Without MaryZ to fly the flag this is going unnoticed on Mumsnet.

Graham Linehan was invited by RTE to take part in a panel on Trans issues. There are now petitions to have him removed.

9.35 pm on Tuesday. Should be available to watch (in the UK as well) here:

AnyOldPrion · 20/01/2019 11:20

Hope RTE hold to their decision.

teawamutu · 20/01/2019 11:24

When I checked the petition had less than 2,000 signatures and RTE seemed pretty clear that BOTH sides of the debate would be heard. Hold fast, please...

AfterSchoolWorry · 20/01/2019 11:24

The Irish media are depressingly falling over themselves to promote the trans agenda. Even Newstalk never mention a word about it. The silence there is deafening. There is no critical debate. I didn't watch the Primetime show as I strongly suspect it'll just be a cringefest of trans sycophantic wokery. I can't look 😣

Rubidium · 20/01/2019 11:26

AfterSchoolWorry it's on next Tuesday (22nd).

happydappy2 · 20/01/2019 11:36

All this trying to shut down disagreeing voices doesn't do the TRAs any favours. I am so grateful GL is speaking about the potential downsides of any Tom Dick or Harry being able to self ID. Its so obvious that trans issues DO affect womens rights to sex segregated paces.

Katispancuddly · 20/01/2019 11:39

Transwomen are not allowed in Irish female prisons or female hospital wards.

It's interesting.

Bluestitch · 20/01/2019 11:39

I hope he shares his experience of police visits for wrong think on twitter. That TRAs are being indulged by overstretched police forces to harass those who disagree with them is really bloody scary.

Popchyk · 20/01/2019 11:44

Has it been pre-recorded already?

Or is it a live show?

Hope Glinner asks if the Catholic Church in Ireland is trans-inclusive and allows transmen to be priests. Cos transmen are men, amirite?

And if they allow certain biologically female people to be priests, why not other female people?

teawamutu · 20/01/2019 11:56

Great question, Popchyk. Glinner, if you're reading...

MadamBatty · 20/01/2019 12:10

Some of it is pre recorded I’ve seen an ad for it with Glinner being interviewed

AncientLights · 20/01/2019 12:14

The linked article, when listing Graham's form in this area, says he got money to Mermaids blocked. Bet he didn't know he was that powerful. In reality, he posted here on MN about the almost £500,000 which ever lottery proposed to give to Mermaids and urged us to write to question it. Which lots of us did and would have done whoever brought it to our notice. How accurate are the rest of their claims?Hmm

MadamBatty · 20/01/2019 12:20

The Irish media is very right on wokiness. Especially RTE. a lesbian pal will be in the audience. She’s been invited as the researcher thinks she’s a TRA. She’s not

Bluestitch · 20/01/2019 12:24

The Times wrote articles questioning the lottery funding for Mermaids and criticising the training sessions. Why is Graham getting blamed. Also seen a certain doctor this morning saying Mermaids have recently come under unfair scrutiny. Since when shouldn't a charity working with vulnerable children be scrutinized? I would have thought it should be mandatory for ANY organisation dealing with children let alone one advocating controversial medical treatment. How can a doctor be so blasé about basic safeguarding.

RedemptiveCrocodile · 20/01/2019 12:32

How can a doctor be so blasé about basic safeguarding.

They keep pushing the overton window. Push, push, push.

pachyderm · 20/01/2019 13:48

Can't bear to look at Irish woke Twitter at the moment; they are busy with the lies, misinformation and attempts to crush debate. Dickheads. Angry

TheBeastAwakens · 20/01/2019 15:05

I'm find it really difficult witnessing the bullshit going on on Twitter at the moment, trying to stop RTE from broadcasting Glinner's opinions. All the usual faces, including Colm O'Gorman, saying how difficult it will be for transchildren to go to school on Wednesday. Like terfs are trying to make children's lives more difficult when we're actually just trying to protect women and girls.

Some Irish people have got into such a cycle of smugness since the marriage ref and the repeal referendums and nobody seems to be able to see the difference between those absolutely essential human rights and 'transrights'. Everyone's trying to 'out-woke' each other. It's making me sick.

SunsetBeetch · 20/01/2019 17:02

Glinnet didn't bring out attention to it AncientLights, we were already talking about it.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 20/01/2019 17:05

As has been pointed out AncientLightshes mostly added to debate already here or brought things discussed to a wider audience.
He's not some god like leader to us all.

SunsetBeetch · 20/01/2019 17:08

Not having a go, just trying to correct this narrative that Glinner is our leader and we silly women do whatever he ssys.

SunsetBeetch · 20/01/2019 17:09

Cross posts, Captain Wink

TheBeastAwakens · 20/01/2019 17:11

Are there any prominent Irish women speaking out about it, though? I've only found one non-anonymous woman on Twitter.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 20/01/2019 17:11

You did it with much better punctuation than I.Grin

WhatToDoForTheBest2019 · 20/01/2019 17:49

Off the subject @Popchyk but the Catholic school I work at has just been sent a copy of the Transgender Trend resource pack by the area's director of education.
