It increasingly feels like we should treat witch hunts against individual women as attacks on women as a class.

I thought women here might appreciate a thread to show their support for Allison. I don't know her personally, but I believe in all women's right to free speech.

I stand with Alison.

Sending a postcard rather than in an envelope so the whole office can read it Smile

QuestionMore · 27/10/2019 12:29

WomaninBoots · 27/10/2019 12:38

Bloody awful.

I stand with Allison Bailey.

Lyingonthesofainthedark · 27/10/2019 12:41

I'm against witch hunts. I do take issue with the idea of women as a class (I am one).

TinselAngel · 27/10/2019 12:57

It would be interesting to debate whether women are a class on a different thread.

I stand with Alison. Sending card.
It is interesting to watch the fury, it certainly seems to have rattled some people.

Matereality · 27/10/2019 13:15

Good idea to send a postcard so that everyone can read it. I will do that.

MrGsFancyNewVagina · 27/10/2019 13:24

Excellent idea, GetbusywiththeFizzee.

Cismyfatarse1 · 27/10/2019 13:25

I always send postcards via TouchNote. Everyone can read them and the point is made multiple times. I know the cards sent to Joan McApline helped enormously.

Bienchen · 27/10/2019 13:34

Standing with Allison. So sick of the witch hunts!

TalkingintheDark · 27/10/2019 13:44

I stand with Allison. Amazing integrity and courage.

TalkingintheDark · 27/10/2019 13:48

If JustGiving have weaselled out of hosting their fund, could they just set up a way to donate directly on their own website? Have they got a website yet??

BarbaraStrozzi · 27/10/2019 13:49

Yes, I stand with her too.

boatyardblues · 27/10/2019 14:20

I wonder if this poster misunderstands the use of class in this context. It doesn’t mean class in a social hierarchical sense, but as a synonym for ‘category’ or ‘group.’

The way things are going, Tinsel, two postcards is not going to cut it. 2020 may well be the year of card-writing for the cause - and more...

buckeejit · 27/10/2019 15:17

I stand with Alison too. Will send a postcard tomorrow. Feels like something has finally stared though so hopeful

jhuizinga · 27/10/2019 15:40

I stand with Allison also and am just about to send her a card.

ValancyRedfern · 27/10/2019 15:48

Thanks for the Touchnote recommendation. I have just sent two postcards: one to Allison and one to Judy Khan.

Zeldetta · 27/10/2019 16:02

I stand with Alison - not because I necessarily agree with everything said on this board, or I’m sure by her, but because I feel very strongly women should not be bullied in this way for having an opinion about something that affects them (whether I agree with it or not).

I’m a barrister and it is so bloody hard for women of colour at the bar to succeed - it’s an old school profession and a black woman faces so many disadvantages, and they are very underrepresented. We are trying so hard to improve diversity at the bar. I am furious at the way she has been targeted.

Also the Bar is supposed to be independent, but Garden Court has styled itself as a pretty woke set of chambers so I’m not surprised at the stance they’ve taken. However they also won’t be stupid about taking action because they will understand the potential legal implications of doing so. I am certain she is more than a match for them.

CoolCarrie · 27/10/2019 16:06

Just sent an email under their civil rights section pointing out their lack of interest in women’s civil rights, hope the bastards read it. As pp have said this proves, without a doubt, the need for the new alliance. Will send card tomorrow, I stand with Allison
