Josie Long refers to women as 'terfs'

...and defends the Mermaids jelly baby scale. I'm so pissed off at people like this who have apparently done zero research and yet are happy to put their woke two cents in whilst also casually using misogynistic slurs. How can they not see how utterly sexist it all is? How is calling other women by a derogatory slur at all productive? How is using gender stereotypes in any way helpful? How about if we used them for race? Where would you fit on the race scale? Do you like eating watermelon and ribs or do you have a good sense of rhythm? Then you're more at the black end of the scale. No no no no no. The stereotypes are the problem, we don't need to work with the stereotypes we've got and be told to pick a place on the scale, we need to escape them altogether. FFS.

The irony of a former fat lad and a fat lad making misogynist fun of women’s bodies.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 19/03/2019 11:20

I know @OrchidInTheSun

I know.

What she sees in that rectangle headed cheating twatbag I just don’t get it.

(secretly want her and Nish to get together but that’s me being tragic).

snoutandab0ut · 19/03/2019 11:23

abuse 😂😂😂😂 is that the best you can come up with? Sorry to disappoint you, but I’ve got a vagina. The kind that you’re born with. But carry on holding up fictional satirists as beacons of hope hun

Gone2far · 19/03/2019 11:29

Yes, thanks for letting us know that Jonathan Pie was a fictional character. Hmm. And I actually think that they are useful antidotes to left wing woke comedians. It's just a shame that jp hasn't got the balls to discuss this.

TheMagicFupa · 19/03/2019 11:39

wigglybeezer I also went to see Nish Kumar recently and noticed a very muted response from the audience to his anti Ricki Gervais speech, I thought it was possibly because he emphasised the " just want to pee" toilet angle in a town where a court case involving a transwomen sexually assaulting a child a child in a supermarket toilet was pending

Wow... Yet again I am speechless and furious.
Has anyone mentioned this to him on Twitter? (Sorry for asking instead of checking myself, but Twitter is blocked on my computer Smile ) If they have, what was his response?

Sometimes this stuff brings out the worst in me. Sometimes I look forward to the moment when society finally agrees that this is nonsense, and we all turn and look at Brigstocke and Kumar... Sorry, that's an ugly way to feel, but they'll have deserved it.

Halfeatentoast · 19/03/2019 11:47

Josie has been an outspoken atheist that pats herself on the back for not believing in god (and in a very grating aren't I amazing manner). Then she believes this shite.

Idiot.

Halfeatentoast · 19/03/2019 11:48

Urgh and that Marcus twat too.

abuseofpowercomesasnosurprise · 19/03/2019 11:59

WTF does this even mean? I haven't even mentioned Jonathan Pie at all, who's been around for a few years and I presume by now everyone knows is a parody, which to most would have been obvious upon the first instance of watching of his channel anyway (he's quite funny, but not that good an actor). In response to someone else mentioning Titania McGrath I commented 'Good point! Titania McGrath is the only one who speaks the truth! :D' - which you appear to have taken literally. If I thought it was a real person, how would I therefore know it was comedy, I'd surely just think it was an annoying SJW? The avatar is a CGI generated image of a woman - are you suggesting that I thought that was a real photo too? If so, how are you getting this idea from what I said? And just because yes, I am that pedantic, here's a screenshot of my search history from 9th March where I read an article about Titania McGrath in 'Unherd' magazine. You seem to think you can sidestep being initially patronising by being even more patronising and calling me 'hun' in a sexist manner, whether you have a vag or not. I'd suggest the problem lies in your ability to read and patronising attitude towards women rather than anyone else's ability to detect satire. Is it because Titania McGrath is 'your thing' and you can't stand the thought of anyone else liking it? Fucksake...

TheMagicFupa I thought about it but I don't do Twitter and this was weeks ago now, I couldn't remember all the facts of the case at the time so wasn't sure if I was remembering it correctly ( it's been back in the papers this week as it's come to court, hence me getting belatedly annoyed again).

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 19/03/2019 12:01

It's very easy to say it never happens when you aren't ever going to be the one targeted, and you ignore all of the evidence to say it happens.

