I hope she presses charges. Totally unnecessary and unacceptable.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if he has form for DV.

It's very clear from the video that he relished the opportunity to dominate and intimidate this woman in front of an audience of admiring peers
He really enjoyed publicly humiliating this woman

2BthatUnnoticed · 22/06/2019 13:09

FWIW I think that tweet is a mock up and not something he actually tweeted. someone on T said so anyway.

His reaction on the video was disproportionate imo. He went straight to man- handling her - there was no request for her to leave, nor an attempt to detain her while security came.

I saw anger and physical domination - not fear and self-defence.

HamptonLucy · 22/06/2019 14:19

I'm listening to R4 Any Answers phone in at the moment and think I'm going to combust. Two women saying Field's actions were commendable. A man has phoned in and is speaking rationally about it.

LizzieSiddal · 22/06/2019 14:48

Hampton it’s a real eye opener isn’t it. Similarly on R4 this morning 3 conservative voters said B Johnson’s behaviour with his girlfriend is totally private and has nothing to do with the public.

I think about the kind of country we are living in and really don’t like it.

redspider1 · 23/06/2019 11:17

I think he dealt with a possible terrorist in a way anyone would. If she had a gun, he'd be called a hero now. In those seconds you act or you don't. She had forcefully entered where she shouldn't be and should expect to be forcefully removed.

MockerstheFeManist · 23/06/2019 11:45

The only possible terrorist is the violent man Mark Field. What if he'd had a gun?

BitOfFun · 23/06/2019 11:47

I despair, I really do. It's almost funny, but not.

Whosorrynow · 23/06/2019 11:51

Do you really think that the way to disarm a person with a gun is to grab them by the back of the neck?

IcedPurple · 23/06/2019 11:51

If she had a gun, he'd be called a hero now.

Actually, if she'd had a gun and was a 'terrorist', he'd be dead now. That's because this 'hero' didn't feel the need to restrain her arms and instead pushed her against a pillar and marched her out gripping onto her neck. Nor was he arsed to disarm this potential 'terrorist' - or even bother to check she was armed - he just let her walk out into the street, complete with the 14 caliber shotgun she was potentially hiding in that little handbag.

FFS come up with a new excuse for thuggery. Or better yet, don't.

MockerstheFeManist · 23/06/2019 11:55

"What If She Had A Gun?" could be the new Gold Standard for dealing with sedentary lesbians.

Isatis · 23/06/2019 11:57

I think he dealt with a possible terrorist in a way anyone would. If she had a gun, he'd be called a hero now. In those seconds you act or you don't. She had forcefully entered where she shouldn't be and should expect to be forcefully removed.

And yet hundreds of people who saw her clearly didn't consider for one moment that she could be a terrorist - why else can you see them in the video watching her quite calmly? Likewise, Field never for one moment thought she was a possible terrorist, for all the reasons stated by IcedPurple. If she'd had a gun, the situation wouldn't have arisen, because she wouldn't get through security.

And she didn't "forcefully" enter. She walked in like everyone else. I'm sure she expected to be removed using reasonable force. She didn't expect to be the subject of a prolonged assault.

Isatis · 23/06/2019 12:03

If Field really believed the woman to be about to attack or to be a possible terrorist, can we nominate him for the Darwin awards (awards for stupid people selecting themselves out of the gene pool by death)? Because, if he really believed that, he did everything he possibly could both to provoke and facilitate her in turning her supposed gun or knife on him, or setting off her supposed bomb whilst he hung on to her neck.

Whosorrynow · 23/06/2019 12:08

Mark Field was triggered by the sight of this uppity woman and he couldn't restrain himself from milking this opportunity to dominate and subdue a woman in front of an audience

Going for the neck like that is a subtle message, it says 'I watch porn and I know how to make a woman do what I want'.... he wants all the men and all the women in the room to know that

Whosorrynow · 23/06/2019 12:12

Look at him here, look at him dominating and controlling Jeremy hunts wife, he grabs her by the head and eats her face

IcedPurple · 23/06/2019 12:34

What kind of person would snog the face off his colleague's wife? At a daytime work event with cameras present, no less? Poor woman. Bad enough being married to the *unt, but having that sleeze force himself on her too?

Whosorrynow · 23/06/2019 12:42

He does it openly in front of an audience of men, demonstrating that he feels perfectly free to take liberties with another man's wife
He's letting them all know that he's the alpha male and he can do what he likes with the females, grab them by the head, grab them by the neck
Perhaps he thinks that if trump can grab them by the pussy surely he can grab them by the head/ neck

mimivanne · 23/06/2019 13:42

'He continued to grip me by the neck and arm all the way the the door of the building. Then when we got to the door,he shoved me outside on to the street ,and said :
'This is what happens when people like you disturb our dinner '
An understandable response to the risk of a slight delay in the serving of the next course.
Imagine if the repulsive individual had actually been scared, vile man

redspider1 · 23/06/2019 13:48

I disagree. I’m a woman too. Don’t barge into places to disrupt and expect to be asked to leave politely.

Hithere12 · 23/06/2019 13:53

Climate change is a nation emergency. The whole point of a protest is disruption. Would you say the suffragettes should have been more polite?

BitOfFun · 23/06/2019 13:53

You'd be right at home in North Korea then

Hithere12 · 23/06/2019 13:54

Yeah he sounds petrified and thinks she’s armed 🙄

redspider1 · 23/06/2019 13:55

Disruption that looks like a possible attack or threat will be met with aggressive defence. Not the best way to make your point.

FeministCat · 23/06/2019 14:00

Disruption that looks like a possible attack or threat will be met with aggressive defence.

I have watched the full video several times. Can you kindly reference where it looks like a “possible attack or threat”, especially one that only Field appeared alert to and not the actual security there (the ones who also searched bags) or any of the other attendees.

redspider1 · 23/06/2019 14:04

It’s obvious. We’ve all analysed and replayed the video. In the moment, you react. Rather that than allow something worse to happen. She could have been carrying acid or a weapon. She was restrained and removed.

Isatis · 23/06/2019 14:06

Who said they expected to be asked to leave politely? I'm sure they didn't expect politeness, but there's a pretty obvious difference between that and a sustained physical assault.

Disruption that looks like a possible attack or threat will be met with aggressive defence.

Except it didn't. Look at the video: if this looked like a possible attack, do you seriously imagine all those people would be sitting at their tables calmly watching?
