Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Antifeminist movement...

Spinflight · 21/08/2018 13:52

Seems to be gathering pace, faster than any other movement that I can recall..

Red Pill, MRAs, blogs and youtube channels seem to be springing up aplenty.

Can we put all of this down to misogyny or admit some failings of feminist thought?

OP posts:

''admit some failings of feminist thought''

care to elaborate?

arranfan · 21/08/2018 13:55

some failings of feminist thought

Any thoughts on what those failings would be? Failings of GC or liberal feminist thought? Government policies that intersect with feminism, women and children's rights? Or something else?

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 21/08/2018 13:57

I thought that feminist thought came down to fair play for all so I would say no. It’s not a fault with us.
I feel like women are having to stand up to abuses and threats that they shouldn’t have to.
I look at my DD now and think what are they trying to put into your head next term. I’m going to be asking too.

Permaexhaustion · 21/08/2018 13:58

Cracking OP, straight in with the first rule.

I feel like I just woke up late and it’s all kicked off while I slept in.

Spinflight don't mistake a sense of humour with an unwillingness to have a conversation.

If you've got a thought or a concern about feminism, please feel welcome to share it with us.

VickyEadie · 21/08/2018 14:25

Yes, tell us your thoughts, please.

TransplantsArePlants · 21/08/2018 15:07

Oh yes, it's because we've got wrong-think

TransplantsArePlants · 21/08/2018 15:10

Perma

I agree. I'm all side-of-head eyes

LangCleg · 21/08/2018 15:27

Sigh. Is it Weetabix hour already?!

VickyEadie · 21/08/2018 15:32

Still waiting here.

terryleather · 21/08/2018 15:35

I am blaming absolutely everything on the Notorious Weetabix Banana Horror, just so you all know...

CardsforKittens · 21/08/2018 15:36

How exciting! I'm always interested in discussing feminist thought! Which feminist thinkers have you read, OP? Beauvoir? Dworkin? Butler? I'm eager to hear your analysis!

UpstartCrow · 21/08/2018 15:38

Entitled angry men shouting about 'white feminism' =/= failings of feminist thought.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 21/08/2018 15:39

Sigh. Is it Weetabix hour already?!

Its never weetabix hour

VickyEadie · 21/08/2018 15:44

Weetabix are disgusting and putting banana with them isn't going to improve them one jot.

Juells · 21/08/2018 15:44

Yes

ADastardlyThing · 21/08/2018 16:03

There's only one thing gathering pace and that's the dawning reality on Joe public that there are a minority of people being very vocal about untruths and impossibilities, and how utterly ridiculous it is.

Great innit :)

TransplantsArePlants · 21/08/2018 16:03

Weetabix are asseptable (channeling Supernanny) only with full-fat milk and eaten quickly before they've had a chance to go soggy. Fact

This.

TerfAndSerf · 21/08/2018 16:08

There has always been an 'antifeminist' movement.

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 21/08/2018 16:19

My children love the mini weetabix with choc chips.

Oh what, sorry, are we supposed to be taking about feministing wrong?

Anyway, I'm more of a porridge person...

VickyEadie · 21/08/2018 16:22

I'm more of a porridge person for breakfast in winter, but during this fabulous summer, I've been having berries with Total Greek yoghourt.

I used to get the 0% fat (because otherwise all I could get was 10% fat), but my Tesco now does Total with 5% fat. Can I tell everyone that it's a complete game-changer - fantastic stuff.

TimeLady · 21/08/2018 16:27

Weetabix with banana is fine, as long as it's eaten before it gets disgustingly soggy. Cornflakes with banana is good too. Icy cold milk, obvs.
