Well, not branded as story hour, but the drag queen is reading a story to primary school children... Brought in by an MP (Mhairi Black)

“Thank you to Flow and @MhairiBlack for sharing their experiences with us today. It was really important to hear about Section 28 and the negative effect it had. Thankfully now we teach #LGBTEducation proudly at @Glencoats_PS #LGBTQProud @LGBTYS @LGBTHistoryScot

Flow describes flowself as a transwoman - if TWAW then they would be a drag kind surely...

Ahh the tangled webs...

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 23/02/2020 21:59

*drag king!

Languishingfemale · 23/02/2020 22:25

The depressing thing is that some people will read this thread and dismiss this as homophobia. People so caught up in a maelstrom of wokeness and narcissism that they fail to appreciate the needs and rights of young children. People so far down the boundary lacking, queering the curriculum rabbit hole that the psychological and developmental needs of the youngest in society are ignored in favour of using these children to validate the identity politics of adults.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 23/02/2020 22:29

Again, the issue is not straight versus gay, it's child appropriate versus for adults only. Drag is not child appropriate because it is highly sexualized and full of the sort of sex jokes that the performer discussed here has in their name.

In terms of those calling concern homophobic I'm not sure if they're dim or disingenuous. Bit of both, probably.

Lordfrontpaw · 23/02/2020 22:40

Oh my. Just seen some of the ‘acts’ social media presence in twitter and its grim. Also the school twitter account is locked - but you can see the logo - the school crest on the rainbow flag.

What would happen if a teacher moonlighted as a stripper or burlesque dancer? Or a soft porn actor or nude pin up? I can’t see them being in the job long.

Where are the board of governors? A primary school is being given a rainbow treatment with an outside reader being brought in who is not exactly Mr Tickell - (and you know the kids will try to google this character).

How is this allowed? An obsessed Head pushing sexuality plat the kids.

When I was at primary school you could be sure that the head and none of the teachers ever mentioned sex, sexuality or transsexuals. The subjects just never came up...

Binterested · 23/02/2020 22:46

Hope some journos are reading.

Going on what's historically happened? They get fired if female, even if the porn, stripping etc was long in the past and they haven't done anything similar for years. And this is seen as perfectly reasonable, as if having been involved in something like that taints a woman for life and makes her permanently unsuited to working with children. Whereas if you're male you can apparently be doing it right now and that's fine.

definitelygc · 23/02/2020 22:57

I was about to type something along the lines of - "as if a female adult entertainer by the name of "Flow Job" would ever be invited to speak to children at school". Then suddenly realised that it probably won't be long before some woke teacher invites a stripper to come and "destigmatise sex work".

littlbrowndog · 23/02/2020 23:00

Yeah no kid wants to hear about their teachers sexuality.

It’s so no5 appropriate

They are teachers. In education

Not spurlging their life stories to kids

Jeez

AutumnRose1 · 23/02/2020 23:05

Remember when we believed in Mhairi Black?

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 23/02/2020 23:08

Sigh. She seemed so promising once upon a time, and then she started calling other women c*nts.

McPeaked · 23/02/2020 23:19

There’s a parent on twitter saying that they were not informed of this. And the drag queen has this photo on their Instagram account.
These are really young kids.

I’m complaining to Renfrewshire Council, the local authority for this school.

In among all those other photos??!

This just gets worse and worse.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 23/02/2020 23:27

At least the drag queen was fully clothed this time, small mercies there.

TorkTorkBam · 23/02/2020 23:46

The school is teaching those kids that Flowjob is a nice safe person. The type of person your teacher brings into class to educate you. Someone to aspire to be like. The children will Google Flowjob at home.

Do the teachers have no brains? No training? Did nobody in the staff room put up their hand and say no? What the hell else is going on in that school is where my mind is going.

Languishingfemale · 24/02/2020 00:01

You would have thought that a school with this history might exercise considerable caution when inviting adults in to work with children:

Tombakersscarf · 24/02/2020 00:04

I assumed that the photo a pp has put up is the way it was on Twitter (the children's faces obscured) but the pic on Twitter does not have that.

InionEile · 24/02/2020 04:52

This drag queen trend is becoming so mainstream now, dontcha know. I wish schools would bring in burlesque performers or pole dancers for a change. Or a dominatrix with her sub on a leash? The sooner young kids know about all the colours in the rainbow of human sexuality the better. The most important thing we can teach kids is to break down their boundaries and learn that their role is to validate adults’ feelings, not to be honest if they someone whose clothing or appearance unsettles them. The younger they learn this the better!

testing987654321 · 24/02/2020 06:42

I wish schools would bring in burlesque performers or pole dancers for a change.

I wish that I could believe that the organisers would see that for the ridiculous sarcasm it is, I feel you are just giving them ideas.

NeurotrashWarrior · 24/02/2020 06:57

I note someone with a protected account on Instagram has said "thanks for coming" - looks like school staff.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 24/02/2020 07:17

I don't understand this drag queen story time at all - if they want to teach children about tolerance and diversity where are the people with disability reading? The refugees?

Sugarpea123 · 24/02/2020 07:23

I would withdraw my child.

NotBadConsidering · 24/02/2020 07:40

I think it’s teaching children to accept sexualised adult entertainment as part of society, otherwise bigots, or something.

Or it’s teaching they too could make a career out of sucking dildos on social media if they want to, or something.

I don’t know how I managed to get to the age I am without having a story read to me by a drag queen and still be accepting of diversity and gay people in our society. Clearly I’m an anomaly, and the only way to ensure the diversity of drag is included in society is to get kids while they’re young, because they can’t possibly learn about adult entertainment as adults HmmAngry.

TorkTorkBam · 24/02/2020 07:46

I find the equivalence between homosexuality and dressing up as a pantomime dame to be homophobic and offensive. So much for teaching children that ordinary people can be homosexual and that's fine.

Lordfrontpaw · 24/02/2020 07:48

Who green ligthted the sexualisation of this primary school? The rainbow on the badge, the teachers show n tell poster about her sexuality on Valentine’s Day, the drag queen... why are some people so focussed on their own sexuality that they have to broadcast to the world. At least in a workplace colleagues could tell them to shut up...
