Has anyone seen the Get The L Out women at Swansea Pride today?

The police have removed lesbians from the event for stating what women don’t have penises.

At no point were they removed from the event. They were sat in the highway blocking the entire parade. They were moved off the highway and allowed to protest on the pavement.

That's not in quite the same order as on the ultrababy.

Get The L Out have put a statement on their youtube page:

Get The L Out Statement – Swansea Pride 04/5/2019

Yesterday around 11.15 pm, two of us marched in front of the Swansea pride with banners
Our banners stated: “transactivism erases lesbians” and “lesbians don’t have penises”.
We walked in front of the march but backwards so that the banners would be visible to the demonstrators including to the security staff and to the police.
We did not stop walking or delay the parade.
Immediately we were faced by police and security staff who physically stood in front of us and we felt aggression and hostility from their part.
The security and police tried to manhandle us, touched us on several occasions, touched our banners and tried to take them down and told us repeatedly that we had to leave.
We asked: “Are lesbians not allowed on this march?” and got no answers. We asked why we were asked to leave that we had a right to be here as it is a public place. We were told we were “spoiling” the parade.
The police and security pressure intensified.
We kept marching backwards and felt threatened, as the police/security staff was touching us.
One of the lesbians said: ”don’t touch me – stand back”.
The other lesbian was cornered by several officers and sat down. The police officers then grabbed the lesbian on the floor and removed her from the march to the side of the march.
The whole episode was very quick, a few minutes in total.
After having been removed we stood on the side of the march holding our banners and chanting pro-lesbian statements
More police officers joined to stand in front of us.

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/sexual-assault-harassment-metropolitan-police-metoo-london-a8845811.html%3famp

How can women, who are the victims of most sexual assaults, feel safe seeking protection or justice from a police force with such terrible levels of complaints against its own officers?
“And how can we be sure complaints are being taken seriously when it appears little is being done to address the issue internally and formal disciplinaries are so rare?

MenuPlant · 05/05/2019 17:30

Just goes to show that different people have different experiences driven to a large extent by the type of crime and the type of victim.

Those who experience crimes that are not of interest to them, or who are the wrong sort of victim, have different views to those who fit the bill more of the sort of crimes and people the police (and general society) think are worthwhile.

No shit sherlock.

Get The L Out Statement – Swansea Pride 04/5/2019

At least they held their heads high, put their message across and got the right attention, unlike Jess Bradley at Glasgow Pride

(Any excuse to post the video of Jess, with a purple and pink bag, being mown down by a Pipe Band after a ridiculously short and ineffective protest)

RepealTheGRA · 05/05/2019 17:55

WTF was that theOtherPamAyres

Why are they so shot at protesting or even holding a banner?

What was that one where someone was actually STILL GETTING DRESSED as they staggered along with an upside down banner?

RepealTheGRA · 05/05/2019 17:56

*Shit. They are as shit at protesting as I am at spelling!

RedDogsBeg · 05/05/2019 18:01

Great video Pam, however, I am non the wiser as to what the protest was for/about.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 05/05/2019 18:09

Pride had become - day fancy out for gay men, straight young people (and their stupid people inform rainbows), and exhibitionists. It's no longer 'pride' but 'in yer face, fuckers'.

RepealTheGRA · 05/05/2019 18:33

I’ve found my favourite ‘protest’ video.

Perhaps #GetTheLOut could start delivering training on banner holding? The appears to be a need.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 05/05/2019 19:25

Pride now is just a mens sexual rights movement.

PencilsInSpace · 05/05/2019 19:48

Thank you Pam! 'Jess Bradley Gets Mowed Down By A Marching Band' is one of my favourite videos Grin

TBF the police were quite handy in that video and I accept that I'm probably a hypocrite for enjoying it so much.

At least the brave lesbians had better weather.

theOtherPamAyres · 05/05/2019 20:02

WTF was that theOtherPamAyres?

Jess Bradley and friends were protesting against the inclusion of police officers in the parade. As you can see, they are moved to the side of the road by one officer and a steward. Bradley was mown down by the pipe band.

Afterwards Bradley's group claimed that they were targeted by heavy-handed police, when they had only been peacefully protesting and not holding anyone up. (Sound familiar?) There were five arrests at Glasgow Pride 2017, but not related to this incident.

Pride Glasgow said that it was very disappointed that a small group had put the safety of parade go-ers at risk. That statement led to a dispute and much pearl clutching in LGBT news media but can be summarised as: "Oh no we didn't put people at risk. Oh yes you did. Oh no we didn't. Oh yes you did." And so on.

Freaking0ut · 05/05/2019 20:44

The locals Swansea online shit rag has covered it and the comments make for I incredibly depressing reading. Although I can’t say I’d credit any of them as being brain of Britain 🙄

This is the link. You can follow them on a Facebook in case anyone wants to add some balance to the comments. As much as I’d really like to, I just can’t for fear of my job security.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 05/05/2019 20:56

Wales online is certainly a shit rag. They did a racist poll last year, asking readers if the haka was a meaningless bit of theatre or if it was time to ‘get rid of it’. Fucking swines

ioan2011 · 06/05/2019 15:07

I am there Saturday, there is a photo missing. The Get the L out were not in Parade, they were on the pavement in the main High street and then when the Parade came half way down they went in front of the Parade and police officers and 1 sat in the middle of the road. Police asked her 3 times to move ,she refused so 4 officers carried her to pavement for safety and they were allowed to demonstate there . There were lots of lesbians in the Parade and everyone with families had a fun day after the incident with the police joining in the fun . We are a friendly city which welcomes all .

OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 06/05/2019 17:29

maybe we can have conversations with young people around sexuality in an open and honest age appropriate way

Hmm If a child told a person in a safeguarding position, that they had been exposed to a scenes such as those in the images, then the adult would be expected to report. No ifs, no buts.

It's not who society in general consider to be worthwhile but who the paymasters consider to be worthwhile imo. How many members of the public would support PC tampon, harassment of Harry the Owl... by TRA educated cops? I'm sure most would rather Sussex Police had done something to protect a young woman from murder - rather than fining her - instead of wasting money on PC Tampon policing Tesco labels!

LimeKiwi · 07/05/2019 12:11

Well said @theOtherPamAyres, it's good to hear the "other side" so to speak, and thanks for all you do Flowers

LimeKiwi · 07/05/2019 12:25

Oh, and @ultrababy Flowers my above post applies to you too lol
