(Apologies if the link isn't clicky, not done this before!)

Has anyone been before? I'd not heard of FiLiA before but what I'm reading looks pretty promising!

From the FiLiA newsletter:

FEMINIST PERSPECTIVES ON THE SEX TRADE

We have dedicated two panels to the topic of prostitution. One of the reasons that FiLiA chose to come to Bradford was the proximity to Leeds, where there is the so-called 'managed zone'. We are abolitionists - that is non-negotiable, and we are very grateful to speakers who are coming from Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Israel and Hungary to talk to us about the realities of the trade in Women (and Girls) in their countries.

Survivors and abolitionist activists - taking a Feminist perspective.

30 YEARS OF QUESTIONS
The Child and Women Abuse Studies Centre
The Child and Woman Abuse Studies Unit at London Metropolitan University has been creating new feminist knowledge for three decades. This panel chaired by Liz Kelly showcases the work of PhD and MA students, the challenging questions they are raising and the creative ways they are using to answer them. The presentations will cover: feminists from the global south on how funding fails to recognise their expertise; how men think about sexualisation of culture; how we are failing black girls in relation to Child Sexual Abuse / Exploitation

Speakers:
Jahnine Davis
Priya Nath
Maria Garner
Sarah Learmonth

Stephanie Davies-Arai’s on a panel, isn’t she?

AncientLights · 31/08/2019 06:53

Got my ticket. Looks like it's going to be good.

Jeanhatchet · 31/08/2019 06:58

I'll be there both days.

Am reading "Little Fires Everywhere" and so looking forward to the panel on Surrogacy. As well as all the other things. And all the women. And all the women talking. All of it.

Stephanie Davies-Arai’s on a panel, isn’t she?

Yes! She's on one with Heather Brunskell-Evans and Susan Matthews.

Is it women-only?
I couldn't see on the website

EmpressLesbianInChair · 01/09/2019 08:21

Is it women-only?

No, but the two I’ve been to have been overwhelmingly women (and I do mean women), and there are some women-only sessions.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 01/09/2019 08:37

Thanks.
Nice to know there are some women-only spaces.
I went to the old Feminism in London ones a while ago

iloveruby · 01/09/2019 08:53

Databreachnamechanger · 05/09/2019 15:04

Hello all, apologies for starting another thread- stupidly failed to see this. I'll be there again. I was with a non MN friend last year so didn't meet up with MNetters but would be excited to meet people this year. Pink carnations? Glitter deeley boppers? ☺️

thegallofher · 05/09/2019 15:23

What do the letters stand for? Couldn’t see on a cursory glance - educated guess F is for Feminism?

TinselAngel · 05/09/2019 16:10

I was thinking of getting a "radicalised by Mumsnet" T-shirt printed.

thegallofher · 05/09/2019 16:23

Thanks for the explanation Spartacus Smile

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 08/09/2019 15:25

Just bought tickets for me and DD.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 08/09/2019 15:43

Last year I remember recognising women at the hotel I was staying in by their T-shirts. And then it would turn out that we all knew each other online Grin.

And say hello to Julian & Lisa-Marie, the amazing organisers, if you get a chance.

getupgonow · 08/09/2019 22:46

@TinselAngel - I would wear that T-shirt!

witchesaremysisters · 11/09/2019 22:30

I forgot an important question....

Anyone going to the evening party on the Saturday?
