Another pathetic male trying to intimidate a strong woman

OP posts:
CylindraceousNicholas · 09/05/2019 08:56

And to the fabulous Jess Phillips who takes so much crap with so much resilience of spirit...

Yes, she is wonderful.

CylindraceousNicholas · 09/05/2019 08:58

A but like shoeonhead, the ultimate anti-feminist female YouTube vlogger. "I'm not like THOSE bad feminists"

CylindraceousNicholas · 09/05/2019 08:58

((not saying she is wonderful, I meant shoeonhead as an example of "cool girl" trope))

BertrandRussell · 09/05/2019 09:00

Cylindrical- do you have a purpose in posting? Or are you just one of the “women do it too” brigade......

CylindraceousNicholas · 09/05/2019 09:02

What? Did I not say why I thought some women involve themselves in these types of "jokes?". That some are trying to be the cool girl and give an anti-feminist vibe? I was just looking at reasons related to men/culture that they would join in, which seems like it's for male approval

CylindraceousNicholas · 09/05/2019 09:04

So yes, "women do don it too" BUT that really wasn't my point, my point was what reasons do women have to do it, and is it different to the motivation if men? I think it is, they throw other women under the bus to look "fun" or whatever.

CylindraceousNicholas · 09/05/2019 09:08

Or you know, maybe it's not a cool girl act? Maybe they have been duped by the prevailing rape culture to genuinely believe it's ok? I don't know. I'm just saying I've never seen a woman tell those jokes on her own, a male is usually around or has started it and then they join in. Like they lower their moral standards for the approval of the man. Much like how some women slag off other women for being "sluts", a lot of that I think is down to men's influence.

birdsdestiny · 09/05/2019 09:12

Don't know if the is helpful but on a thread about a woman being threatened by rape by a man I have just gone back through the last 3 pages and counted 55 posts on the subject of women raping men, there were about 5 posts on the issues relating to Jess Phillips. To be fair most of the posts were cylindra talking to themselves but I think engaging means we are not talking about Jess Phillips.
I imagine she is scared and stressed. I think if we continue engaging with this nonsense we are complicit in minimising this.

CylindraceousNicholas · 09/05/2019 09:17

I'm sorry. Jess is an amazing woman. My last replied were just picking up on "I've never heard a woman joke about raping anyone" and I think it's important to see that women do but their reasons are entirely different and related to the patriachy/rape culture/male approval.... Which is a feminist take on it, e.g. it's not "women are as bad as men and do the same" it's "some women do but the reasons are complex and usually related to gender stereotypes and not challenging men/the whole feminazi narrative in the younger generation/rise of liberal feminism etc".

Actually, doesn't sh0eonhead, anti-feminist 'wage gap does not exist!" woman know/talk to Sargon if Akkad from the UKIP video? Think she defended him.

CylindraceousNicholas · 09/05/2019 09:20

I thought I recognised him from somewhere Confused

So much shit Corbyn got for "stupid woman" under his breath, but not so much about the rape threat or about saying "if a woman is being a massive bitch" in a public place. Interesting skew there

((and said so proudly!))no doubt they would take as much pride in "hitting women back" too. They are usually those types.

BertrandRussell · 09/05/2019 09:29

@AGoodWench- examples, please.

R0wantrees · 09/05/2019 09:31

This is in the context of online abuse of female MPs & prevelence of misogyny/harrassment against women & girls on social media:
Amnesty study: www.amnesty.org.uk/online-violence-women-mps

Toxic Twitter: www.amnesty.org/en/latest/research/2018/03/online-violence-against-women-chapter-7/

CylindraceousNicholas · 09/05/2019 09:32

Rowantrees

That video, she comes across so strong (in a good way), and focused. Gets straight to it being about power and not sex (another thing I think a lot of people don't understand).

For some reason I always get an image of Jessica Eaton and not Jess Phillips in my head, but they are both amazing.

TheRedBarrows · 09/05/2019 09:34

Jess P dies tell people to fuck off on Twitter. It gave Lily Madigan grist to her mill when she was criticised for telling Maya F to ‘go fuck your self ‘

ThePurportedDoctoress · 09/05/2019 09:34

Back to the UKIP candidate Carl Benjamin and his attitude towards women and feminism. Someone suggested that his comments have been "spliced" together or taken out of context. In what context is it ok to blame women and feminism for the actions of a murderous incel?

“This is what feminism has wrought – a generation of men who do not know what to do, who are being demonised for what they are,” said Benjamin, who uses the name Sargon of Akkad on social media.

“Before your stupid social justice feminist bullshit, it didn’t happen on this scale. It’s crazy – this is a disease of the modern age,” Benjamin said in the 2014 video, recorded after the murder of six people in California that year by a 22-year-old man who said the killings were a response to women rejecting him sexually.

“You are responsible for perpetuating it, by disenfranchising these poor fucking guys who don’t have any options left,” Benjamin said.

CylindraceousNicholas · 09/05/2019 09:36

In what context does she tell people to fuck off though? Women don't have to be nice all the time, was it in relation to provocation?

CylindraceousNicholas · 09/05/2019 09:39

You are rsponsible for perpetuating it, by disenfranchising these poor fucking guys who don’t have any options left

"No options left" ? Maybe don't rape/kill/abuse women? Don't think you are entitled to women? Jheez!

SaskiaRembrandt · 09/05/2019 09:40

Jess often uses intemperate language herself. It's her schtick.
Fair enough (so do I!) but I'm afraid it makes her a bit of a hypocrite in my eyes. Having followed this far too closely I think they are both going low as it were.

I'm confident that she has never 'joked' about raping anyone. And maybe I just have ridiculously high standards, but I don't think using 'intemperate language' is justification for some to 'joke' about the likelihood them raping you.

CylindraceousNicholas · 09/05/2019 09:41

"no option left" but to shoot people for sexual rejection.? That is staggering.

This is Gerard Batten (UKIP leader) defence of Benjamin.
www.bbc.com/news/av/uk-politics-48106508/ukip-leader-gerard-batten-on-candidate-s-rape-comments

Interesting to see how Battern refers to Jess Phillips 'someone' 'that MP',

Also of his misrepresentation & defence of MRA Philip Davies MP

I strongly dislike JP and wouldn't vote for her but this guy should never be allowed to stand. What worries me especially is they the bbc interviewed a local reporter, who said that a few years ago this behaviour would have been (rightly) viewed as abhorrent. But politicians have become so unpopular that voters don't care.
