And he did it with the most derogatory angry expression on his face.

Apparently he said ‘stupid people’.

That is what his spokespeople are saying. Shame there is tv evidence that shows different.

gingercat02 · 19/12/2018 13:40

Fair enough she is stupid and a woman!

SillySallySingsSongs · 19/12/2018 13:40

I’m not sure if he said Women or People after watching Sky, either way I cannot stand the Man.

They have just shown a close up twice on itv news. Its woman.

MargueritaPink · 19/12/2018 13:40

According to Evelyn Glennie he said stupid woman.

AdamNichol · 19/12/2018 13:41

70s mindset for 70s racism whilst working in the grand altar of patriarchy

Racism? Fucking autocorrect, now you're misogynist too??

70s SEXISM

Fiddling while Rome burns...

The country is being shafted and people are talking about this????

Jesus Wept we've got the government we deserve!

ABCagain · 19/12/2018 13:42

Hands off Trish Ginger, she’s got more Balls than most of the Men in Parliament.

An awful little man, 'leading' an awful party.

AdamNichol · 19/12/2018 13:43

Fair enough she is stupid and a woman!

May is strategically naive and a poor leader. I wouldn't call her stupid though. And I don't believe in any way, he merely meant it as a factual description. It is a phrase loaded with more connotation than denotation.

SillySallySingsSongs · 19/12/2018 13:44

The country is being shafted and people are talking about this????

Strangely enough I can talk, think and care about more than one thing at a time. Can't you.

AdamNichol · 19/12/2018 13:45

and people are talking about this????

Yes, because the deluge of every day sexism, especially when cascading from what is supposedly the leadership of the nation is actually far more detrimental to the progress of both women and society in general than whatever policy matter of the day is under scrutiny - all that stuff washes out eventually anyway.

impossiblecat · 19/12/2018 13:45

You can and I can but the media can't at the moment.

No need to get personal, btw

Littlepond · 19/12/2018 13:46

Im not sure how this is misogynistic. Would “stupid people” be better? Or stupid person? Would it be this awful if TM called JC a stupid man? And when Mharie Black mouthed “you talk shite hen” that was oh so cool?

I hate all the childish nonsense that occurs between the two parties and I don’t think anyone should be hurling insults in the House of Commons, aloud or under their breath, but misogyny I don’t see. Petty nonsense, perhaps...

WomanLifeIsGoodish · 19/12/2018 13:47

We are only talking about it because he’s denying something that is on TV for the world to see.

SillySallySingsSongs · 19/12/2018 13:47

No need to get personal, btw

I didn't. HTH

VickyEadie · 19/12/2018 13:47

THis is FWR - we're concerned with feminism and therefore with sexism.

A Labour leader who posits himself - indeed, it's seen as his 'USP' these days - a real socialist has made a nasty sexist remark.

It's not enough for Corbyn to preach the bits of socialism he fancies - he needs to own and believe all of them or he's nothing more than a journeyman backbencher elevated to a position vastly in excess of his ability and experience.

paintinmyhairAgain · 19/12/2018 13:48

where are the posters who wanted corbyn in to #10, and said how bloody marvellous he was when i slagged him off on a thread and got flamed ? rethinking it now peeps ?

UpstartCrow · 19/12/2018 13:49

0:34 - his people don't know any people who can lipread?

SassitudeandSparkle · 19/12/2018 13:49

It's pretty clear to me what he says and I'm not a lipreader. His own party trying to claim he said something else is utterly shameful.

impossiblecat · 19/12/2018 13:49

"Yes, because the deluge of every day sexism, especially when cascading from what is supposedly the leadership of the nation is actually far more detrimental to the progress of both women and society in general than whatever policy matter of the day is under scrutiny - all that stuff washes out eventually anyway."

What, you mean like policies which reduce life expectancy, see an increase in infant mortality, falling education standards, erosion of employment rights, removal of social care....

But hey, someone may have called someone a stupid woman.

As I said, we've got the government we deserve.

bigKiteFlying · 19/12/2018 13:51

It is a phrase loaded with more connotation than denotation.

yes - that's the issue.

It's a phrase often used to shut up a usually middle aged woman not because of what's she saying but because she is daring to say anything.

I think it's telling especially combined with the anti semitic things that have happened.

impossiblecat · 19/12/2018 13:51

I'd still vote for him.

I'm a boring, prosaic old bag though. I like boring policies that keep people alive. I don't give a shit about mudslinging bollocks like this.

StarsAndWater · 19/12/2018 13:52

I'm going to disagree somewhat. I thoroughly dislike Corbyn and don't fancy making excuses for him, but Theresa May is presiding over one of the biggest political messes I've ever seen.
I think she is stupid tbh. She's been promoted way beyond her capability. It also wouldn't surprise me if Corbyn would say 'stupid man' in the same circumstances if we had a male PM.
Corbyn is quite clearly happy to allow rampant sexism to run unchecked in Labour so it's quite possible he meant it in a sexist way, but I don't think this is necessarily evidence of it.

TheGoddessFrigg · 19/12/2018 13:52

Im not sure how this is misogynistic

Okay- imagine he had said 'Stupid black' or 'Stupid Jew'? Why does the word 'woman' need to be there?

In fact, why am I bothering. There is now going to be an invasion of Corbynistas telling us that this is irrelevant as Magic Grandpa is going to transform all our lives so we should just shut up and never criticize him.
