As it's Trans Awareness Week I wanted to give a shout out to all the old school Trans folk who are busy getting on with their lives and are not so vocal online.

Can we have women/girls awareness day?
It’s trans day every bloody day

There is a day I think?

Where men all over the world take the opportunity to say "what about the men?when is men's day waaaah snoffair" and richard herring takes the day out to tell them all that yes they have one and what the date is

Loads of men don't really like women / girls getting attention or things whatever things they are really is the bottom line

This manifests in a variety of ways

Wasn't last month trans awareness week?

No - I think it was the whole of the last couple of years.

At my work the LGBT+ is all about the T and only the T

While the recently formed womens group got changed to a gender equality groups for the empowerfulisation of all genders and the next event is focussed on men. Not black men or trans identifying men or poor men or disabled men just... Men.

Interesting isn't it.

This will go well...

As a Liberal Democrat there are few things about which I feel more strongly.

In the last year:

More than a third of trans people in the UK were victims of a hate crime
Two thirds have experienced depression
More than a third have self-harmed
Almost half have thought about taking their own life
More than one in ten have attempted to
The experiences of many Trans people is hard to hear.

And it makes me so angry, because it is 2018 and we should be better than this.

This week it is Transgender Awareness Week.

This week, Liberal Democrats will speak with one voice: Trans rights are human rights.

No I mean the majority of trans people who are not out to harm women and who have been the ones that have suffered most from the actions of a few. The people that really are brave and stunning like Miranda Yardley and Debbie Hayton.

Care to list the actual, factual sources for those wild claims, Pain? Given how there are few things you support more, I'm sure you have them to hand.

I'm sure you also have equivalent stats for women too, naturally.

Pain, if there really are “few things about which you feel more strongly” then you’re in the wrong job. You really are.

Sorry, not a Lib Dem, but I agree with the post...it’s 2018, we SHOULD be better than this!

Thingybob...this thread should stand as it shows we are not all in agreement, and I for one am fed up with the crap reputation MN is getting.

This place is getting more and more narcissistic by the day. Trans awareness week does not affect woman in anyway, you’re just being hateful.
Can you imagine this sort of nastiness on A thread for awareness of any other minority group.
