So...basically they're trying to find out why a lot of people are still grounded in reality?

Grin Bless.

merrymouse · 01/11/2020 13:15

They must have a lot of money to throw around.

They might as well employ somebody to find out why atheists have a problem with God. Yes, radical feminists do indeed believe that gender is a harmful social construct.

Meanwhile Womans Place UK and Fair Play for Women are quite open about their beliefs and campaigning.

Do you think they would pay me to send them a couple of website links?

Z0rr0 · 01/11/2020 13:16

I'm so tempted to apply for that.

lionheart · 01/11/2020 13:25

MF did an excellent job of following the money on her twitter thread.

Grin
DPotter · 01/11/2020 13:25

Also tempted to apply.
Can I claim to have journalism experience with just one article in a national trade magazine ?

You can name your own fee!

Go high 'ladies' go high

Xenia · 01/11/2020 13:26

Indigenous to the UK? I think i go to the top (or bottom) of the tree on that. Not a single ancestor back to the 17600s not from this country/Ireland and Celtic to boot so not even much of those pesky anglo saxons and hopefully no Romans or French sullying the blood - although the question is were the small dark people from I think Iberia/Spain here before the Celts and picts. Mind you as I have freckles I am the highest amount of Neanderthal DNA at least 3% so you cannot do better than that with UK indigenous......

CigarsofthePharoahs · 01/11/2020 13:27

Indigenous?
Well I've a tint of red in my hair so I'm probably a little bit Celtic, or neanderthal. So I guess that counts.
However my sister did a 23&me test and discovered she has a small but significant amount of Ashkenazi DNA.
Does that rule us out?
My opinion on gender is grounded in reality, like most people.

Copied from OP:

Mapping radical anti-gender movements in the UK.* Identifying key radical anti-gender approaches to trans issues in the UK.*

What do we think they mean when they use the word "radical"?

Is it possible that by using that word they hope people will think of radicalising terrorists and make erroneous comparisons?

WeeBisom · 01/11/2020 13:37

"Identifying key radical anti-gender approaches to trans issues in the UK"

I thought that being anti-gender was a classical feminist position. Looks like trans activism is wedded to this regressive ideology.

Beamur · 01/11/2020 13:38

Absolutely.
Feminist terrorists...
I'm not visiting the website, but perhaps another way of trying to seize the high ground and appear more legitimate (than the aim deserves)?

PostItJoyWeek · 01/11/2020 13:38

What if I identify as indigenous?

I moved here as a young adult. I often feel quite English. I am probably better at Englishing than the English come to think of it. I look great in tweed. I have a UK passport. You think I qualify?

Aesopfable · 01/11/2020 13:41

In fairness, I can't claim to be indigenous as I suspect my ancestors came over in a long boat circa 1100 years ago.

people from a migrant background are encouraged to apply too.

Winesalot · 01/11/2020 13:44

Strangely, I may still have a claim as an Australian. All of my ancestry has been English or Welsh descent from settlers from the 1860s. No other ancestry which is probably not unusual for where I am from.

Now further back, maybe there is some Norman ancestry which may count me out...

Gingernaut · 01/11/2020 13:46

Why are 'sex workers' being included?

fakenina · 01/11/2020 13:49

Im a mix between AngloSaxon, Celtic and Mexican, and know a lot about the feminist movement in UK.

They are basically asking for me personally!

how much does it pay?

Vermeil · 01/11/2020 13:53

I’m 75% indigenous but 25% Greek.
Not sure where that puts me

SmudgeButt · 01/11/2020 13:53

Confused.

The title of the post is "we're about to be investigated".

We who? Mumsnet? You and me?

FannyCann · 01/11/2020 13:57

Anyone know Scrooge's ancestry? On my mother's side we go back to a famous miser who was the model for Scrooge. Apparently he would eat maggoty meat rather than waste it.

  • muses how much money I could have saved...
fakenina · 01/11/2020 14:00

You are.

They've heard all about you Smudge, and they dont like it one little bit.

Watch out is all I can say.

fatblackcatspaw · 01/11/2020 14:00

@BaronessWrongCrowd

So they're interviewing the Celts, the Normans, Saxons. Pretty sure the vikings and possibly Romans could be included as well. I mean I'm not sure how far back they want to go as I'm positive that there were tribes predating the Celts. However, I'm pretty sure they all knew what a woman was Halloween Grin
you forgot the PICTS! you Pictphobe!
Needmoresleep · 01/11/2020 14:01

All these Vikings.

It took a potato famine to push my ancestors out of west of Ireland subsistence living. Though there were always rumours of some shipwrecked Spanish Armada DNA somewhere in the mix.

Would I count?

Gooseybby · 01/11/2020 14:01

'Radical anti gender'? I don't understand, does this mean it's now a GOOD thing to be pro-gender, and we've decided once and for all on gender categories and what goes in each? Where does this leave gender neutral? Did we decide on just two genders, so 'non binary' still exists?

I'm very out of date on this it seems.

Cocothefirst · 01/11/2020 14:03

Gosh.

BaronessWrongCrowd · 01/11/2020 14:04

I apologise @fatblackcatspaw It was an oversight and I have learnt my lesson. I have said things that have hurt the Pict people. I will take time to educate myself on Pict matters and donate 20p to a pict charity Grin

SnuggyBuggy · 01/11/2020 14:05

Are these the folk that lurk and police here?
