This short film with Mhairi reading out (mostly respectful) comments from women is really sad. I have always admired her but like many politicians she is unable to comprehend the issues women are raising. She says there is no evidence or legitimacy in our concerns. Oh well.

4-6 cases that one person has done forensic assessments on...

BeMoreMagdalen · 03/09/2019 16:42

Always an interesting experiment to see a beardy wokebro outline his acceptable amount of victims of sexual violence so that males maintain the right to do whatever the fuck they want to.

"Look, it's sad when women are abused and assaulted, but there will always be rapists. You can't say a blanket no to men on the basis of a few female victims."

Which is pretty much what Mhairi said in that interview. And spare me the poor wee attacked female politician schtick. If she is prepared to scorn other women who are concerned about being victimized by entitled males, then she forfeits the luxury of girlish naivete when she is challenged for such appallingly sexist attitudes herself.

ScreamingBeans · 03/09/2019 17:42

Why do you lot attack a young Women MP so much?

She called me a cunt. She called all women who have doubts or are uneasy about transideology, cunts. I'm entitled to attack her in the same vein, but I'd just draw your attention to the fact that I haven't - I've used more respectful, decent language than she has about me and people who agree with me.

She is stepping down at the next election; the bullying probably hasn't helped; particularly from the vile tory men who swear at her every time she speaks in the House.

Which vile tory men? One of her biggest MP friends is Jacob Rees-Mogg, who has acted as a bit of a mentor to her. Who is swearing at her every time she speaks in the house and what has the Speaker said about this use of unparliamentary language?

Are you actually sure this is happening? MP's aren't allowed to swear at each other in the chamber, so unless you present some evidence of this, I'm inclined to believe that this is yet another make-belief behaviour that transactivists and their allies seem unable to resist inventing.

There used to be a Sisterhood. Yes and there have always been handmaids and Aunt Lydias who undermined and attacked the sisterhood on behalf of men. Black stands in a long, inglorious tradition and we owe her fucking nothing. Not even courtesy. Though of course, we're more courteous than she is.

CraftyWoman · 03/09/2019 17:49

There used to be a Sisterhood.

There still is, it's just that it's made know what a woman is and won't pander to fetishists and wokebros in order to appear woke. She called those women "cunts". You're looking the wrong way for a lack of sisterhood "woman".

woman19 · 03/09/2019 17:54

What are you organising to solve this?

MargueritaBlue · 03/09/2019 17:59

That is an outright lie.

BeMoreMagdalen · 03/09/2019 18:19

What are you organising to solve this?

On what basis are you asking these unfocused, demanding, accusatory, sea liony questions?

CraftyWoman · 03/09/2019 18:22

What are you organising to solve this?

All kinds of things. What are you doing to solve it?

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 03/09/2019 19:12

To solve what?

Really, be more specific woman19

It’s nigh on impossible to know what the heck you’re talking about

CharlieParley · 03/09/2019 19:38

ArnoldWhatshisknickers I don't doubt that your recollection is accurate even today, however I do think that the LGBT communities/societies at universities are far far ahead of the general public in embracing transgender ideology and legislation.

Magdalene Berns got kicked off the socs she was involved with in 2016 because by then, the LGBT community at Edinburgh University as well as UK-wide had gone fully down the rabbit hole on this. Mhairi graduated only the year before.

There are a lot of vulnerable young women, whether lesbian, bi or straight seeking to identify out of womanhood now identifying as trans or non-binary, and quite a number of vulnerable young men doing the same at universities now. You are right though, I shouldn't have said "HSTS" as they have always been and remain incredibly rare. My contention is probably better expressed by saying that I expect Mhairi to know far more vulnerable young people seeking to identify as trans than fetishists and that this may colour her opinions.

Ok, yes, I can see that being the case, though my own daughter graduated from Glasgow in 2017 and didn't really encounter any of this stuff so I wonder how much it remains contained within certain social circles.

PencilsInSpace · 03/09/2019 20:07

Fucking hell Shock

MargueritaBlue · 03/09/2019 20:12

One of her biggest MP friends is Jacob Rees-Mogg

That's true. Rees- Mogg was apparently very helpful and courteous when she first arrived at Westminster.

The claim that she is subjected to Tory Tory MPs swearing at her in the house is complete cobblers.

BeMoreMagdalen · 03/09/2019 20:21

But... but... I thought all white male Tories were barely concealed demons? How can one possibly have a courteous and kind relationship with someone they disagree with politically?

SunsetBeetch · 03/09/2019 21:25

The women behind @mbmpolicy have delivered high quality analysis relevant to Scottish GRA reform and will be working hard to uphold our female sex-based rights once again when the Scottish gov publishes its consultation on its draft GRA bill. THREAD:

ArnoldWhatshisknickers DS has stayed resolutely away from student politics, his activities don't seem to appeal to that crowd and he has no connection to the LGBT community, so none of this registers with him either. I do know students at the same university however who are being bullied like Magdalen was at Edinburgh University and staff members fearing for their jobs.

It might have something to do also with the subject studied. Engineering seems quite unaffected, in gender studies it's inescapable.

Yes - I've commented before that in engineering they're still trying to deal with overcoming old fashioned stereotypes. And they've got full timetables, not much time for politicking.
