This short film with Mhairi reading out (mostly respectful) comments from women is really sad. I have always admired her but like many politicians she is unable to comprehend the issues women are raising. She says there is no evidence or legitimacy in our concerns. Oh well.

I think Mhairi was probably commissioned by SNP HQ to make a video, to try and take the heat off them from tthe pissed off Woke regarding the new consultation and the removal of the School Guidlines.

Its a kind of Yoof TV thing - get Cool Maverick Mhairi to make it, she's edgy and young ( and she very likely wont stand for Westminster again, she's on record as saying she hates itand has a terrible attendance rate too,)

But SNP HQ know the Grown-Ups won't even watch it so no real damage done. But they still want to be Seen-to-be-Progressive.

youllhavehadyourtea · 04/07/2019 10:36
  • and she very likely wont stand for Westminster again, she's on record as saying she hates itand has a terrible attendance rate too, - so no long term collateral damage done to the SNP if she moves on.

I'm sorry she's not enjoying her job. Maybe she would be much happier based in a job outwith parliamentary politics, in the Third Sector ( Engender or something like that).

ZebrasAreBras · 04/07/2019 10:46

After hearing her sneering at women's legal right to single-sex spaces and calling women cunts, I think Parliamentary Standards needs to step in.

I agree. Can anyone make a complaint about any MP? Or does it have to be another MP, or their constituent?

We all know what calling someone a Jeremy Hunt means.

Datun · 04/07/2019 10:52

That was difficult to believe. And that t-shirt is beyond creepy. Who writes that on a T-shirt? It sounds utterly perverted. Do they do them for little girls?

And saying that AGP is homophobic? What the effing fuck is that all about??Autogynephiles are almost exclusively heterosexual. She has no idea what she's talking about.

And when one Tweeter said that under the stonewall definition, they could be considered trans, she almost seemed to approve of that. So if everyone can be trans who the hell does she think she's defending??

And you know what, she didn't answer a single question.

Yet again. There is absolutely nothing in the arsenal, is there Mhairi? You cannot actually address any of the issues. Just why don't you fucking be nice to the men, because if you're not, you're a cunt.

What an idiot.

MockerstheFeManist · 04/07/2019 10:52

I don't think there's anything in the Standards Code to cover it:

publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201516/cmcode/1076/107602.htm#a5

Coming straight from University into parliament would always be a tough transition. The workload above all. The need to be an employer in two locations and a public representative for all your constituents. No surprise if she can't havk it.

ZebrasAreBras · 04/07/2019 10:59

Oh, I agree about the "you can pee next to me" T shirt as well! Downright weird and creepy.

There's a certain type of AGP who seriously fetishise women's biological functions, and get off on women weeing next to them, and women's periods, women sanitary wear etc [vom] The ones who simulate periods generally are this type (it's called 'physiological AGP') - so thanks Mhairi, for encouraging that!! I'm sure it never really happens though right? Hmm

JoyceJeffries · 04/07/2019 11:06

She comes across as completely deranged TBH.

thenightsky · 04/07/2019 11:06

What's the racism thing? Anyone got a link? I just googled and found nothing incriminating.

Tanith · 04/07/2019 11:08

I imagine Jeremy Hunt will be less than thrilled that his name is being used by a sitting MP to insult her constituents.

nauticant · 04/07/2019 11:10

Just in case anyone doesn't know about the Jeremy Hunt usage, it comes from a mistake made on Radio 4:

ArcheryAnnie · 04/07/2019 11:15

She's not very well-informed, is she? She's repeating Mermaids-style "facts" rather than, you know, actual facts.

I wonder why she didn't repeat the actual fact that if you are a transwoman in the UK you are statistically less likely to be murdered than someone in the general population? And that you are statistically more likely to be a murderer than a murderee?

Or the actual fact that male-bodied people commit 94% of murders committed in the UK?

