TRAs try to ruin Mumsnet survey

2019StandingforWomen · 27/03/2019 14:16

Just seen this one Twitter:

Transactivists are sharing a survey from @MumsnetTowers
(asking for feedback on their message boards), they're encouraging people to identify as users & complain about feminist chat. Mumsnet boards are important to so many women so please show your support

What survey is this does anyone know?

I saw it. Filled it in said I wished to be able to name truths and not lie about what sex people are

nauticant · 27/03/2019 14:23

Perhaps @MNHQ might be interested in this.

Datun · 27/03/2019 14:24

I've reported your post, OP. In order to alert HQ as to what's happened.

Hopefully their tech can disregard people who are not members, or who join specifically to fill out the survey.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 27/03/2019 14:24

Well I am surprised. Were you surprised? I was surprised.

Skewing internet results by organised flooding to mislead and weight results is a standard MO. It renders surveys pointless, so I hope @MNHQ are on to this, and balance accordingly. Or shelve the survey and do this is a way that can't be gamed.

DpWm · 27/03/2019 14:24

It doesn't seem to be closed to only mumsnet users.
Anyone can answer.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/03/2019 14:25

they're encouraging people to identify as users & complain about feminist chat

Good. If MNHQ gets a pile on I don't think they'll get rid of FWR it's provides too much traffic. But it will hopefully emphasise to them the way there is a concerted organised campaign against FWR both on and off the boards.

NoSquirrels · 27/03/2019 14:26

I think they may have closed it... I just filled it in (as I saw it on the boards) and when I got to the end it said "This survey is now closed". Not sure if that's because my response submitted or not... Came over here to see if anyone here knew about it as Feminism and Trans threads questions featured quite prominently.

Jaxhog · 27/03/2019 14:26

Survey is currently closed.

RedToothBrush · 27/03/2019 14:28

Its been closed.

I've just also put a message on the site thread about how the survey has effectively been hijacked by non users

Magenta82 · 27/03/2019 14:29

Do you have a link? I can't get on Twitter at work.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 27/03/2019 14:29

The endless tedious of people who don't want to use MN but do want to make sure they're in control of it and it's members and spoil their site use.

And who believe that if they could just stop women talking about it the problems would all magically disappear.

Site stuff thread.

Survey now closed, and looks like its happened in the last hour

Whatsnewpussyhat · 27/03/2019 14:32

I did the survey. Seemed very targeted towards brexit and FWR.
Of course they will be getting the most traffic as they are very relevant right now.

2019StandingforWomen · 27/03/2019 14:32

We can't have anything can we?

OP posts:
ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/03/2019 14:32

I emailed MNHQ about this and got this reply:

Hi ItsAllGoingToBeFine,
Yes - the survey is now closed. We'll be sure to check for bias.

I wonder how they are going to do that?

MichaelMumsnet · 27/03/2019 14:33

Hi all. Yes - the survey is now closed. Apologies if you missed it - but it's been running since Friday and we have enough responses to begin the evaluation.

RedToothBrush · 27/03/2019 14:34

Im worried MN want to close down political debate on the site as its 'too problematic'.

Woman are not able to discuss politics anywhere else without being spoken down to like they are 5 years old or suffering an extraordinary amount of abuse.

2019StandingforWomen · 27/03/2019 14:35

Mumsnet I love FWR please do not close it down.

It's pretty much the only place I go to on the internet apart from Facebook and Twitter

OP posts:
DpWm · 27/03/2019 14:36

@MichaelMumsnet
And how will you distinguish between which responses are from mumsnet users and which responses are from people "identifying as users" and how will you evaluate that?

Oldermum156 · 27/03/2019 14:37

How sad do you have to be to hate and fear mums, lol

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/03/2019 14:38

And how will you distinguish between which responses are from mumsnet users and which responses are from people "identifying as users" and how will you evaluate that

Especially as many MNers will have filled the survey in anonymously

DpWm · 27/03/2019 14:38

Redtoothbrush
I don't think it's about closing it down. Most of the questions were focussed on "Should staff join in with the chat and how much should we say" sort of thing. Not "Should the chat exist".

Whatsnewpussyhat · 27/03/2019 14:44

Women must not talk about politics or feminism because the men don't like it.

No questions about the style and beauty boards? Baby names? Diets? Pets?

AstonishedFemalePersonator · 27/03/2019 14:45

Well I am surprised. Were you surprised? I was surprised.

I was surprised, too. Especially since one of the question specifically asked about moderation on trans threads.
