It increasingly feels like we should treat witch hunts against individual women as attacks on women as a class.

I thought women here might appreciate a thread to show their support for Allison. I don't know her personally, but I believe in all women's right to free speech.

I stand with Alison.

I stand with Alison Bailey.

testing987654321 · 27/10/2019 09:02

Absolutely.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 27/10/2019 09:02

I am very much against witch hunts

could you summarise what's happened?

teawamutu · 27/10/2019 09:02

As do I. And as does The Times: www.thetimes.co.uk/article/lesbian-barrister-my-bosses-bowed-to-transgender-hate-mob-shm6x09v8

Time for a few cards sent to her care of Garden Court, perhaps?

FadingStar · 27/10/2019 09:05

I too stand with Allison and I very much feel as you do Tinsel that these attacks in women by selfish, privileged men feel like their attempt to silence all women.

Halfeatentoast · 27/10/2019 09:06

I too

teawamutu · 27/10/2019 09:08

They are - pack hunting theory, I think.

So we need to be more Navy SEALS - no woman left behind. Grin

LemonSqueezy0 · 27/10/2019 09:08

I stand with her, absolutely.

TinselAngel · 27/10/2019 09:08

could you summarise what's happened

Allison is a barrister (who also happens to be a black, working class lesbian) who is currently being hounded out of her job by a hate mob led by the likes of Owen Jones, for the crimes of being gender critical, being part of the new LGB Alliance and chairing a Woman's Place meeting.

I stand with Allison Bailey.

AnyOldPrion · 27/10/2019 09:10

Horrifying to know that her chambers aren’t defending her in public.

Thank you Allison, if you’re reading this. I should imagine you hoped for more from your colleagues. Hope you find a safe way forward.

Cuntysnark · 27/10/2019 09:11

I stand with Allison. Sending a card today.

MrGsFancyNewVagina · 27/10/2019 09:11

That’s sickening, but such a high profile case will help raise public awareness, regarding policy capture. I stand with Allison Bailey.

Butterisbest · 27/10/2019 09:11

I also stand with Alison Bailey, it's disgraceful that she has been treated like this

OneTerrificMouse · 27/10/2019 09:11

Thus proving the need for the LGB Alliance. Basically.

Nappyvalley15 · 27/10/2019 09:12

I stand with Allison.

realitycalling · 27/10/2019 09:13

Awful - death threats and bullying. I stand with Allison.

zebrasdontwearbras · 27/10/2019 09:16

She chaired the WPUK meeting on Friday?

She publicly thanked the TRAs outside for not being violent or intimidating.

Which I think should be unnecessary. We shouldn't be thanking people for not violently intimidating us. It should be a given.

Women have the right to freely assemble, just like everyone else. Women have the right to define themselves as a distinct category under the Equality Act, and not include transwomen. People have the right to assemble and campaign without centering the 'T' all the time.

JustAnotherMammi · 27/10/2019 09:21

@teawamutu Is it Garden Court Chambers in London, postcode WC2A 3LJ? I will sent a support card for Allison.

littlbrowndog · 27/10/2019 09:21

Allison 💪💪🥇

2BthatUnnoticed · 27/10/2019 09:21

Allison Bailey is incredible.

Solidarity to you Allison, if you see this 💚💜

And I am sorry that your Chambers do not have a stiffer spine. Such fearless defenders of freedom of speech and association (not).

HypatiaCade · 27/10/2019 09:24

I stand with Allison!

HandsOffMyRights · 27/10/2019 09:25

I stand with Allison Bailey.

I thank her for her courage and conviction. What a woman.

I'm sorry she's having to ensure such abuse.

HandsOffMyRights · 27/10/2019 09:25

endure bloody keypad!

FlyUpAndDieWitch · 27/10/2019 09:26

I stand with Allison Bailey.

Perhaps she thanked the TAs for not being violent and intimidating as a way of pointing out their usual MO?