Or the fact that women in prison are many, many times more likely to self-harm than male prisoners?

But yeah, it's women who are concerned for their safety and privacy and dignity who are terrible. OK then.

Datun · 04/07/2019 11:18

Or the actual fact that male-bodied people commit 94% of murders committed in the UK?

And 99% of all sex crime.

I can't bear to rewatch, but she did the whole oh come on, women do it too, nonsense, didn't she?

I mean how can you be a female MP and not know that there are 14,000 men in prison for sex offences and 120 women???

ZebrasAreBras · 04/07/2019 11:31

From Mhairi's twitter thread Grin

Mhairi Black
Beautifulday49 · 04/07/2019 11:33

She has no idea what she's talking about.

This seems to be true of 95% of the population regarding this issue.

Fibbke · 04/07/2019 11:50

I very strongly believe that most people talking about transwomen in womens spaces think a transwoman is someone who has had years of surgery.

MockerstheFeManist · 04/07/2019 12:28

I think most people would think a transwoman was a FtM transsexual.

MrsJamin · 04/07/2019 12:35

What a total let down - laughing and calling women c*nts, and saying we have no right to same-sex spaces. Just abhorrent that you could get away with that attitude as an MP. What an ignorant young woman she is.

InTheHeatofLisbon · 04/07/2019 12:38

What's the racism thing?

No idea. Unless it's bleating about anti English sentiment. When ironically the anti Scottish sentiment is less than concealed in a few posts on this thread.

That said, I had an enormous amount of respect for Mhairi Black until she drank the kool aid. I'm disgusted by her attitude towards women raising genuine concerns, and have said so, both to her in a letter and to my own local SNP MP. She is so desperate to be PC she's gone down the rabbit hole. And that t-shirt is appalling.

Wasn't it recently that the SNP put self ID on hold because they realised/were shown that it's completely unworkable and goes against safeguarding?

Trying to break up our country

It's not just yours you know.

TurboTeddy · 04/07/2019 12:42

She doesn't seem to understand the horrific murder rates of trans sex workers in South America isn't a particularly credible argument to make when discussing changes to UK law. Either that or she's happy to exploit their deaths in order to justify dismissing women's concerns about self ID.

Tanith · 04/07/2019 12:50

I wouldn't like to be in her shoes if Jeremy Hunt does decide to take a moment from campaigning to deal with this.
It may have been an innocent mistake on the radio all that time ago; it's quite deliberately offensive this time.

LassOfFyvie · 04/07/2019 12:59

When ironically the anti Scottish sentiment is less than concealed in a few posts on this thread

Please point to "anti- Scottish sentiment" on this thread. There isn't.

Criticising Mhairi Black, the SNP or independence is not "anti- Scottish sentiment."

InTheHeatofLisbon · 04/07/2019 13:01

Criticising Mhairi Black, the SNP or independence is not "anti- Scottish sentiment."

I didn't say that it was.

Take your snotty tone with someone else please, your disdain for anyone who disagrees with you or has a different opinion to you is a bit boring now.

LassOfFyvie · 04/07/2019 13:04

So where is the "anti- Scottish sentiment " on this thread. You threw that in.

I don't see any. I see plenty of criticism of Black and the SNP. Please point out the "anti- Scottish sentiment ". You can't- because there isn't any.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 04/07/2019 13:07

InTheHeatofLisbon

There isn’t any anti Scottish sentiment and Lass wasn’t snotty when she said that, it’s your attitude that’s snotty.

InTheHeatofLisbon · 04/07/2019 13:11

Fair enough, you see what you want to see and I'll see what I want to see.

Not defending Mhairi Black on women's issues at all, she's disgraced herself.

However, it's important to state that there are no attendance records kept by the HoC, only the HoL, and that Mhairi Black isn't even in the top 10 highest expenses claims.

By all means criticise her politics, but making shit up does nobody any good.

I'll bow out now and await independence with anticipation.
