I stand with Allison Bailey

It increasingly feels like we should treat witch hunts against individual women as attacks on women as a class.

I thought women here might appreciate a thread to show their support for Allison. I don't know her personally, but I believe in all women's right to free speech.

I stand with Alison.

Alex Sharpe is at GCC isn't she. Allison's courage is impressive.

NonnyMouse1337 · 27/10/2019 16:25

I'm grateful that she has helped start the LGB Alliance and I will support her against the gender extremists. They have been specifically targeting women for a while now and attempting to silence and push women out of academia and professional organisations because they dare to express opposition to the political movement.
The widespread persecution and intimidation of women for not agreeing with trans ideology and for voicing their concerns has got to stop.

I've sent her a card.

Pota2 · 27/10/2019 16:26

Alex Sharpe is indeed there. However, as Alex holds a full time professorial post at Keele, I would imagine she is not physically present there very often but there are loads of other irritating woke bros that Allison no doubt has to deal with regularly.

AuntyElle · 27/10/2019 16:26

Thanks for the insider perspective, Zeldetta. She’s very brave.

Trexical · 27/10/2019 16:26

I stand with Alison too - I feel like in a bid to be progressive and appear on the tight side of history the world for women is going backwards and we must stand together when louder voices try and silence us

Fallstar · 27/10/2019 16:27

I stand with Allison Bailey. She's brilliant, brave and truthful.

I've followed her on Twitter for a while so have watched this all unfold on there. She is maintaining calm integrity in the face of appalling bullying.

I agree that this whole debacle shows just how important the LGB Alliance is.

VickyEadieofThigh · 27/10/2019 16:30

I stand with Allison. I have just emailed the head of chambers.

I shall send a card to Allison, too.

VickyEadieofThigh · 27/10/2019 16:32

A (straight) female friend of mine, whom I peak-transed a short time ago, sent me the share token of the Times article today and said "I think the stonewall split is significant and should give people pause for thought."

CoolCarrie · 27/10/2019 17:48

Thank you AuntyElle

PurpleCrowbar · 27/10/2019 18:20

I stand with Alison, & have sent a card via TouchNote.

WomanBornNotWorn · 27/10/2019 18:21

Thankyou MrsSnippyPants, card to Allison written, addressed & ready to send.

lakeswimmer · 27/10/2019 18:22

Thank you Allison. Card has been written and will be posted tomorrow.

A young female relative of mine is a barrister and she (despite being white, middle class and privately educated) has had to work bloody hard to qualify and get established in a very male-dominated field of law. Can't imagine how much more difficult it's been for Allison.

Butterisbest · 27/10/2019 18:35

@youkiddingme
It's not up to anyone to tell you what to write.
Addresses have been posted on this thread.
Your words should be your own and should represent your feelings about what's happened.

Squeakycheese · 27/10/2019 18:40

I stand with Allison, i'm going to write and post a card for her tomorrow. I admire her so much even though I have never met her and think what's happening to her is appalling.

Pota2 · 27/10/2019 18:48

lakeswimmer absolutely. Very very few women reach the top and become QCs. Even fewer black women do. There are currently around 1450 male QCs and only 275 female ones. Vast majority of all of them are white. It’s definitely a man’s game and a white rich man’s game. Allison has done so so well to get where she is against all the odds as black, female and working class. It’s so awful that her own woke chambers are throwing her to the dogs in support of the many white men who claim they are offended by her (Owen Jones, white, Oxbridge educated, academic parents, middle class life but pretends not to be)).

pombear · 27/10/2019 19:00

I stand with Allison.

I was lucky enough to see her in action on Friday.

Her intro to the evening deserved many standing applauses but the setting , timing as the chair, and her amazing delivery meant we didn't.

After speaking to other legal people that evening, and Allison herself at the end, I am in even more awe of her bravery in standing up at this moment and the risks she is taking.

I was in no doubt before, but the attacks that we are witnessing right now demonstrate just how poisonous and male-skewed the prevailing trans-rights agenda is.

Many of us who have been on this board for years are very familiar with the 'when you're about to leave' potential escalation that occurs. It's like a playbook and the pages are being turned one by one, like clockwork.

It's somehow shocking to see it happen at an institutional-level - though I'm not sure why I'm so shocked, given that many of these institutions have been captured by the same types that I'm sure would deploy the same tactics at an individual level.

Card off to Allison tomorrow.

DidoAndHerLament · 27/10/2019 19:25

I stand with Allison Bailey.

AppleBlossomTimeNow · 27/10/2019 20:03

She's brave & I have a shed load of respect for her. Owen Jones is a bully.

FadingStar · 27/10/2019 20:29

Does anyone else think this is the dying kick?

Insertdeadcatsnamehere · 27/10/2019 20:34

I have just signed up to Touchnote and sent Allison a postcard thanking her for her bravery. The bullying is appalling and designed to scare women into silence.
