Dear Owen Jones, we are not frightened of transgender people, we are frightened of men.

Also not even slightly sorry about the detail 😂

When will women just do what they're told? Come on now, don't worry your pretty little heads about it all. We've got a man to tell us what we should be thinking and feeling. That's always been reliable up to now hasn't it?

FamilyOfAliens · 25/01/2021 17:41

@MrsWooster

Family I am prepared to die trying to run across a swimming pool of Waitrose Madagascan vanilla custard. Let me know where when etc. Kind regards, MrsW
I’m on hold to the Chief Exec of Waitrose right now - BRB!
PlantMam · 25/01/2021 17:41

Does the cult have egg custard tarts?

I might join for one (or 4) of those.

Which reminds me, has anyone had their right wing Christian bonus bucks through yet?

I’d rather drown in Waitrose vanilla custard than a slurry pit, my father’s oft repeated childhood cautionary tale against playing at the nearby dairy farm. I imagine the consistency and risk level as being quite similar. (Sorry not sorry for making that association in our more sensitive readers’ minds.)

Mumsnet is a cult?

Has Justine brainwashed us all?

when do we move into the commune?

If only, I'm brassic right now.

boatyard your dad obviously watched watched the government public safety films that we had to watch before every school holiday

Some of them were terrifying.

Yeah but I don't remember any of them mentioning Waitrose custard Grin
Biscuitsanddoombar · 25/01/2021 18:11

I am the spirit of dark & lonely custard?

PlantMam · 25/01/2021 18:12

I’ve never flown a kite near a pylon, so those films must’ve been effective.

gardenbird48 · 25/01/2021 18:14

@Toseland

I wasn’t scared of Trans people but now I’ve seen what their activists are like I think it’s right to be wary. I don’t think that’s phobic?
I still have very little issue with the old-school transsexuals, if any. I used to work in the same office as such a person, they were quite grumpy and wouldn't speak to me for some reason but otherwise fine. The toilet consideration was never discussed (it was quite a big office building) and I had no knowledge of what the arrangements were - which was ideal.

It's the activists and the shouty people and those who have 'chosen not to transition their appearance' (yet still demand to use the female facilities - why?) and the part-timers and the vociferous but totally blinkered female supporters that have got me worried though.

You’re probably right. In hindsight I can see he was quite anxious about us coming to harm playing on our friend’s farm. I managed to cut my inner wrist open on a barbed wire fence leaping off a tractor trailer aged four, so he had cause. 😄
CranberriesChoccyAgain · 25/01/2021 18:20

@gardenbird48

Ditto. The old-school ones seem to grasp that a man cannot physically become a woman, but still want to live their life in a way that makes them most happy.

The people (as you say TRAs and handmaidens) who can't define woman and are unable to face biological reality are more of a concern. Women's rights are acceptable collateral damage in their eyes.

AbsintheFriends · 25/01/2021 18:22

I saw Little OJ's tweets about It's A Sin and who's allowed to watch/enjoy/comment.

He's doing that thing stroppy teenagers do of wanting exclusive ownership of the stuff he likes. 'I liked this first, it's mine - you can't like it!'

A girl in my form did it with Eurythmics circa 1983. She was a fan first, none of the rest of us were allowed to like them. It was irritating in a 13 year old. In a fully grown journalist and media commentator it's hilariously embarrassing. (Maybe he's going to start a fan club with badges and secret passwords and everything. No girls allowed.)

merrymouse · 25/01/2021 18:24

M-u-m-s-n-e-t

Maybe there is a hidden word in the name that explains this cult like insistence that sex has consequences and women need rights.

‘Ums’? ‘Snet’?

Tangledtresses · 25/01/2021 18:31

@Kit19

ah LOJ is a reminder to post this again

remember that time he slagged off women for having cleaners when he had a cleaner Grin

I've lurked here for a while... I honestly had no idea about the reality of what was going on. I was brought up by many feminists back in the 70,s Bloody hell you're all still fighting the fight... good!!!

But that video was absolutely brilliant 😀

Tambourina · 25/01/2021 18:32

Walking on custard seems kind of wasteful.

NancyDrawed · 25/01/2021 18:33

Caaarrrl I am old enough to have watched the farm safety film, (rural school). I found it again recently and it is horrific - but it obviously did the trick as I still remember it.

I won't link, but if you search for Apaches Public Information Film, (1977) you'll be able to watch it in its gory entirety and see why it affected your Dad so much, boatyard

As for LOJ, he can just fuck off.

UppityPuppity · 25/01/2021 18:34

Oh - that’s sooo the last 200,000 years - keep up with the times - here’s where we are now you want to be on the right side of history

And we are called a cult!!!

How many women have gone onto national news to ‘discuss’ physics dressed up as a mermaid??!!

TheCoolNightAirLikeShalimar2 · 25/01/2021 18:36

@Barracker

Actually, let me add:

Dear Owen.
I'm not frightened of you either.
I know you're not interested in my sex.
But I choose to have intimate boundaries against your sex.
I choose not to be naked in a publicly shared changing room with you.
Or anyone of your sex.
I also choose not to compete in sports against you.
Or anyone of your sex.
I choose not to have intimate medical exams by you.
Or anyone of your sex.
And I reject the idea that a woman's political position or women's rights can properly by represented by you.
Or anyone of your sex.

This isn't fear, hatred or intolerance.
This is what it looks like when women say no to men and stand our ground.

Do adjust, dear.
There's an awful lot more to come.

Excellent. Just that.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 25/01/2021 18:37

Recipe

4 hot cross buns sliced in half, each half spread with marmalde, pour over posh vanilla custard and bake in the oven....luch

And those films were disturbing...anyone remember the sports day on a train track one! What the hell was wrong with adults back then showing us those films, would be at least a 15 now!

TheCoolNightAirLikeShalimar2 · 25/01/2021 18:37

Turns out a lot of people like custard.

Don't get me started..
