It increasingly feels like we should treat witch hunts against individual women as attacks on women as a class.

I thought women here might appreciate a thread to show their support for Allison. I don't know her personally, but I believe in all women's right to free speech.

I stand with Alison.

Out of interest: I have heard that the vile misogynist LOJ has lambasted lesbians for refusing girldick, but said it was homophobic to ask if he'd go down on a mangina. Are there screenshots anywhere?

Garden Court Chambers

Absolutely women are singled out to teach a lesson to the rest of us, and to them directly of course.

I stand with Alison Bailey.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 27/10/2019 09:28

people aren't always honest are they? so the best way to judge them is by their actions I find

I would say that people who are trying to jeopardise the livelihood of a woman for being open and honest about being a lesbian are pretty fucking homophobic

could it be that they're the baddies?

and yes, I stand with Alison Bailey. I'll send a card to her today. Thanks for the explanation Tinsel

I absolutely stand with Allison Bailey and all other women (all other people frankly) who are or have been attacked for expressing views contrary to trans privilege dogma.

These witch hunts need to be clamped down on and the cowardly employers pandering to these 'activists' need to grow up and stand up for their employees. Publicly.

Lumene · 27/10/2019 09:31

This:

I would say that people who are trying to jeopardise the livelihood of a woman for being open and honest about being a lesbian are pretty fucking homophobic

teawamutu · 27/10/2019 09:33

A card to Allison and an email to the Chamber, I think. Pointing out that they of all people should understand the EA2010. And that cowardice is not a good look.

Siameasy · 27/10/2019 09:33

Good for her. I stand with her too

MonnaLIza · 27/10/2019 09:34

I think sending cards is a brilliant idea. Will do one today. Total witch hunt and badly handled by the chambers. They have the right to look into complaints, but they've done this in a horrific way.

There was an interesting tweet that claimed 74% of their staff are, wait for it, white males. So diverse! Bloody hypocrites.

I stand with Allison too. And she thanked the TRAs because she is a decent person, like most GC feminists, and to be fair, it was good of the president of the society to agree not to target the venue. No, I know you shouldn’t have to ask people not to intimidate others, but it’s become the norm to do so at WPUK meetings. It’s actually quite a big thing that it didn’t happen at this one and hopefully more will take the lead. The TRAs have a right to think what they like and a right to protest. They don’t have a right to bully and intimidate people.

Allison has never once stooped to their level but her stupidly woke chambers hung her out to dry on the basis of an anonymous account saying he wouldn’t ‘feel safe’ instructing any of their barristers. Yeah mate, sure, because instructing a barrister is just something we do on a day to day basis right? Same as boycotting Tesco or something. If the chambers had had any backbone, they would have told that smug little scrote to piss off. I can more or less guarantee it wouldn’t have affected their work-flow.

Oh and Allison is self-employed so cannot be sacked as such and I am pretty certain she is not in breach of any regulations that apply to barristers either. I guess what they could do is make life unpleasant for her, effectively forcing her to leave. Wankers.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 27/10/2019 09:35

We shouldn't be thanking people for not violently intimidating us. It should be a given

Absolutely

But...

It is a useful way of pointing out that usually these sorts of ‘protesters ’ are violent and intimidating without actually saying it

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 27/10/2019 09:36

Oopsie

Sorry...should have said ‘i stand with alison’ first

PygmyHippoBob · 27/10/2019 09:36

I read this article a couple of days ago, with some concern as to what it would mean for barristers going public about their gender critical views:

www.legalcheek.com/2019/10/bsb-to-barristers-avoid-getting-drawn-into-heated-social-media-spats/

And now it has come to pass. If Allison is reprimanded by the Bar Standards Board I will be furious, especially given that a barrister who groped women at a Chambers party had his reprimand overturned because the High Court found he has a medical condition which causes him to act inappropriately towards women (if such a medical condition exists shouldn't he be under some kind of retraining order to protect the public??):

www.legalcheek.com/2017/02/barrister-who-was-fined-1800-for-pestering-three-women-at-chambers-summer-party-has-decision-overturned-by-high-court/

MsMcWibble · 27/10/2019 09:36

I stand with Allison. What a brave woman. Garden Court should be ashamed.
Getting cards ready to send her now.

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 27/10/2019 09:40

Good idea on the cards. The way she's been targeted has been disgusting.
Allison, if you're reading, you are an absolute shero. Flowers.

ChocoChunk1 · 27/10/2019 09:41

I stand with Allison. I will also a card or letter.

Sorry fly didnt spot your post

terryleather · 27/10/2019 09:48

I stand with Allison too.

The hate towards and hounding of all those who do not accept the genderist position is an utter disgrace.

GetbusywiththeFizzee · 27/10/2019 09:50

I stand with Allison.
When employers take part in these 21st century witch hunts, they need to know how women like Allison are supported by many others. I will be sending a card voicing my concerns.

teawamutu · 27/10/2019 09:51

If anything, defending Allison would bring them work. Thinking of all the crowdfunders around at the moment...

NotBadConsidering · 27/10/2019 09:53

Thus proving the need for the LGB Alliance. Basically.

Yep

Mummyoflittledragon · 27/10/2019 09:55

Bloody hell poor woman. Amazing woman also.
