Did anyone see it?
She was there to discuss the LGBT sandwich in M&S, however she began speaking about the erasure of lesbians at pride and ended by shouting out to viewers to google the cotton ceiling.
Worth a watch
Well done Sonia

Is this like Pomo musical chairs, where we all pick a new identity when the music stops?

LangCleg · 07/05/2019 11:28

How is saying i am Spartacus inflammatory

It's all in the Site Stuff threads when MNHQ introduced the extra rules for FWR. Kate specifically said they'd be deleting Spartacus type threads and, indeed, Pratchet had at least one, I think maybe two, threads deleted for just that reason shortly after.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 07/05/2019 11:29

I miss Pratchet

FloralBunting · 07/05/2019 11:30

I'd like to be Sonia. Or Datun.

But, as per a conversation I've recently had with Lang, I rather fear I am Cassandra is more appropriate.

LangCleg · 07/05/2019 11:32

Actually, it was Justine.

Nonetheless we do believe that as a rule Spartacus-type threads are not conducive to a constructive debate and that trans people would be likely to feel attacked and/or excluded by them.

But that never happens! Wink

FloralBunting · 07/05/2019 11:34

I obviously mean this Cassandra Wink

Oh bloody hell. Prescient!

Slumcat · 07/05/2019 11:48

thats a big spike

I’d say more of a peak.

OP posts:
HumberElla · 07/05/2019 11:52

That’s a good graphic illustration of a very peaky peak indeed!

ThePankhurstConnection · 07/05/2019 11:54

I just watched she was awesome. Excellent work Sonia.

R0wantrees · 07/05/2019 11:56

Actually, it was Justine.

Nonetheless we do believe that as a rule Spartacus-type threads are not conducive to a constructive debate and that trans people would be likely to feel attacked and/or excluded by them.

This was just as the government's survey on gender self id was launched & Penny Mordant (Minister for Women & Equalities) had said the starting point for the consultation was that TWAW.

Justine also acknowledged the context:
"And we absolutely see why some of Penny Mordaunt’s words yesterday would raise concerns amongst those with a gender critical POV - so maybe it wasn’t, in retrospect, the best moment to make a point"

OP Pratchet wrote Tue 03-Jul-18
"A woman is an adult female human
Of the sex whose reproductive role is to gestate and bear young.

Let's just say this while we still can. Because it's true, and however many people try to make us lie about it, or remain silent, it will always be true.

In times of universal deceit, speaking the truth is a revolutionary act.

It hurts MY feelings to see 'transwomen are women'. It damages MY mental health to see that, it makes ME feel erased and MY identity feel destroyed. I have a voice and I deserve that voice. WE deserve it.

I am Spartacus. A woman is an adult female human. Sex is binary, immutable and defined by reproductive role.

If you report me, or get me banned you shoot the messenger. Because this is true and will always be true. And this day, this day of a lie, I WILL say it.

#Spartacus"

FannyCann · 07/05/2019 12:25

Does Harrop mean 'wrest' control?
Yes but really he wanted an arrest.
Did he remember to cc the police?

EmpressLesbianInChair · 07/05/2019 12:37

Oh good can I be Datun ?

No, I'm Datun.

FloatOn · 07/05/2019 12:56

This, this is brilliant! Well done Sonia, just watched it and Eamonn and Rochelle were struggling!

Also checked out Sonia's twitter, there seems to be a few TRAs sending nasty posts and threatening pictures, if you're reading this Sonia, we're all behind you.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/05/2019 13:05

I just had a moments idle curiosity about whether the word 'datun' had some meaning...

MissEyre · 07/05/2019 13:17

wow!

it's also a bit surreal because of the sandwich element...

Nightowlreturns · 07/05/2019 13:22

That was so funny, loving the other guest trying to keep talking about the sandwich! “But how can you express that in a sandwich” 😂

ILuvBirdsEye · 07/05/2019 13:35

ErrolTheDragon I had a neem tree in my backyard growjng up. Used a datun a lot as a child. Maybe that was what made me fight for time for girls on the cricket pitch when I was little Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 07/05/2019 13:46

I finally got round to listening to the interview... good they had 2 women interviewees, and that eamonn had his mouth full half the time.

And even he made a reasonable point on 'pinkwashing' ... too much stonewall gloss, not enough substance.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 07/05/2019 14:02

I just watched it too. Tee hee

I know R0wan said this already, but

how do we express this through a sandwich?

Is my new go to question when faced with any new concept

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/05/2019 14:36

Reminds me of my early days of teaching and the 'story sandwich' we used to create every autumn.

Everything you needed to include in a story displayed in a sandwich.

Looked good covered in tissue paper and cut out adjectives, indicated you knew what you were aiming for, work of pure fiction and definitely not edible.

SophoclesTheFox · 07/05/2019 15:15

I keep saying to myself “yes, but how do we express that through a sandwich” and falling about laughing Grin

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 07/05/2019 15:23

I comprehensively peaked a guy at work today by asking the sandwich question and explaining the context, including lesbians being removed from Swansea Pride by the Police for saying that they are same sex attracted

It’s a great conversation starter
