Has anyone seen the Get The L Out women at Swansea Pride today?
twitter.com/objectuk/status/1124626303938965504?s=21

The police have removed lesbians from the event for stating what women don’t have penises.

And read that article. Was it written by someone having a bad dream

It’s so bad it’s actually funny. 😂😂🔥🔥

If the police person on twitter account read that then re tweeted

Well

stumbledin · 05/05/2019 00:01

Statement from Swansea Pride saying the police ensured the event was safe!

By that I suppose they mean safe for everyone except lesbians Angry

Bespin · 05/05/2019 00:21

maybe just maybe they meant that allowing a parade of 1000s to safely move forwards without obstruction, therefore not causing issues in relation to crowd safety re bunching and crushing might have been what they meant.

but what fun would that explanation be to anyone.

TheInebriati · 05/05/2019 00:24

How very dare women protest and spoil things for everyone /s

Maybe they've got something to protest about, what with the conversion therapy and everything.

OccasionalKite · 05/05/2019 00:28

North Wales Police / Heddlu Gogledd Cymru:

Does your average woman have a penis? Yes or No?

FFS.

Absolutepowercorrupts · 05/05/2019 00:28

Bespin you really should name change to Myspin

OccasionalKite · 05/05/2019 00:36

Conversation moved on while I was typing.

It would be South Wales Police involved in today's operation, though.

Bespin · 05/05/2019 00:53

Im good thanks, you can have it if you like though. lol

OccasionalKite · 05/05/2019 00:59

Peaceful protest by lesbians,

Dragged off by police,

At a Pride march.

Pride has lost it. Pride is now a men's rights campaign.

AnyOldPrion · 05/05/2019 01:22

”Update from the Police. It seems they were in the way.”

There was a response to this on Twitter that stated they would have marched, presumably at an appropriate pace, but the organisers/security wouldn’t let them.

So they were ejected for being the wrong sort of lesbian.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 05/05/2019 09:29

There's a very illustrative photo on that Twitter thread. Doesn't look like those women were obstructing anybody.

Gronky · 05/05/2019 09:53

In this video, it shows how, at one point, a protester was moving with the parade but then decided to stop in front of the parade, in their words "I'm not moving":

At this point, they were moved by police.

I don't believe it was deliberate on your part but please don't belittle and undermine their protest by downplaying their actions in the name of making a statement.

Genderfreelass · 05/05/2019 10:05

My opinion regarding the police over the last 6 months has plummeted. This is partly due to the appalling mysoginy and unpleasant correspondence from an officer high up in the force after my 3yr old dd was sexually assaulted. Although there was physical evidence from a forensic medical exam the case was not pursued as at 3 she was not articulate enough for it to go to court. On top of that the ridiculous thought policing, PC Tampon of Sussex, fining a DV victim and allowing her to be murdered, removal of peaceful lesbians yet support for violent TRA...

To be quite honest I am of the opinion that the police are no longer fit for purpose if you are female. Even though we fund them through our taxes we are treated as second class citizens from my personal experience and what I have observed. So if police officers don't like the backlash do something about it, start treating women and girls fairly, with dignity and respect. Stop protecting male perpetrators because women and girls matter too.

EverardDigby · 05/05/2019 10:29

In this video, it shows how, at one point, a protester was moving with the parade but then decided to stop in front of the parade, in their words "I'm not moving":

Do we know though whether they just stopped themselves or whether they were stopped by security / police as another tweet said then the not moving was because they refused to get to the side? The video is very unclear!

theOtherPamAyres · 05/05/2019 10:40

How many times does the protester tell the police officer "I'm not moving", in the video posted by @Gronk?

I lost count.

The police officer's demeanour and tone doesn't suggest heavy-handedness or partiality. He tries to negotiate and persuade and is rebuffed with "I'm not moving". He did his job thereafter.

To misinterpret and reframe the Resisters action as a "peaceful protest", when they themselves tell the police that their aim was is to hold up the parade, isn't helpful.

A more helpful message is that Pride will not allow gender critical lesbians to march in the parade. As a result, noisy, shouty protesters will appear spontaneously to challenge their exclusion. They will risk arrest and they will have to be removed by force, because they are not going away until Pride agrees to include them.

Gronky · 05/05/2019 10:47

Do we know though whether they just stopped themselves or whether they were stopped by security / police as another tweet said then the not moving was because they refused to get to the side?

At the start of the video, she is walking backwards, in the direction of the parade, at 1m06s, she turns around then walks forwards in the direction of the parade before stopping at 1m11s (look at the road and the kerb for reference points) with refusals to move.

GabrielleNelson · 05/05/2019 10:52

Meanwhile this was happening.

thatdamnwoman · 05/05/2019 10:55

There are photos of police at Swansea Pride yesterday posing for photos with people who seem female in black dog gimp masks, on all fours, with leads and collars. The police seem to think having women on all fours with leads on is great fun. They're on FB: I can't link to them I'm afraid.

Meanwhile in one FB post a friend showed me on her phone this morning, someone suggests that the women were removed by the police because the word Penises on their banner was offensive. Someone has responded with a photo that shows (it was a small screen) two semi-naked men with dog masks and collars and leads, crouched on all fours with semi-exposed buttocks while a family with children look curiously at their exposed bums.

The majority of the photos in the online version of the Swansea Evening News are of men in drag. Yes, there are women there but the overall impression is male, drag and kink. I take no pride in this.

thatdamnwoman · 05/05/2019 10:56

Ah, Gabrielle, thank you for linking to those pix.

exLtEveDallas · 05/05/2019 10:59

That actually makes me feel queasy Gabrielle. Those kids walking behind...

I was under the impression that Pride was about LGB, not people with fetishes.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 05/05/2019 11:01

Oh yuck, those photos. What the actual is going on with the police???? Wtf?

PencilsInSpace · 05/05/2019 11:03

Up to 1:06 she is saying 'we are not leaving'. She says 'we are not moving' in response to being asked to move to the side of the road. Clearly she is still moving, backwards, in the same direction as the parade.

At around 1:06 she says 'Don't touch me!' - it is then unclear which direction she is moving in. To me it looked like the police and stewards attempted to physically move her to the side of the road while she was still moving.

Only after this does she sit down and say 'we are not moving' as in actually not moving.

GabrielleNelson · 05/05/2019 11:04

It's a striking contrast. The reason the lesbians weren't in the parade, I assume, is because they'd either applied and been turned down, or they took it as read that they wouldn't be allowed to march with that banner. But fetishes and references to BDSM are all absolutely fine. Touting sex work as a terrific career choice is AOK. All in front of impressionable children and teenagers.

PencilsInSpace · 05/05/2019 11:07

Yes those images of the 'pups' are grim af.

Bespin · 05/05/2019 11:07

maybe and again im just guessing here but those people might also be LGBT and that they are proud of who they are and wish to express that. but im sure mumsnet does not approve of people doing that. Also im sure there are some woman out there that do the human pup thing but it does tend to be men.
