I didn't think it was possible for political discourse to get more divisive and extreme in a civilized society, but Frances Carmel Hoole, who apparently standing for election, tweeted a meme of herself threatening Joanna Cherry with a spray bottle of bleach and the term T*RF.

She has deleted it and is now complaining about the sound condemnation she is receiving on Twitter. I need to get a hammock for my face to help with the continual dropping of my jaw.

What the fuck is wrong with these people? It makes me despair sometimes. The lack of empathy and critical thinking, the nasty tribal behaviour, the complete acceptance that if you’d not think like them you’re obviously disgusting and deserve to die/be sprayed in the face by bleach/be beaten to death/insert any other revolting threat we’ve seen from this type of person.

There are too many people, mostly men but yes some women, who are internalising this sort of hate ready to spew out at the next person who disagrees with them. Something needs to change.

If Joanna Cherry perceives your meme as a homophobic hate incident then it is a homophobic hate incident and the police will investigate and record it as such. Not because I say so but because your stupid lobby groups have persuaded the police and CPS to adopt this position.

I think he's just an old style men's rights activist who has found a convenient way to abuse women who dare to disagree with him.

Any man who goes around shouting 'terf' at women is a misogynist, one who makes up violent and threatening memes to send to women is a violent misogynist.

I live there. I look forward to giving Joanna Cherry my support if I see her out campaigning. I probably wouldn't bother trying to engage with Hoole in case she sprayed me with something (metaphorically and hilariously speaking, of course).

I am sorry to say that I have not seen this to be the case. My sense is that the woke and thought police are as least as likely to be women.
