I hope she presses charges. Totally unnecessary and unacceptable.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if he has form for DV.

Amazing how many people - for the first time in their internet life - are bringing up Jo Cox to DEFEND a man being violent to a non-violent woman with a political conscience.

IcedPurple · 21/06/2019 18:55

we should have to treat gatecrashers exactly as we would treat people in their own homes!!!

Mark Field is not the proprieter of the Mansion House. He doesn't get to decide who is or is not a 'gatecrasher' and deal with them as he chooses on the spur of the moment.

Totur · 21/06/2019 19:03

Well I'm not sure how you treat people in their own homes, but I would hope you don't assault them.

This thread is lunacy and exemplifies why an organisation such as Women's Aid exists.

Totur · 21/06/2019 19:08

Incidentally have they made a statement on this?

pixielott76 · 21/06/2019 19:13

Are you serious??????????

Tell us how you really feel Mark.

In other Tory news:

*Police were called to the home of Boris Johnson and his partner, Carrie Symonds, in the early hours of Friday morning after neighbours heard a loud altercation involving screaming, shouting and banging.

The argument could be heard outside the property where the potential future prime minister is living with Symonds, a former Conservative party head of press.

A neighbour told the Guardian they heard a woman screaming followed by “slamming and banging”. At one point Symonds could be heard telling Johnson to “get off me” and “get out of my flat”.*

Ladies and Gentlement, I give you the future PM of HM's government.

Shock
Totur · 21/06/2019 19:27

When contacted by the Guardian on Friday, police initially said they had no record of a domestic incident at the address. But when given the case number and reference number, as well as identification markings of the vehicles that were called out, police issued a statement saying: “At 00:24hrs on Friday, 21 June, police responded to a call from a local resident in [south London]. The caller was concerned for the welfare of a female neighbour.

Well that just says it all doesn't it.....

Saucery · 21/06/2019 19:38

What a classy lot of thugs they are.

Totur · 21/06/2019 19:39

Just last week I reported what I felt to be a crime but had an argument with the police officer who didn't seem concerned. I then called back about 20 minutes later about the same crime and they told me they had no record! Police can cover up shit when they want.
Gosh, it's just showing the corruption and misogyny here today isn't it.

Totur · 21/06/2019 19:43

Are any news outlets covering this shit? I haven't watched the news since earlier today.

HelenaDove · 21/06/2019 19:45

Thank God the neighbour recorded it. It will make it harder for certain quarters to gaslight over it.

HelenaDove · 21/06/2019 19:47

Channel 4 news just covered it.

Totur · 21/06/2019 19:50

Is there any point where Her Majesty steps in? Or is she just a figurehead?

Totur · 21/06/2019 19:52

This is fucking ridiculous. I feel so powerless.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 21/06/2019 19:52

I think Boris is lying bastard, but recording and sharing the recording with the media is not on.

There is a woman there who might prefer not to air her dirty laundry in the papers.

As for Boris, fuck him.

Teacakeandalatte · 21/06/2019 19:53

It would be nice if she decked him with her handbag as he walked past her but this is sadly unlikely.

Isatis · 21/06/2019 19:58

Tbh in these days when it seems any fucker can lob acid on you or slice your throat, I'd think seeing a random person stomping up in a place she's not supposed to be in could cause concern.'

Not sure I'd be too concerned about a woman who's been through airport-style security screening and is clearly wearing a dress which couldn't conceal any weapon. And, in fact, apparently the other 349 guests who were present didn't feel sufficiently concerned to follow Field's example, and they were probably in the best position to judge.

I'm not sure he needed to manhandled her quite so much though but i do think he's have done the same if it was a man.

No, he wouldn't - unless he believed a man to be as little threat as this woman was.

HelenaDove · 21/06/2019 19:59

The Last Leg might be interesting tonight.

IcedPurple · 21/06/2019 20:01

Is there any point where Her Majesty steps in? Or is she just a figurehead?

Someone with more expertise can correct me on this, but I believe that while technically she has the power to refuse to authorise a PM to form a government, in practice it would be exceedingly unlikely for her to exercise that power.

@Totur people are sharing a screenshot of the same paragraph you highlighted on Twitter.
