All males are female for first six weeks of pregnancy so even your beloved Linehan was female for first six weeks and had a natural "sex-change" in the womb.

This isn't true. Sex is determined at the moment of conception. There are far more scientific posters on MN than me so I'll leave it to them to educate you.

I suggest you may want to check your embryology. This is —utter bollocks— incorrect.

DoctoressPlague · 19/02/2019 21:51

Was it Dr. Webberley who said that 12-year-olds should be able to decide for themselves because in some countries children of that age fight in wars?

reallyanotherone · 19/02/2019 21:53

You could equally say all humans are frogs for the first couple of weeks before they have a “species change” in the womb.

Doesn’t make me a frog born in a human body.

Gentlygently · 19/02/2019 21:54

No, males aren’t female for the first six weeks of pregnancy. It is possible to genetically test the cluster of cells that is a developing embryo 4 days after fertilisation and find out if it is male or female. Because sperm are either X or Y. And once fertilised, an embryo is male or female. Changing sex, in humans, is not possible.

You do know that every trans adult was once a trans child, many before Mermaids even came along. In fact there wasn't even the world wide web for many as that only came along in 1989. Nobody convinced them they were trans. And why would anybody go through years of psychological evaluations and major surgery, with lifelóng dangerous hormones, just to be abused by people who received an unclassified biology GCSE and never reads actual modern science not written by Blanchard & Co.

Kids know the difference between being a tomboy and being trans - they know better than you do, even if they can't express it yet. And if you force them to be something they are not, that's child abuse. That's what the psychologists are for. And if you can't convince the medics, you don't get treatment on the NHS.

I'm afraid too many have been gaslighted by extreme right-wing evangelicals such as Keen-Minshull and Venice Allan and co. Sadly, many of you don't want to learn the science, just spout your phobic opinions.

Gentlygently · 19/02/2019 21:55

Cross post with many others!

Ereshkigal · 19/02/2019 21:55

Sadly, many of you don't want to learn the science

Hope you're taking notes, given that you were wrong about the science.

See what I mean - you think you know better than the scientists. It's a well known medical fact, apart from to those in denial.

Ereshkigal · 19/02/2019 21:57

Posie and Venice aren't "right wing evangelicals" Grin do you just believe any old goodies v baddies rubbish people tell you?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/02/2019 21:57

See what I mean - you think you know better than the scientists.

Could you please link to some scientific papers confirming that all embryos are initially female?

LizzieSiddal · 19/02/2019 21:59

Hera are you going to comment on the inaccurate information you have re Mermaids?

reallyanotherone · 19/02/2019 21:59

Shit, 8 years at university learning the science I didn’t want to learn.

sits down and waits to be educated

Hera2 i suggest you start with universities and their obviously incorrect teachings. I presume you are some sort of high ranking academic?

CosmicCanary · 19/02/2019 22:01

It's a well known medical fact, apart from to those in denial.

Go for it.
Show where it says this in a medical journal.
It is out dated clap trap.
Just like your precious mermaids mantra girls like pink boys like blue bollocks.

RockyFlintstone · 19/02/2019 22:01

Yes, and the number of transsexuals, who had a diagnosis of gender dysphoria (and who incidentally were not insisting that they were 'actually female' nor trying to barge into female spaces), was very small. Strange isn't it?

RockyFlintstone · 19/02/2019 22:03

See what I mean - you think you know better than the scientists. It's a well known medical fact, apart from to those in denial.

Can you please link to your source for the 'well known medical fact' that all embryos start off female?

Ereshkigal · 19/02/2019 22:03

people who received an unclassified biology GCSE

I got a B, thanks. Damn cheek!

OvaHere · 19/02/2019 22:08

www.gfmer.ch/Books/Reproductive_health/Human_sexual_differentiation.html

This will explain the science for you.

Now if the Division of Biology of Growth and Reproduction, Department of Pediatrics,
University Cantonal Hospital, 1211 Geneva 14, Switzerland can clearly state that sex is determined at conception are they also dumb at science huh? Grin

Ereshkigal · 19/02/2019 22:14

I think we're going to get to "quick google search for some science to back up this obvious fact that everyone in my echo chamber knows... oh shit"
