It was going to be announced on the 25th - now moved forward to Thursday. Anyone going to join me in the public gallery at Holyrood??

Ironically no, as I won't get back for the school run. Just passed this though:

So glad you posted, was going to start a thread. Can’t be there but my goodness I hope it’s a good outcome.

JoyceJeffries · 18/06/2019 19:03

I’m at work but will check in on Mumsnet for an update.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/06/2019 19:03

I wonder why it’s been brought forward?

TurboTeddy · 18/06/2019 19:05

Hope you don't mind.......

Presumably due to the recent revelations on Twitter. Might as well get the furore over, rather than have weeks of speculation, with women objecting all the way through, alerting more and more people to the unpopular decision that the government are taking before ot’s even been officially announced.

TheBullshitGoesOn · 18/06/2019 19:08

I wonder whether they have brought it forward in case anything else goes wrong and people wake up and start asking sensible questions.

MilletSentToForceIt · 18/06/2019 19:09

I thought I’d seen a thread on here in the last week that said it has been decided to proceed with the changes and that there had been overwhelming support for them? (Well that’s politician speak for 56% in favour).

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 18/06/2019 19:19

The deeply flawed consultation carried out by ScotGov had 60% respondents in favour. Analysis of responses here: www.gov.scot/publications/review-gender-recognition-act-2004-analysis-responses-public-consultation-exercise-report
It's worth a read, there are some excellent points made on a neutral way (good to pinch for letter writing etc)

Judder · 18/06/2019 19:37

How can the system let them go through with this without making the correct impact assessments? I realise that I have been too trusting. 'Women know your place'.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/06/2019 19:38

So ‘right on’ they are going backwards. All this for a tiny handful of men. Thanks Nicola.

Michelleoftheresistance · 18/06/2019 19:48

This will mean it now goes through heavy (public) debate in the Scotts parliament doesn't it? Joanna Cherry and Joan McAlpine, I'll hold your towels and keep the gin on ice if you're going in.

boatyardblues · 18/06/2019 19:50

Joanna’s a Westminster MP, isn’t she? But I agree with the sentiment.

Michelleoftheresistance · 18/06/2019 19:54

Joanna's Westminster? Hurrah, we do actually have a sane woman in there, I thought they were all limited to Scotland!

Sexnotgender · 18/06/2019 19:59

Anyone know if I can take a baby into the public gallery?

howonearthdidwegethere · 18/06/2019 20:05

Take your baby and if they refuse you access, claim maternity discrimination! (Only half-joking...)

There is a free creche in the parliament btw. You can leave your kids for up to four hours. They take kids from 6 weeks old to age 5.

GrumpyCatLives · 18/06/2019 20:07

Will this be in Edinburgh or London?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 18/06/2019 20:10

Edinburgh.

GrumpyCatLives · 18/06/2019 20:11

And is the result certain? They will have self-I’d?

AudacityOfHope · 18/06/2019 20:17

😢😢😢😢😢

Sexnotgender · 18/06/2019 20:22

It’s announcing a bill as far as I understand. Still needs debated etc.

lazymare · 18/06/2019 23:17

Leeze on Twitter is raging so it looks likes there's a slowdown coming and a return to consultation. Wee prick Jordon has been spilling details.

Popchyk · 18/06/2019 23:37

Wee prick Jordan saying:

Hearing Thursday announcement is as follows:

  • Scot Gov will continue to support Self ID
  • Will open new consultation on draft bill by end of this year
  • Formation of at least one new working group
  • Introducing legislation Sept 2020
  • View to pass by Feb 2021

twitter.com/Montague90/status/1141065674305003523

Wee prick Jordon is the boyfriend of an MSP Alyn Smith. Wee prick Jordon seems to make a habit of leaking confidential SNP info.

Popchyk · 18/06/2019 23:46

Oops.

He's protected his tweets now.

The boyfriend must have told wee prick Jordan that leaking confidential political information on Twitter is going to have all sorts of fingers pointing at Alyn Smith himself.

SNP needs to investigate this leak and take action. Makes them look utterly shambolic.

JoyceJeffries · 18/06/2019 23:47

Are they kicking it into the long grass?