Not knowing what's going on is not a good look for someone on a "The Daily Show" type news/comedy show, though.

abuseofpowercomesasnosurprise · 19/03/2019 12:52

Starts a thread showing disappointment at the SJW stance of comedians around trans issues, gets accused of holding up a satirical SJW account as 'a beacon of hope' - just muttering to myself, don't mind me...

Marcus Brigstocke doesn't like women very much. I remember him and Phill jupitus giggling like school boys calling overweight older women's stomachs gunts, a cross between a gut and a cunt.

This speaks volumes. They must hate women.

BertrandRussell · 19/03/2019 16:02

Well, i’ve discovered 2 things today. Richard Osman is a TWAWer- and James O’Brian is much less sure about it than he has appeared in the past. Who’d a thunk?

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 19/03/2019 16:11

Richard Osman is a TWAWer

where did you get that from??

Richard Herring is a TWAW-er, but Osman has always struck me as having more than a nodding acquaintance with reality

CaptainMarvelBunting · 19/03/2019 16:14

Oh please, not Richard Osman. I can't believe a man with that sharp a wit would be one of the dullards who hold to TWAW.

AssassinatedBeauty · 19/03/2019 16:20

They know that transwomen are not like women though... just ask them if they would have a physical sexual relationship with a transwoman especially one who hadn't had any surgery. See how many of these woke dudes could say a convincing yes, to agree that there is such a thing as a female penis, that they would be happy to have "heterosexual" sex with.

They are in a privileged position where they can throw women under the bus and chant TWAW, because it doesn't affect them. They are misogynists and have no care for women, when it comes down to it.

BertrandRussell · 19/03/2019 16:41

Sorry- RO liked Matt Lucas’ tweet.

And James O’Brian is thoughtful and nuanced about the subject in his book.

IfNotNowThenWhy · 19/03/2019 17:39

My theory is that men get on board with TWAW because TW freak them out and they don't want them in mens spaces.
It's also very mysoginistic, all this believing that a woman can be the same as an altered male (wether altered surgically or with falsies and a wig). It's almost as if they don't think women are really a whole actual sex of human.
And I like Richard Herring but he DOESN'T beleive TWAW. It just doesn't affect him if the "non-nen" go in with the women so it's an easy lefty win without them having to lose anything. Josie Long is just an idiot sadly.
I miss Victoria Wood. And Sue Townshend. I wish they had lived long enough to satirise this-I feel almost 100% that they would have been able to dismantle all this lunacy in minutes.

CaptainMarvelBunting · 19/03/2019 17:54

FFS. How many more people in the public eye whom I like and enjoy am I now going to think "Knob" whenever I see them now?

hipsterfun · 19/03/2019 17:57

Sorry to say it, but the answer is ‘most of them’.

hipsterfun · 19/03/2019 17:58

Probably.

TheMagicFupa · 19/03/2019 18:59

Josie Long has now tweeted - "If people are rude to and about Owen Jones it's a real red flag for me."

Wow, Josie - that's some way to pick sides. I could respect her while disagreeing with her, but siding with this furious little misogynist changes things completely for me.

abuseofpowercomesasnosurprise · 19/03/2019 19:25

Owen Jones appears to be some sort of infallible papal figure for her. As with most religions, Jonesism is patriarchal.

NeurotrashWarrior · 19/03/2019 19:40

I now believe that there's two eras.

PPT - Pre peak trans

PTNR - peak trans no return

Comedians who are PPT are still operating in a blissful land of ignorance where there are neat binaries of politics and newspapers but genders are fluid and fancy. So they get wind of trends and pick the sides that match their neat work political persona.

Those that are PTNR are generally cleverer and realise that sex is binary, politics and newspapers are fluid and gender is divisive bollocks. But might sit on the fence a bit if they care too much.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 19/03/2019 19:41

Good heavens

Josie reminds me of me when I was 20, heavily involved with the SWP and basically a twat.

I’m the same age as she is now and it seems only one of us moved on from “Socialism 2001 at Alexandra Palace”.
