Looks like Grindr are setting up a trans version... but the name...

They've chosen is "kindr".

Given the disturbing underground usage of the term "kind" is that not an odd choice?

They've not said exactly what the new app is but from the video it does imply it's trans-focused.

There is no way they are not aware of its other use. It was all over that manifesto put out on twitter.

DJLippy · 10/08/2018 20:08

Even if it isn't a paedo reference it's such a cunty name.

Because of all the big meanie gays with their hateful transphobic sexual orientations!

MrsFogi · 10/08/2018 20:08

And this is why people need to start speaking their mind in RL about the impact of the trans movement in its current form. Time to say that the Emperor has no clothes.

ADastardlyThing · 10/08/2018 20:09

Jesus just when I think it can't get any worse. That's so blatent.

ConfessionsOfTeenageDramaQueen · 10/08/2018 20:09

Here's the screencap from the manifesto (and Twitter commentary)

K-I-ndr does rhyme with Grindr but K-in-der rhymes with Tindr and you would have to be a moron not to realise that some people will read it that way. Why, if you are aware that there are people who associate your community with peodopholia, however unjustified that may be, would you not be more careful with your marketing?!

It’s almost like you want to encourage misunderstanding and persecution.

Or perhaps you are so punch drunk on societal coercion that it’s good sport to pull this nonsense in plain sight, knowing that the woke brigade will back you will defend any and every decision, uncritically.

SisterNotCisTerf · 10/08/2018 20:10

Is tinder a part of Grindr?

MrsFogi · 10/08/2018 20:10

Not kind to say that men have penises.
Not kind to question the right to self-identify at will.
Not kind for women to reject transwomen.
Not kind for a lesbian to reject a transwoman.
Not kind for a teenage girl or boy to reject a transwoman........

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 10/08/2018 20:12

I'm confused. I thought that a trans specific dating app was all sorts of exclusionary as trans women are women etc. Confused

What the actual hell is that confessions! ShockAngry

pombear · 10/08/2018 20:25

I agree that the name is questionable. Reading an article about it in The Advocate, I think this may be an interesting development in the debate.

www.advocate.com/people/2018/8/01/grindrs-kindr-first-step-fighting-sexual-racism

It looks less like a new trans app, and more like a campaign and changes to Grindr, to stop what they call 'sexual racism, and transphobia and body shaming'.

One that may finally stimulate an 'is it transphobic sexual discrimination or is it sexual orientation and preferences'' debate within the gay community.

This is like the flip side of a Riley J Dennis youtube edition.

I wonder whether a male equivalent of Magdalen Berns will emerge?

(Not that there could ever be an equivalent to the wonderful Magdalen!)

theOtherPamAyres · 10/08/2018 20:35

Is Kindr any relation to the slogan "kinder, kuche, kircher" (children, kitchen, church) adopted by Hitler and the Third Reich to describe a particular gender role? (Clue: not masculine gender role)

Whenever I hear Kinder or see Kinder chocs - I have an involuntary response of filling in the rest of the slogan. (Shiver, shiver)

Have they thought this through?

Datun · 10/08/2018 20:37

sexual racism, and transphobia and body shaming'.

This is people discriminating on the basis of either sexual orientation or preference.

Neither of which is up for question.

What's the alternative? Have sex with me, despite not wanting to?

That's rape.

Popchyk · 10/08/2018 20:37

So how exactly are they going to do the whole "Don't fancy fatties? Why don't you just shag one anyway in order to be kind?" thing?

Have they mentioned that?

Datun · 10/08/2018 20:44

Whoever's behind this is an absolute idiot. Or completely addled in their social media echo chamber.

No-one is going to accept a dating site called Kindr for men who self identify.

No one.

So who do we reckon is the 'face' of this new campaign, from the little snippet at the start of the thread? Who would think this was a great campaign to get behind, a kind of SJW for the masses & stunning/brave, ready to take on anyone they felt needed to be called out on transgressions?

Any guesses?

WaddIelikeapenguin · 10/08/2018 20:50

I thought it was satire but no it's what? Really bad market research or really good market research Envy

Bowlofbabelfish · 10/08/2018 20:52

This has to be a wind up surely?

OwThatsGottaHurt · 10/08/2018 20:52

OP that screen grab you posted is so so sickening. But how will it ever be accepted? There could never be consent!

Datun · 10/08/2018 20:54

Is it Monroe Bergdorf?

DJLippy · 10/08/2018 20:54

Dating preferences are not bigoted. Having sex with other races doesn't mean anything - look at all the mixed race babies born during slavery. Look at modern day sex trafficking.

If you don't find someone attractive don't have sex with them. Easy.

ILoveDolly · 10/08/2018 20:54

Does seem a bit...... ill considered. Although based on that snippet up thread also potentially sinister [envy
