Ah. So basically an investigation into women's rights movements and how to stop them.

It's almost funny.

DaisiesandButtercups · 01/11/2020 12:23

I have a book on my mantlepiece, “The Darkening Age”. Something about that title seems scarily resonant.

Winesalot · 01/11/2020 12:27

That is very interesting isn’t it. What are they going to do when they realise just who it is that is arguing for upholding women’s rights. That it is not the group they think. I did like the inclusion of indigenous people. Of the UK? Should I get my dna done to see what my lineage is?

GCAcademic · 01/11/2020 12:27

Looking at their website, I feel certain that this will be a very evidence-based inquiry and the outcome won’t be at all predetermined by any ideological position. Not at all.

Aesopfable · 01/11/2020 12:32

They are encouraging indigenous British people to apply, which is unusual. Normally they just seek to encourage minority groups.

Cwenthryth · 01/11/2020 12:35

Indigenous people in a U.K. context 😂 just shows how not based in reality this approach is!

Winterterrace · 01/11/2020 12:40

No nouveaux Normans.

AnyOldPrion · 01/11/2020 12:41

Wonder who’s funding GATE....

ErrolTheDragon · 01/11/2020 12:42

They are encouraging indigenous British people to apply, which is unusual.

Very unusual. Almost like they don't particularly want input from ethnic and religious minorities.

MichelleofzeResistance · 01/11/2020 12:46

Drat. I'm Viking descended which counts me right out.

I hear there's quite a lot of Neolithic DNA in the population around Cheddar Gorge, if that's helpful?

EmpressJKRowlingSpartacus · 01/11/2020 12:49

Latinx people in a UK context doesn’t exactly sound right either!
BaronessWrongCrowd · 01/11/2020 12:49

So they're interviewing the Celts, the Normans, Saxons. Pretty sure the vikings and possibly Romans could be included as well. I mean I'm not sure how far back they want to go as I'm positive that there were tribes predating the Celts. However, I'm pretty sure they all knew what a woman was Halloween Grin

BaronessWrongCrowd · 01/11/2020 12:52

Ah that's what I was thinking of! Thank you. In that case I have that Neolithic DNA accordingly to my mum and uncle who did DNA tests @MichelleofzeResistance but I also have Celtic and Anglo Saxon blood. Does that mean I meet their criteria? Halloween Wink

Imnobody4 · 01/11/2020 12:54

One of their staff is

Wonder who’s funding GATE....
US government, Arcus foundation, OSF among others. Wellspring Philanthropic Trust, who I've not heard of before, give them loads.

They have LOTS of money. IRS docs here:

See now I would consider my views on gender to be quite mainstream and small c conservative.

I'm not the radical.

GrinGrinGrin

In fairness, I can't claim to be indigenous as I suspect my ancestors came over in a long boat circa 1100 years ago.

WoooImAGhost · 01/11/2020 13:03

Oh. Ellen.

If you desperately need drugs without your parents knowing then contact me Ellen.

CaraDuneRedux · 01/11/2020 13:05

Joins Michelle on the Viking bench.

Fancy a rendition of the Horrible Histories' Simon and Garfunkel parody?

merrymouse · 01/11/2020 13:05

Indigenous people?

Nigel Farage will be pleased.

corlan · 01/11/2020 13:07

I'm identifying as Boudicca, Queen of the Iceni today. Do they want my opinion?

MichelleofzeResistance · 01/11/2020 13:10

Fancy a rendition of the Horrible Histories' Simon and Garfunkel parody?

Soon as I've sorted this herring.

If this group is openly about finding out about, stopping, and internationally mobilising against women's rights and bloody women who won't surrender them, can we now be honest about this being a plain sight men's rights movement?

Because it isn't TM finding women having rights a bit of a spanner in the works.

PostItJoyWeek · 01/11/2020 13:11

Here's some of the pre-reading.

We're about to be investigated
GCAcademic · 01/11/2020 13:11

@merrymouse

Yes, indeed. It all seems a bit far right, this focus on indigenous Britons. Ironic.
