Has anyone seen the Get The L Out women at Swansea Pride today?
twitter.com/objectuk/status/1124626303938965504?s=21

The police have removed lesbians from the event for stating what women don’t have penises.

Kudos to the lesbians who staged this protest. I wish I'd known.

OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 04/05/2019 13:08

This truly is a war on women.

Saw it on twitter.

RuffleCrow · 04/05/2019 13:12

Well done those women. What possible charges could the police bring against them? "Quoting verbatim from a dictionary in a public place"?

howonearthdidwegethere · 04/05/2019 13:44

Maybe we all need to show up at our local Pride march to support lesbians. Does anyone know if there are coordinated plans to do this? e.g. by local lesbian* groups

  • the adult female homosexual type
OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 04/05/2019 13:53

I’m happy to show up to support lesbians. Happy to travel.

Right. I'm a police officer, a member of the BAWP (British association of Women in Policing) and The Police LGBT network.
I simply refuse to believe that these women were removed from the protests because they were lesbian. The good old 'free speech' adage would prevent that. I would think there is a lot more to this story than would appear on the surface. Before I joined the police, I did some leafletting about No More Page Three outside Tesco. A dickhead bloke showed up, piping up with his opinions, jumping in when people were signing the petition. There were some police there just in case and they, annoyingly at the time, but quite rightly, wouldn't and couldn't remove him, unless any public order offences had been committed etc.
The same would go for Swansea Pride. It's not my force but I would be very interested to see the real reason she was removed, because let me tell you - it's not because she was a lesbian.

2BthatUnnoticed · 04/05/2019 14:40

I thought they were removed because “Lesbians don’t have penises” is regarded as hate speech.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 04/05/2019 14:42

Presumably as trans activists have deemed it is transphobic to state that 'women don't have penises' and 'woman = adult human female' she was removed for transphobia. Police forces up and down the country have been weaponised by lobby groups (via training) to target women speaking scientific truths and this is the result. Of course she may have made bomb threats, forcibly stopped people going into a building, been masked with a dog or threatened someone that they'll be sacked from their job - but to date, it's only those threatening and silencing women who make those threats. Funny that.

Why is it so hard to believe? The police ring members of the public to tell them to 'check their thinking'. The PCC of that particular force had an absolute car crash of a response to it on twitter. Official police twitter feeds have endorsed messages such as 'no terfs welcome here'. For some reason professionalism seems to go out of the window where trans is concerned. I'm surprised anybody would be surprised at this latest development.

R0wantrees · 04/05/2019 14:59

May be worth finding out the pre-planning agreements between Swansea Pride & the local police force.

The statements / assurances to the trans cmmunity by the Prides since London 2018 have been increasingly determined to silence lesbians from stating that women don't have penises.

There's a determination to have any such lesbians with banners removed- presumably with force if neccessary.

Right, because the Police are so trustworthy, decent and fair all the time. Please.

BasilFaulty · 04/05/2019 15:05

Do you have any sources for this? Because I find it very hard to believe that any officers would ever have the time to receive such training!

I do understand the concerns, I really do. But please don't tarnish Police as heavy handed bullies when no one here was at Swansea pride that day.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 04/05/2019 15:07

Are you new here? This is something discussed at length on these boards, with the relevant sources.

Genderfreelass · 04/05/2019 15:08

I would imagine there will videos showing more context Basilfaulty. However based on recent events I'm not actually surprised by this. Wasn't a black lesbian removed from May Day March for a banner station g Woman = adult human female, a dictionary definition? Yet the racists that were in her face even using the 'N' word, were allowed to stay. 7 City police no less called to remove lesbian Julie Long for sitting on a chair at supposedly inclusive event she had I believe booked in advance to attend. I could go on but these 2 incidents alone are so appalling ax to get my point across.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 04/05/2019 15:09

Some of them are though. Some of them are ringing people for wrong think. Some of them ask rape victims why they don’t look more upset. Some of them beat their wives and have their friends cover it up. Some of them remove lesbians from Pride marches. Please don’t come to a feminist board and tell us how to speak about the police.

Basil police officers even posted screen shot of the mermaids training on their twitter. Mermaids has also listed which forces they have trained. Other lobby groups have trained other public bodies. PC tampon is quite open about the training he has received and seems oblivious to how ludicrous and inappropriate members of the public find his actions when he works for the same force that fined a woman for reporting DV, the woman was subsequently murdered by the man.

theOtherPamAyres · 04/05/2019 15:40

I simply refuse to believe that these women were removed from the protests because they were lesbian.

Breach of the peace, wilful obstruction, local bye-laws - there are a raft of powers given to the police to frogmarch people out of the way, using 'as much force as is reasonably necessary' and persuasion. Arrests aren't usually necessary or proportionate.
