I agree OP 'very pathetic male trying to intimidate strong women'.
Not working very well though is it. Grin

borntobequiet · 08/05/2019 20:19

Extraordinary that anyone is trying to defend or minimise this. Or suggest that women can just as easily rape men.
Words fail me.

R0wantrees · 08/05/2019 20:19

Erm no it's not. Woman can just as easily rape men.

User6949671

No, it is a specifically male crime in the UK .

Woman commit acts of violence and rape against men to

Haha! Sooooo predictable.

And no, they don't. In the UK, the crime of rape requires a penis.

And, of course, that leetle statistic where sex crimes are committed by men, 98% of the time.

You didn't even last as long as most MRAs.

TheInebriati · 08/05/2019 20:26

Abusive men like to tell us we are overreacting to their comments, what is the matter with us, they were only joking.
They like to frame these comments as a free speech issue.

Well here we are, using our right to free speech.

Erythronium · 08/05/2019 20:26

Can we really? Do you have the stats on that then?

Hithere12 · 08/05/2019 20:34

User6949671

Woman commit acts of violence and rape against men to

Hahahaha you can’t be serious. Men are raped by other men, often in prison, maybe that’s where you’ve heard men get raped but it isn’t by women.

How many men vs women are hospitalised by their partners User?

Hithere12 · 08/05/2019 20:36

The discussion needs to be had just do t see why this Muppet is the total focus. Makes a farce out of the conversation. That's it

The reason he is the focus is because he is standing as an MEP. So he could potentially influence British politics.

donquixotedelamancha · 08/05/2019 20:45

Woman can just as easily rape men.

I think we may have inadvertently got to the motivation behind your anger towards women user but I just want you to know that we are not the same as this 'woman' who hurt you.

This is a safe space, you are among friends now. Tell us what happened.

(((((((((((((((((((((((User6949671)))))))))))))))))))))

User6949671 · 08/05/2019 20:45

I really don't think stats matter in the fact of violence. Violence is violence. Why are women worth more than men??

Deathgrip · 08/05/2019 20:49

Have you been raped user?

I have, by more than one man. Many of the women you’re currently mansplaining rape to (incorrectly, to boot) have been raped too.

So please don’t try to tell us how to feel about a man this desensitised to misogynistic violence running as a fucking politician. He’s so desensitised to it that he happily wrote this down and posted it on the fucking internet without a second thought. He thinks he’s untouchable.

I’ve always wanted to go into local politics - the fact is that the male violence I’ve suffered makes me too afraid. Meanwhile, this arsehole is happy to make “jokes” like this in public knowing that even this is unlikely to prevent him from being successful - that’s how little women matter. Please don’t tell us that we shouldn’t be angry about this.

Deathgrip · 08/05/2019 20:52

Why are women worth more than men??

Are you fucking kidding me? Women worth more? That’s why only 1.7% of reported rape cases are now prosecuted is it, because we are worth more?

ODFOD.

And violence is not violence. I’ve been hit, and I’ve been raped. They are not the same thing and you may recognise that if you lived in fear of being sexually assaulted as so many women do - but you know that’s extremely unlikely to ever happen to you. But no, to you it’s just a joke - and that’s the problem.

User6949671 · 08/05/2019 20:55

I am a woman for goodness sake!?!
And yes I have been In that unfortunate situation and had to deal with the aftermath without support and Compton in secret.
Woman and just as horrible and evil as men can be I don't understand why woman should be worth more than a man in any situation.
Any one can be a victim regardless of sex, height, colour weight ect
I never once said you could not be angry I never once said the guy was in the right I never once said I was on his side.
I do not understand why we need to focus on the man and not the conversation.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 08/05/2019 20:59

It is not about women being worth more than men, @User6949671 - but women are far more likely to be the victim of rape or sexual assault than men. According to the US organisation, the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, 1 in 5 women will be raped at some point in their life, whilst the statistic for men is 1 in 71 - the statistics do not say how many of the sexual assaults against men will be carried out by women, and I would assume that many, if not most will be male on male sexual assault/anal rape.

So, since women are so much more likely to be the victims of rape, of course it is going to be mainly a feminist issue.

woman19 · 08/05/2019 20:59

Deborah Orr on this

Why is misogyny not a hate crime? Why are men rewarded – not tolerated, rewarded – for holding, displaying and advertising such attitudes to women? Why are they allowed to get on with making sick, screwed up contempt for women a part of their “appeal” to others like them? Why are they allowed psychologically to terrorise all women, by targeting particular women for this sort of campaign, which invokes a criminal act of violence that is considered by the United Nations to be a weapon of war

He has been banned from a social media site because of it. But he has not been banned from membership of his political party. On the contrary, his colleagues think that this man is fit to stand for election

R0wantrees · 08/05/2019 21:01

I really don't think stats matter in the fact of violence

Of course facts and statistics matter.
Male violence against women is very serious.

Datun · 08/05/2019 21:02

Woman and just as horrible and evil as men can be I don't understand why woman should be worth more than a man in any situation.

98%, versus 2%.

98, 2.

The penny is in the air...

ThePurportedDoctoress · 08/05/2019 21:02

So... what exactly is the conversation about, if this tosser Benjamin isn't relevant to the conversation?

IrishGal21 · 08/05/2019 21:04

Rape isn't a joke. Quite right @LordPro Another Youtuber made a rape joke a few years ago and got dropped by his sponsor. He has a very large minor audience and is a 'family vlogger'. Nothing was ever in the papers about the incident but within the weird walls of the Youtube world his fans just saw it as a joke. Maybe these Youtuber feels they can get away with 'joking' about things like this as there is no accountability in the YT space...really there is no ombudman to regulate despite what they say. This Youtuber has got away with a rape joke and is now living in a million pound house.....and still making videos for kids.

OP posts:
donquixotedelamancha · 08/05/2019 21:07

I do not understand why we need to focus on the man and not the conversation.

What conversation? This OP is about CB's ridiculous, attention seeking dickishness and how sad it is that he's a candidate for a majorish party.

There are loads of other posts about male violence, the problems with politics at the moment or the importance of free speech.

powershowerforanhour · 08/05/2019 21:08

So we're discussing it wrong...
Who cares. I don't need "context" or a 100% forsenically accurate discussion by experts to know that rape "jokes" (BANTZ ALERT) are wrong. I don't care if somebody else once said something worse, what about worse scandal, what about Nazi pugs, what about violent women, whataboutwhataboutwhatabout. His political career should be over, off you fuck, bye, next.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 08/05/2019 21:10

I agree, @donquixotedelamancha - the fact that any party would knowingly endorse someone who jokes about rape (and who clearly cannot understand why any woman would feel threatened by rape jokes directed at them) says a lot about that party, and their attitude towards women, in my view.

donquixotedelamancha · 08/05/2019 21:10

Rape isn't a joke.

But it's worse than that. He wasn't joking, there is no satirical content. He wasn't making some kind of valid political point. He is routinely a dick who harrasses women online.

No one is arguing it shows real intent to rape or that the state should silence him. Instead people are rightly pointing out that he's a witless scrote- that is as it should be.

IrishGal21 · 08/05/2019 21:13

^ Said Family Youtuber even said "It is just a joke guys. Come on!" Dismissing it. He didnt get it. He 'apologized' several weeks later (not even with a straight face, he giggles in it) after his management told him to ...and removed the incriminating vlog. Obviously they knew it was inappropriate but more importantly a PR disaster they had to sweep under the carpet. And they were successful as no media outlet report it.
