I was called a uterus haver, in a what'sapp chat, aimed at promoting female health,in a family chat...
The person who sent it is very woke, does lots for the community, lgbt and sporting.
I didn't reply as did no one else.
I said to my partner that it is an attempt at normalising that language, the one that can't say woman...

So how did you get called a 'uterus haver' then? I really think you need to call it out.

I was trying to change the information so I wouldn't be outed as I know this person is a TRA... I wanted to reply and say, can you please say women as my partner now thinks he need a smear test.. Childish I know, but other that going full GC on her what could I do?

Whole post just weird. From op

🤦‍♀️

quixote9 · 11/05/2019 23:02

Since it's in-laws keep it ostensibly polite? "I understand you're trying to call people by the terms they prefer. I prefer "woman." Thanks."

KennDodd · 11/05/2019 23:02

That update about the cervix does shed a slightly different light. 'If you have a cervix' have a smear test is not offensive in any way imo. It can be said in the same way as 'if you have eyes, get an eye test'.

DonkeyHohtay · 11/05/2019 23:02

So what would a woman post-hysterectomy be then ? A uterus loser

That would be me. I haven't lost anything though. It was removed surgically and I knew it was going to be happen in advance.

Woman will do just fine. Human adult female.

littlbrowndog · 11/05/2019 23:03

Tell him to piss off and stop being such a wanka would work for me

That’s how our family WhatsApp goes if someone is being a wanka

cdtaylornats · 11/05/2019 23:04

Uterus owner would play against the woke vibe. Having hegemony over your body parts is uncool - why not just go with uterus enslaver.

SoupDragon · 11/05/2019 23:05

can you please say women as my partner now thinks he need a smear test..

Why would he think that given he doesn't have a cervix?

Thatsnotmyotter · 11/05/2019 23:05

So someone said ‘if you have a cervix, have a smear’? That’s a totally reasonable statement. Women who don’t have a cervix needn’t get smears. Nothing woke about that.

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 11/05/2019 23:07

So, in Ireland the full agenda hasn't reached here, there are a few, (like Francis Fitzgerald,For any Irish women here) , that are pushing the trans agenda. Still hospitals and prisons remain "single sex-on a case to case basis, as need be".. But this same cousin signed the "We need to Talk" letter that no-platformed Megan Murphy in Ireland.

If you have testicles get those checked too. I would have replied.

Lougle · 11/05/2019 23:08

It's actually quite accurate, in this context. If a woman has had a partial hysterectomy, she still needs a cervical smear. If a woman has had a total hysterectomy, she does not need a smear, despite still being a woman. If a transgender woman (f2m) has not had a total hysterectomy, they will need a smear, despite identifying as a man.

'If you have a cervix, get a smear' is fine. 'If you are a cervix haver, get a smear' is Hmm

littlbrowndog · 11/05/2019 23:08

Offs.

You don’t need to,argue the toss on this.

Piss off does it . Every single adult person on your WhatsApp will be in agreement

TrixieFranklin · 11/05/2019 23:08

Eh?

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 11/05/2019 23:09

little it sounds cliche, but really everyone knows everyone in Ireland. All it would take is for a TRA of my cousin-in -law to say,is, did you you see that post on Mumsnet about cervix havers...

OP posts:
floraloctopus · 11/05/2019 23:11

Why not reply and call them a dick haver, you can abbreviate it to dick for brevity.

littlbrowndog · 11/05/2019 23:11

And .... what would happen

DonkeyHohtay · 11/05/2019 23:11

If a woman has had a total hysterectomy, she does not need a smear, despite still being a woman.

Agreed. If you could just join up that thinking between my GP and whoever at the health board sends out the reminders, that would be great. Every three months or so I get a cross letter reminding me my smear is overdue. Cervix disappeared on a surgical tray about 4 years ago.

7Days · 11/05/2019 23:12

I think I'd reply something like, Timely reminder, WokeCuzIL, a woman at work was saying the exact same thing today, there was 6 of us women at the table and every one of us decided to make our appointment there and then. Women need to make sure we get looked after.

I can imagine the type of thing, throwing a few womans into y iui or reply will get your message across and he'll be forced to look like a knob or accept it. No body else will bat an eyelid as it's just common sense.

Genderfreelass · 11/05/2019 23:13

Slightly different with more context but could you not have said something along the lines of "testes havers need to keep a check as well" talking about testicular cancer concerns in the same vein as they are talking g about cervical cancer should not lead to outing as GC.

SoupDragon · 11/05/2019 23:15

Why not reply and call them a dick haver

Is it a man? The OP refers to them as "her"

RumpoleoftheBaileys · 11/05/2019 23:16

Anyone who has a cervix needs a smear test.

What does that have to do with anyone other than women?

littlbrowndog · 11/05/2019 23:16

Gawd it’s family WhatsApp

No need for all the angst.

Say what the truth is

No need to pander to the idiots
