So it’s happened...

I knew it would and I’ve been dreading how I would deal with it.
My dd has been joined in her female boarding house by a young man called George.
George up until last term was a female.
I’m concerned for George and the pupils are all lovely and he’s getting a lot of support.
But I’m confused as to why he’s in the female boarding house?
Is this normal practice for schools?

Wait till one gets pregnant by George's female penis? Seriously you can complain but you will get dismissed because this never happens

newtlover · 29/01/2019 18:58

George is still female so presents no danger to your daughter
the school has done the right thing

StealthPolarBear · 29/01/2019 18:59

Yes agree they've handled it OK I think

CryptoFascist · 29/01/2019 18:59

The school has been sensible. George is better off where George is, and is not a risk to the other girls.

Bluestitch · 29/01/2019 18:59

If George is a biological female then that's where they should be.

TowelNumber42 · 29/01/2019 19:01

George is female so George is in the right place.

MrsBertBibby · 29/01/2019 19:03

George, being female, is in the right place.

I'd be concerned for him if they put him in the male boarding house.

Good for you daughter and her friends, being supportive to their schoolmate.

ImPreCis · 29/01/2019 19:03

Much better that they have kept George, biological female in your daughters boarding house than introduced ‘Georgina’ who used to be George.

Weetabixandshreddies · 29/01/2019 19:04

But this is what is always being demanded isn't it? The argument being that you can't change sex and that you use the toilets, changing rooms etc of your birth sex.

From your post I am taking it that George is a trans man ie was born female? Therefore surely it's right that they are in the female boarding house? If not, then you would have to accept trans women ie those born male in the female boarding house.

Wait till one gets pregnant by George's female penis?

How can anyone born female get someone pregnant?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 29/01/2019 19:04

George is a woman then? If George says that she really is a man then I’d worry about their rational thinking. George wants to be called he/him? God that’s confusing.

Sexnotgender · 29/01/2019 19:06

If George is a biological female then George is in the right place.

They shouldn’t be in with males because they aren’t male regardless of how George chooses to identify.

BreakYourselfAgainstMyStones · 29/01/2019 19:06

Wait till one gets pregnant by George's female penis?

So quick in wanting to jump on the bandwagon that you didn't even read the op. George can't get anyone pregnant.

In class residential situations my child was given the choice, we always chose a separate space. It's very difficult but George and George's parents would have been involved in the decision making.

Weetabixandshreddies · 29/01/2019 19:08

So quick in wanting to jump on the bandwagon that you didn't even read the op.

Exactly.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 29/01/2019 19:08

Were the other residents given the choice too though?

LizzieSiddal · 29/01/2019 19:09

George is female and is in the correct place.

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 29/01/2019 19:10

I agree with everyone who said George is in the correct place.
George is where he should be definitely.
But..... George is identifying as male and has changed his name to a male name and everyone has been asked to use the pronouns he- him etc.
But he’s boarding with the girls - even though that’s where I want him to be, I feel like it’s such a mind fuck for everyone.

OP posts:
MrsBertBibby · 29/01/2019 19:11

Why should they have a choice? I don't imagine the school lets them have a say in admissions. George is female.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 29/01/2019 19:11

So a female child is boarding with other female children?

Not news.

MrsFogi · 29/01/2019 19:11

The school has done the right thing. Where there will be a HUGE issue is if a school allows a boy who identifies as a girl to join a school. Hmmm.... the approach of girl guides.

Katvonfelttipeyebrows · 29/01/2019 19:11

Are you worried about social contagion? DD1 best friend is trans (is female but ids as male). DD still understands reality reality of biological sex.

I'm bloody relieved they let DD and her bestie sleep together. None of the girl guide bullshit (you know, the oooo they are a boy now, let's kick em out)

Freespeecher · 29/01/2019 19:12

Confusing thread this. Takes me back to reading the Famous Five books.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 29/01/2019 19:12

How old are they?

Sowhatifisaycunt · 29/01/2019 19:14

I suspect that @abbsisspartacus had her tongue quite firmly in her cheek

MrsBertBibby · 29/01/2019 19:14

I feel like it’s such a mind fuck for everyone.

These are, presumably, not a bunch of kindergarteners? They'll cope!

It really isn't that hard. It's just basic manners and accommodation of oddness.

puckingfixies · 29/01/2019 19:16

The school have absolutely done the right thing here, and it sets a precedent. If David becomes Davina next term they can also be housed among those of their biological sex.
