I have my reasons for my views, just genuinely no desire to share or push them on anyone else. I know nothing would change my mind so I don't expect to change anyone else's.
I'd be interested to hear what your reasons are, Sloth, since there are many people pushing for gender identity to be recognised who are paedophiles (see my earlier links). Obviously, I'm not suggesting you are, but you must realise that there are some very unsavoury characters on your side of the fence.
I can see why such people might push for the idea of gender identity. It seems to many as a harmless thing for a very young child to have a 'gender identity', even those who would be uncomfortable with the idea of those children having a sexual orientation. But the notion of gender identity cannot be completely detached from sex, since it is usually defined as something like 'a feeling that one's gender does or doesn't align with one's sex'.
If pre-pubescent children have a gender identity, a concept which is inextricably tied to their sex, paedophiles might then argue that such a child has a sexual orientation. Because the notion of gender identity sexualises the child. It must do, because what is one's sex? It's our sexual organs and reproductive capacity. What else is it? If a child has a gender identity, they must also have some feelings about their sexual organs. Which allows the paedophiles in with their idea of children being sexual beings who should be allowed to act in a sexual manner.
