Another pathetic male trying to intimidate a strong woman

OP posts:
Hithere12 · 08/05/2019 18:45

I pity the women in his life

There is always the optimism, that there aren't and there never will be - hopefully

He has a wife and step daughter I’m afraid.

Hithere12 · 08/05/2019 18:46

Men are always trying to tell us that rape jokes are no big deal

How is it even a “joke” either? What’s the punchline? People think they can say the most vile things, say it’s a “joke” and morons will just believe that

GingerKittenHuman · 08/05/2019 18:47

This man is vile. He clearly has no respect for women. Under no circumstances is joking or satirising sexual violence against women acceptable. When these dunces make these comments I wonder how they’d feel if another man said that about their mother/sister/daughter/wife.

Anyone who thinks this is OK or just satire has been brainwashed and groomed, imo.

User6949671 · 08/05/2019 18:49

I don't want the discussion to stop, not at all. I would rather not see it constantly in the news with bits of spliced together nonsense, it is a genuine.conversation that needs to sadly be had, I just can't help but feel the press is not doing the narrative any favours when they are caught out falsifying facts and quotes, the people that follow him can't go but think it's proof they're vilifying there hero which in turn will bring out more crazies and make the situation worse.
If the man is so much worse that the rape comment, which yes is horrific enough, why do they have to piece together things to make him sound worse than he already is.
The press make the situation worse by calling for blood at every opportunity with no real talk about should change when we get the blood.
So the dudes convicted awesome one less moron but no law change or harsher punishment or sanction on the next twit to fill his place it's just a sad endless cycle that should in no way exist.

LittleAndOften · 08/05/2019 18:50

The Internet is infinite. Comments don't die. They go on and on finding new audiences as time goes on, so context means nothing. In light of this, any comment which perpetuates a misogynistic culture, even more so with rape culture, deserves to be highlighted and discredited as many times as it takes to stop it happening again.

Erythronium · 08/05/2019 18:54

If he gets convicted the next misogynistic fucker who comes along might think twice before he opens his mouth to threaten raping a woman. It's called deterrence and it's one of the things that the criminal justice system was created for. You're trying really hard to minimise this, but it isn't working.

placemats · 08/05/2019 19:00

Yes it is all they have on the guy so you can safely go on now and vote for UKIP.

I won't be voting for UKIP.

The personal is the political.

Deathgrip · 08/05/2019 19:02

if this is all they have on the guy

Jesus fucking Christ.

R0wantrees · 08/05/2019 19:03

The press make the situation worse by calling for blood at every opportunity with no real talk about should change when we get the blood.

Why the talk of blood?

R0wantrees · 08/05/2019 19:05

I won't be voting for UKIP.

The personal is the political.

There's quite a history of sexism & misogyny in UKIP.

placemats · 08/05/2019 19:07

UKIP and The Brexit Party are going to split the leave vote, plus those vestiges of the Tory and Labour parties.

That's why there is talk of blood.

This bloodshed on the streets of the UK if the UK decide to remain in the EU is never going to happen.

User6949671 · 08/05/2019 19:07

How the hell am I minimising it?
Just saying if this crap is such the freaking hot topic of the week why cant we maxamise on it in a way that doesn't keep biting back, why fabricate stuff that can come back to haunt you in such a big name paper, why give the crazies more amuniton, why cant it just be a straight forward fight for change with out the lies and bs. That's what makes change take so damn long, the lies and added retoric where none is needed, clearly there is no deterring these people bacusae there is always another one out there, no one takes the crime or punishment seriously and that is not just down to people like Benjamin, clearly just printing rubbish in the papers and making people angry is not working, stop spreading lies to allow the conversation to actually be heard instead of drowned out and forgotten with the rest of the sorry mess when things go awry.

placemats · 08/05/2019 19:08

I'm a citizen who voted remain.

User6949671 · 08/05/2019 19:09

talk if blood as in 'aying for blood' it's just a saying. No real blood. Calling for punishment or retribution.

Erythronium · 08/05/2019 19:17

"this one comment seems to be all they hang on"

This one comment about raping a female MP.

"People can tell the difference between comedy and threats surely?"

A ""joke" about raping a female MP,

"it's a total witch hunt"

Reporting on and discussing a political candidate talking about raping a female MP.

"I just feel he's a scape goat"

He's the political candidate who talked about raping a female MP.

That's some of your minimisation. I couldn't quote it all.

"stop spreading lies"

No, it's true, he did talk about raping Jess Phillips. He's not repentant either. He;s not fit to represent the electorate, especially women and girls. That's the issue here,.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 08/05/2019 19:19

Would he laugh off some man saying the same about his wife or stepdaughter (or mum, dad or son for that matter).

Would he say 'come on love it's funny - get over it, it's a joke, just a laugh...' when someone close to him tells him that they were told this at school, in the street or over the internet?

Would he find it funny if a man said that to him - a really big man who could easily overpower him and rape him if he put his mind to it?

I suspect not. Didn't he also 'joke' about being too poor to date girls, etc?

Datun · 08/05/2019 19:46

People can tell the difference between comedy and threats surely?"

"it's a total witch hunt"

"I just feel he's a scape goat"

The thing you have to understand, user, is that threats of rape and violence is the single most significant thing that men have over women in order to create the oppression in the first place.

Without that hanging in the air, in the background, they'd have no fucking chance.

And even the good guys benefit from it. Even a raised voice, is benefiting from all the punches another man has delivered.

So when Benjamin jokes about rape, or minimises rape, he is, beyond doubt, utilising and exploiting systematic violence against women.

The fact that it trips so easily off the tongue, merely demonstrates how ingrained his sense of superiority over women is and how instinctive it is to leverage violence to maintain it.

User6949671 · 08/05/2019 20:00

Woman commit acts of violence and rape against men to.

R0wantrees · 08/05/2019 20:01
Hmm
LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 08/05/2019 20:03

Useretc - are you a man or woman?

R0wantrees · 08/05/2019 20:03

User
Rape is a specifically male crime.

Erythronium · 08/05/2019 20:08

LOL. It was always going in that direction wan't it?

Raoe requires a penis User. So unless you're talking about the new special type of women we have now committing rape, you're talking rot.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 08/05/2019 20:11

@User6949671 - can you explain why you think rape jokes are OK? Not ‘because it is black humour, blah blah...’ but how you would explain that rape is just funny, and an acceptable topic for joking.

Rape jokes are a huge problem for women. In my opinion, if you normalise jokes about rape, and make it something that is OK to laugh at, you have taken a big step towards normalising less ‘jokey’ rape comments.

You are creating an atmosphere in which rape is not a horrendous crime, but a subject for hilarity - and that helps create an society where rape threats on social media are OK, and sexual violence is not seen as a bad thing, by some in society.

User6949671 · 08/05/2019 20:11

Erm no it's not. Woman can just as easily rape men.

User6949671 · 08/05/2019 20:14

The discussion needs to be had just do t see why this Muppet is the total focus. Makes a farce out of the conversation. That's it.
