They've not said exactly what the new app is but from the video it does imply it's trans-focused.

I cannot believe this.
In the horrible world out there, there are men (and women) who spend their evenings prowling websites to access child pornography, and using anonymous messenger apps to exchange images they have accessed or created. These individuals frantically normalise their behaviour to themselves, and they will use anything, any justification, in doing so. If this really is a proposed app, it is completely immaterial that it is not intended by its designers to legitimise child exploitation. The name in itself will contribute to the foetid atmosphere in which these individuals normalise, and joke about, their behaviour. It is grossly, hideously irresponsible. Is there any possibility it is just a (horribly misconceived) wind up? Because if not I think there’s an issue here that goes way beyond transgender issues. Please tell me this has gone away?

My second language is Dutch and Kinder means kids in Dutch. I cannot unsee this app as anything but sinister, given the nomenclature. Terrible bit of marketing.

At the very least we are doing everyone a favour by pointing this out. And it is a global app so the german/dutch pronounciation and/or meaning will not be uncommon.

Fuck that. The whole premise of marketing is to tap into associations conscious and unconscious. It's not much of a fucking leap from Kindr to Kind which is what child abusers call themselves.

I don't see why its an issue for gay men to say they do not want to shag female people, I mean, they are fucking gay, surely its a given that they don't want fanny? But to make out they are being big meanies for this, and have to have a separate app for gay men who do want female people (ie. bi men, not gay)...well. I am surprised that this is actually happening to gay men actually, seems lesbians were the only ones getting it, though I guess with so many lesbians giving into the pressure to be 'open to all' it was the next logical conclusion.

Ontop of this, the associations with kinder..as in kids, I don't get how any team of people could miss this. Maybe if it was a tiny independant company with only one person working on promo and that, but this will not be only one person missing it.

Is it phobic to write 'no fats, no blacks, no femmes'? It's pretty gross but it's upfront. What's the point in banning gay hookup app users from stating their exclusions on their profile? It won't help fat, feminine or black men get laid (or 'gay trans men' for all that).

Just had another thought. I'm a somewhat fat woman in my late 30s. I don't appeal to very young, gym bunny men, nor men who prefer slim women. I have a pool to choose from in dating but it's smaller than it would be if for example I lost 3 stone or I was willing to date a man over 50.

Do I whine about discrimination and exclusion? Do I fuck. I accept that I could be more dateable if I chose to be and accept that some men will never want to date me and that's fine. All this whining about gay men not wanting 'femmes' or fat blokes or blokes with a vagina is ridiculous.

Although that makes me uncomfortable, it makes me more uncomfortable for people to be told that certain preferences are invalid and cannot be applied when it comes to choosing a sexual or life partner.

Surely a wind up, can’t be real - how sinister if it is! The appropriation of ‘kind’ by paedophiles is sickening but fairly well recognised so choosing the name kindr is a huge problem

I also agree that it’s ridiculous to try to police someone’s sexual orientation. For example you can’t force someone to have sex with a transwoman if they are not attracted to someone with a penis or ‘neovagina’. For this to be labelled transphobic is completely entitled nonsense.

The racist stuff should be reported/ deleted but tbh wouldn’t it be better to know up front that the person saying ‘no blacks’ was racist, rather than waste time considering them and then finding out they are an arsehole??
