43

You know that other thread about Sneery teens? Nope, doesn’t remind me of anyone.
Morrison’s best custard is glorious too. M&S used to do cartons of fruit compote, topped with their custard and sometimes sprinkled with sugar and brûléed. That was me and dhs posh pud in the 90s.
How do we stand on rice pudding (not a non Newtonian joke) thick enough to slice or runny.
And if Talcum X was a pudding what would he be?

HopeClearwater · 25/01/2021 20:45

Hey Mumsnet, why was my comment deleted?
Are we only allowed to talk about girly things like cooking and custard now?
Am I really not allowed to point out that the transgender MtF who live in my local area - sorry sorry sorry, I meant ‘women who were assigned male at birth’ favour tight leather mini skirts, high-heeled boots and plenty of unsubtle makeup, rather than the jeans and sweaters of the bioprivileged cis women who haven’t earned their womanhood??

Anyway. Cornstarch. Useful stuff.

HmmSureJan · 25/01/2021 20:49

@MoltenLasagne

I'm gonna have bananas and custard tonight as a direct result of this thread.
Bananas and custards together make me shudder. I used to want to cry when it was school dinner pudding as I knew no pudding for me that day Sad
TyroTerf · 25/01/2021 20:56

I want to say Spotted Dick but, not being a 1940s public schoolboy, I don't actually know what it is.

I know what rice pudding is though - a sin in all its forms.

Deltoids1 · 25/01/2021 21:06

Heads up, wims - Lidl’s pastel de nata are 49p and delicious!! Flaky pastry and custard in one hit 💪🏼

Jetatyeovilaerodrome · 25/01/2021 21:24

I love how MN is always talked about as if it's some clandestine dark web place, only accessible if you can prove your white middle class credentials (password 'Karen' of course), where women are plotting in secret. Not a completely open and public discussion forum with 7 million unique users a month, where literally anyone can join for free and post what they like within the guidelines!

It's all here for you to see lads!

PlantMam · 25/01/2021 21:30

I vote Blancmange.
Pale, cold, gelatinous, watery, devoid of taste and prone to collapsing.

Once somewhat popular but now largely forgotten.

TinselAngel · 25/01/2021 21:34

Could I run across* a trifle the size of a swimming pool, given trifles have custard in?

*eat

I just gobbled one down after reading about earlier custard posts. Now I come back and want another. Pastel de Natas rock! Unless custard is in my mum’s trifle or in a bread and butter (I have done a Easter bun version too) pudding, I am not having it.

However, when I get to the commune I am definitely trying to run across a custard pool. Like a final initiation ritual, yes? Maybe then I can get my churchy far right pay out.

Gncq · 25/01/2021 21:42

Please stop with your misinformation about custard, people.

You can run across oobleck which is cornstarch and water/milk of a certain ratio (and used as a base for custard if you're not making it from egg yolks).
But, oobleck is NOT custard, custard has more liquid in it, so you cannot and never will be able to run across custard.

MichelleofzeResistance · 25/01/2021 21:49

No, we're going to have to actually prove this now it's been said.

The running over (different types of) custard has become a major pillar of feminism.

What about trifle?
ArabellaScott · 25/01/2021 21:57

The Great Custard Runs of 2021.

Sounds a bit weird when I say it out loud.

blueboxoftissues · 25/01/2021 21:58

@Kit19

ah LOJ is a reminder to post this again

remember that time he slagged off women for having cleaners when he had a cleaner Grin

That video is brilliant. Thank you for posting it, I hadn't seen that one before.
TyroTerf · 25/01/2021 21:58

I'm up for some experimenting, but all I've got is a couple of tins. Nowhere near enough to fill a small paddling pool, let alone a swimming pool. Thinking of scaling down - I've got a bowl and I've got a hamster who loves running, should be a reasonable proxy, right?

Wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 25/01/2021 22:02

I'm craving custard now

ArabellaScott · 25/01/2021 22:04

@Igneococcus

I've never even set foot inside a Waitrose Arabella I look longingly at the one in Helensburgh when I go past on the train (when not in lockdown) and maybe one day I'll make it to the one in Stirling but until then I'll make my own custard.
It's like going to supermarket heaven. Everything is more pretty and healthier and in Very Good Taste. Soothing classical music plays discreetly and subtle incense wafts over your skin while ruddy cheeked shelf stackers polish the floor in front of your trolley so that you can glide effortlessly from the organic quail to the deluxious quivering custard aisle. I come out in a kind of trance feeling somehow both cleansed and enriched despite being definitrly several degrees poorer.

And yes, I don't get out much.
