"So who thinks this was made by accident and totally innocently? #pornculture t.co/JGfzd3uh0P"

twitter.com/SaraBrechGC/status/1148955967683534849?s=19

And their response:

twitter.com/konditorcakes/status/1149324367089848332?s=19

We created this campaign from a place of joy, especially the joy of cake. This image was curated by a diverse group of Konditor team members from different races, sexualities & inclusive of all genders. (1/2)

This image was never intended to be offensive or derogatory, it's just a person enjoying a slice of cake. The campaign includes images of everyone enjoying cake. (2/2) t.co/baAjRd0HLD

It's not just the sexism. It's the general gross, lewd level of vulgarity which is apparently not just the norm but a top sales technique. And any objectors are humourless prudes

Oh absolutely.

FannyCann

You called? Grin

LassOfFyvie · 13/07/2019 17:48

Oh and if Konditor is reading this: -

• you didn't "curate" anything
• the people in the photos look a bit unhinged. It's cake- cake is splendid but , it is still just cake.

ChattyLion · 13/07/2019 18:15

Ugh really apparent which Twitter users utterly fucking hate women isn’t it.?
They are so bloody delighted that women are offended by this. What have they got against us? What has this got to do with them anyway?!

ChattyLion · 13/07/2019 18:22

Also for everyone who somehow isn’t seeing this-it’s not smeared cake or messy eating on the woman’s face. Look at it properly.

It’s a white runny liquid (so nothing to do with cake then) that has been squirted all over her face and around her mouth and is dripping down.

It’s a cum shot, meant to look like her face has been wanked on to. It’s degrading and gross and they really need to think about why this is on a woman’s face and not a child’s or a man’s if it’s all so apparently innocent? Hopefully the advertising standards authority will ask the same question when they look into it.

Splodgetastic · 13/07/2019 18:26

I am not sure that semen should be that viscous...

Splodgetastic · 13/07/2019 18:31

I have to admit that I have more of a problem, in connection with a German bakery, with the slogan “Joy through Cake”. It reminds me of Strength through Joy (Kraft durch Freude), a Nazi sports / physical culture organisation. If I had wanted a sexual reference I would have called it The Joy of Cake. “Joy through...” anything is just not an English thing to say. Epic advertising fail on all levels, it sounds like.

That actually was my first thought.

Needmoresleep · 13/07/2019 19:37

This, presumably is the Konditor bakery just behind the National Theatre?

I am spotting a theme. SE1 is clearly woke bloke territory.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/07/2019 19:46

This in the UK? Sheesh.

Victoriapestis01 · 13/07/2019 20:15

So Dr Harrop makes jokes about women objecting to what they claim is a degrading pornographic advertisement? Jesus.

Seriously, how is this person a GP? How could any female patient ever feel comfortable discussing a personal intimate health issue with a GP who sees nothing wrong with publicly making jokes of this type?

Why are we expected to put up with GPs who behave like this? A bakery is bad enough (I complained using the link): a GP who jokes about this is far more significant, and frightening.

LassOfFyvie · 13/07/2019 20:20

They have several branches, but yes there is one at Waterloo.

NotAtMyAge · 13/07/2019 20:21

Complaint submitted.

Needmoresleep · 13/07/2019 20:34

Fyvie, the origional branch I think.

It was a favourite destination of mine in my buggy pushing days a while back.

Another supplier I no longer want to buy from. The list is growing.

LassOfFyvie · 13/07/2019 21:00

Needmoresleep

Sorry , I'm being slow on the uptake. On the photos of their shops on their website the only branch which has any of the photos from the advert as a window display is the Waterloo branch and the only photo is this one.

Needmoresleep · 13/07/2019 21:37

If I were a brave sort of person I would be tempted to buy a lesbian T shirt and visit them.

Unfortunate I am not brave.

LassOfFyvie · 13/07/2019 23:13

Konditor & Cook until earlier this year sold a brownie called "fudgepacker". Some gay men, including the journalist Patrick Strudwick, justifiably, found it offensive and complained.

K&C apologised and withdrew it.

Hi both, we have reviewed the comments from this post & agree that in 2019 the name Fudgepacker Brownie feels neither relevant or appropriate. It shouldn’t have taken this to make us realise this as a gay-owned company & we are sorry for this

mobile.twitter.com/joaniwalshi/status/1117010832637026304

I see on this thread that someone called Joani Walsh is defending K & C. I'm sure I've seen her mentioned approvingly on here- but she's way off here.

Erythronium · 13/07/2019 23:24

The suffragettes would have smashed their windows. Obviously that's a joke and nobody should ever think of doing anything like that.

There were the radical feminists in the 1980s who poured cement into porn movie theatre toilets.

Why should we have to put up with shit like this in a public space?

Erythronium · 13/07/2019 23:29

It's quite possible that it's a Nazi joke as well as a porn joke. They clearly think they're very clever.

LassOfFyvie · 13/07/2019 23:37

The Fudgepacker Brownie is extraordinary too. Why would you call a cake that?

I wonder if their marketing team are reading any of this. Their name is now, for me, inextricably linked with semen, shit and paraphrasing Nazi slogans.

OdeToDiazepam · 13/07/2019 23:43

Well I'd never heard of this insidious little brand before but I'll certainly steer clear now

Datun · 14/07/2019 00:19

Their name is now, for me, inextricably linked with semen, shit and paraphrasing Nazi slogans.

Indeed. And piss taking misogynists.

Absolutely zero idea of how repellent they are.

Pinkarsedfly · 14/07/2019 06:00

The jizz-covered woman is also wearing a brown shirt, I notice.

terfsandwich · 14/07/2019 06:56

I saw a theory a while ago that the anime twitter profile pics were like a secret handshake for paedophilia.
