And he did it with the most derogatory angry expression on his face.

i can't imagine the election winning labour of the sadly long past making such a mistake, and whatever he said, it would've been easy to shrug it off with a 'but I shouldn't have said that'

'What Jeremy said is what he said'. Four legs good, two legs bad.

countrygirl99 · 19/12/2018 13:53

Tbf he's hardly likely to call her a stupid man and questioning her competence is entirely fair. On the other hand he is utterly useless so as a country we are screwed either way.

Notevenmyrealname · 19/12/2018 13:53

I’m really sorry but what is the context for this? She is a woman and presumably she said something that he thought was stupid. Is it just because he’s a man calling her a stupid woman? I’m not picking either side here. He’s a ditherer, she’s a xenophobe, neither are particularly amazing.
I’ve never really understood this level of pickiness over choices of words. If she is a woman and she said something he thought was stupid, what’s the issue? I’ve called my daughter a silly girl today for knocking something over and I’m pretty sure my DH would have done the same if he’d been there. I genuinely don’t get why this is a problem.

arranbubonicplague · 19/12/2018 13:53

Tolaugh - that individual and collective narcissism piece is very thought-provoking.

The collusion of those in the Corbyn bubble that makes him think expressing this sort of language and misogyny is very disturbing altho' it possibly has more resonance with sectors of the general public than I care to acknowledge.

Stopwoofing · 19/12/2018 13:53

is what he said he said - yes, I love taking politicians at face value, they're so reliable.

BertrandRussell · 19/12/2018 13:54

I have to say it looks like “stupid people” to me. And I am reluctant to say that because it means I am agreeing with Julia Hartley-Brewer. Not to mention that anything which gets us a new Labour leader sounds good to me.......,

MargueritaPink · 19/12/2018 13:55

And when Mharie Black mouthed “you talk shite hen” that was oh so cool?

No it wasn't. Black is vastly overrated.

where are the posters who wanted corbyn in to #10, and said how bloody marvellous he was when i slagged him off on a thread and got flamed ? rethinking it now peeps ?

Corbyn has been a disaster from day 1. It would be a disaster if he became PM.On Brexit he has no policies and all he does is snipe from the sidelines.

impossiblecat · 19/12/2018 13:55

Where did the report of this come from initially? That would be more interesting than anything else.

bellinisurge · 19/12/2018 13:56

Is it just me or does everyone keep hearing the voice of Renee in 'Allo 'Allo "you stupid woman". About as effective a leader too.

DarlingNikita · 19/12/2018 13:56

It's not acceptable in the HoC but, on the other hand, he's not wrong, is he?

NB I can't stand him either and think he's a stupid man.

hackmum · 19/12/2018 13:57

May had just been goading Corbyn with his failure to call a No Confidence vote with the words: "He’s going to put a confidence vote – oh yes he is, oh no he isn’t. I’ve got some advice. Look behind you! They are not impressed and neither is the country.”

Would it have been acceptable if Corbyn had called her a "childish woman"? Because I can't think of anything much more childish than putting on a pantomime act in response to a national crisis.

PreseaCombatir · 19/12/2018 13:59

I’ve watched it ten times, saying woman and people along with it. It’s definitely woman. Anyone can see that.

impossiblecat · 19/12/2018 13:59

By misogyny, are people referring to trans issues? Not the same thing.

ABCagain · 19/12/2018 14:00

Ok have now watched this on a loop for ten minutes, i’m pretty sure he says Woman. Am not surprised the Man’s a Twat.

VickyEadie · 19/12/2018 14:00

Eh?

DarlingNikita · 19/12/2018 14:00

I agree, hackmum.

Bejazzled · 19/12/2018 14:01

In fact, why am I bothering. There is now going to be an invasion of Corbynistas telling us that this is irrelevant as Magic Grandpa is going to transform all our lives so we should just shut up and never criticize him

They're already here. Utterly pathetic deflection and denial in progress.

No, just the old-fashioned sort.

Usernumbers1234 · 19/12/2018 14:01

@impossiblecat

Do you mean the report of him saying this. I happened to see it first through a Guardian journalist, but it was literally everywhere in the press websifes and all over social media within seconds.

Apologies if I have the wrong end of the stick, but you cannot infer that this has been spun or leaked into the media agenda by someone with a vested interest.

He said it on live television, in front of the world, and the world is reporting it, not some one place with an agenda.

ABCagain · 19/12/2018 14:01

It is hard to tell though as his Lips are deformed with sneering.

impossiblecat · 19/12/2018 14:01

This story is being repeat ad Infinitum on the media right now.

The Tories have ran out of ideas so they do this. It was like the 'strong and stable' phrase.

VickyEadie · 19/12/2018 14:03

Nah. He's crap as a leader and an old-fashioned misogynist.

PreseaCombatir · 19/12/2018 14:03

Presumably the people who see nothing wrong with this would also have no issue with someone being called a ‘stupid Muslim bitch’ or a stupid black bastard’
Yep, thought not

Bejazzled · 19/12/2018 14:04

Where did the report of this come from initially? That would be more interesting than anything else

Why would that be more interesting?

It just happened live broadcast of PMQs for all the world to see. Andrew Neill and Laura Kuensberg (sp) were actually pretty gobsmacked. As am I with some of the reactions on this thread.

The live streaming of PMQ. the Guardian reported it. I assume the other lobby journalists did and even just viewers of the stream.

By misogyny, are people referring to trans issues? Not the same thing

What on earth are you on about?
