Well, not branded as story hour, but the drag queen is reading a story to primary school children... Brought in by an MP (Mhairi Black)

“Thank you to Flow and @MhairiBlack for sharing their experiences with us today. It was really important to hear about Section 28 and the negative effect it had. Thankfully now we teach #LGBTEducation proudly at @Glencoats_PS #LGBTQProud @LGBTYS @LGBTHistoryScot

Flowjob's Twitter feed is utterly inappropriate for children. And of course they are going to Google her.

testing987654321 · 23/02/2020 18:43

Him.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 23/02/2020 18:45

If it's the school I think it is I think one of their points of pride was how many trans kids there were. Remembering it's a primary school.

They seem to have an incredibly close relationship with LGBTYS who retweet all of their tweets.

Some of the stuff they do is good I think, but there is a massive focus on the LGBT.

Renarde19 · 23/02/2020 18:46

This Primary needs immediately to be flagged to the Council as a serious safeguarding concern.

I would also report to Ofsted and the Governing body.

Languishingfemale · 23/02/2020 18:47

Evidently this headteacher (and an MP) reckoned that this person was a perfect role model for primary children. I'm not sure quite what they based this on? What level of due diligence / safeguarding knowledge they applied in deciding that he was the best positive LGBT+++ role model to children as young as 5 ?
Out of all the possible people they could have selected this is who they chose? Hmm

TorkTorkBam · 23/02/2020 18:48

The head teacher of a primary school invited him in, in drag, to read to children to help educate them about people being homosexual? What? Is she massively homophobic or something?

Binterested · 23/02/2020 18:52

Think these photos should be on AIBU

FemaleAndLearning · 23/02/2020 19:15

Can anyone report to Ofsted or do you need kids at the school. You shouldn't if it is a safeguarding issue?

Renarde19 · 23/02/2020 19:26

Anyone can report. I'm a teacher BTW.

StoneRabbit2 · 23/02/2020 19:40

I would also report to Ofsted and the Governing body

OFSTED's remit is England and there are no governing bodies in Scottish schools.

Not to derail but it is as bloody tiresome having England set as the default for four very different countries making up the UK as it is bloody tiresome having fifth columnists like Black supporting this shit.

LangClegsInSpace · 23/02/2020 20:01

Fucking hell.

This is bad enough in libraries where the session is opt-in and the parents stay.

I didn't see the tweets before they were protected. Is this happening during a normal school day? Not a half-term activity or something like that?

Floral's excellent safeguarding thread:

LangClegsInSpace · 23/02/2020 20:16

Good point StoneRabbit. I live in England and don't know how the Scottish education system works. If someone needed to raise an issue above the head of a Scottish school, who do they report to?

jadefinch · 23/02/2020 20:25

Many children will ask why they're called 'flowjobqueen'.

And many of them will google the act and find these images on the first page.

Mhairi Black has as much understanding of child safeguarding as Aimee Challenor and should be investigated.

scotsheather · 23/02/2020 20:26

I'd already seen the pictures. At first it sounded great, teaching tolerance of gay people, lesbian HT trying to give perspectives. But that drag queen? Even visually its full on drag, even a fairly benign transsexual would be more tolerable though again different to homosexuality.

Sweetpotatoaddict · 23/02/2020 20:30

It would be the local council, although the snp in Renfrewshire are in a bit of turmoil. Currently Derek Mackay MSP, From neighbouring Scottish parliament constituency has resigned from the snp after an newspaper expose of unsolicitated texts to a 16 yr old boy.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 23/02/2020 20:32

Why have so many people completely lost the plot in terms of not understanding that just because something is OK for adults that doesn't mean it's OK for children? If Mhairi Black and her mate with the blowjob joke in his drag name want to run around town being as sexualized as they like that's fine, as long as they're not doing it in front of kids. It wouldn't be OK for straight people to be doing that stuff in front of kids either. The distinction here is not straight/gay, it's "for adults" versus "suitable for small children", so why is in criticism of stuff like this in schools framed as homophobia?

I don't give a shit what drag queens get up to when they're out clubbing, it's just not appropriate to be taking your oral sex jokes based act into primary schools.

Thingybob · 23/02/2020 20:42

Oh that ok then, the kids asked for a drag queen.

Incidentally, Flow describes herself as a trans woman

Tombakersscarf · 23/02/2020 20:46

I would also report to Ofsted and the Governing body
We don't have either here - but the council education department is a good place to start.

Abitofanexpert · 23/02/2020 21:08

Just wrote loads of long responses to the consultation and lost them aargh. Will do it again tomorrow.

As a woman with 2 small children, one starting primary school in August I am terrified by the ultra-woke shitshow in charge, pushing a dangerous agenda onto the majority for the sake of a powerful minority.

My DS is 4 and regularly complains he's not a girl. Parenting 10 years ago I wouldn't have thought twice about it, but now I'm genuinely worried he says the wrong thing to the wrong person in school and ends up on a path we as parents can't stop. I know it seems overly-dramatic but the level of wokeness around this issue scares me.

He also regularly wants to be dinosaur, and today he mournfully wished 'all of the wet things in the entire world would just dry up' and asked if the police were actually real or pretend Confused so his apparently strong desire to be a girl doesn't hold a lot of sway...

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 23/02/2020 21:18

I often find myself wondering if the people pushing this stuff have ever actually spoken to a child, Aibofanexpert.

scotsheather · 23/02/2020 21:32

I'm sure we'd welcome him into our changing rooms with open arms as long as he self declares in Scotland, wouldn't we?

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 23/02/2020 21:35

So if Flow is trans how could flow be described as drag?? Surely you can’t be both? You know unless it’s all the same Hmm

Never ever been happier that my kids aren’t in school.

Hate that this is happening in the most deprived areas where parents are using their energy just to survive, they shouldn’t be having to safeguard their kids while school is in loco parentis ffs school should be a safe place for those kids Sad

Binterested · 23/02/2020 21:36

Course we would. We have been taught not
to trust the evidence of our own bigoted eyes. So come on in, lovely woman-who-is-a-woman-just-like-I-am Hmm

SamSeabornforPresident · 23/02/2020 21:45

When was this? I take it it was very recently, and I'd be very surprised if it wasn't in the papers tomorrow. A lot of the work being done to allow schools to obtain their LGBT charter award is very positive, but this seems terribly misguided. As a pp said, how many children are going to come home and google the entertainer they enjoyed so much in school today, and come across some very adult content? I'd imagine the results of the backlash against this is going to do their LGBT chartership far more harm than good.

scotsheather · 23/02/2020 21:46

So if Flow is trans how could flow be described as drag

presumably a subset of "transgender", just like transsexual, transvestite, autogynephillia et al and its got to the point folk can't distinguish.
