Looks like Grindr are setting up a trans version... but the name...

They've chosen is "kindr".

Given the disturbing underground usage of the term "kind" is that not an odd choice?

They've not said exactly what the new app is but from the video it does imply it's trans-focused.

Re dating prefences / sex orientation being "unkind" -

I hear more of the wheedling teen boys "go ooonnn pleeeease you might like it? How do you know if you won't try it" etc etc

Biologifemini · 10/08/2018 20:55

This must be fake news in a bid to discredit mumsnet readers.
There is no way anyone would consider calling a hook up service kindr - it is so wrong!

SturdyEarmuffs · 10/08/2018 20:56

My guess matches yours datun. Whoever it is, they're really not the sharpest tool, are they?

If you don't believe me google lantia or inter-racial porn. The most racist material available on the internet - happy as your like because you can do anything you want if it's a kink...

Someone is desperately trying over on twitter Hmm

SturdyEarmuffs · 10/08/2018 20:59

I've seen the tweet & watched the 10/15 second clip of a shoulder sparkling with glitter. It's real. Prick news also have a feature on it too, but I'm not linking (won't give them the clicks).

Yeah I’m somewhat sceptical of this - hold fire until this is confirmed. I mean frankly not that anything would shock me any more but this seems like a wind up. Surely?

Datun · 10/08/2018 21:02

It can't be true. You might as well call it toddler.

Urbanbeetler · 10/08/2018 21:02

I have been very gender critical but I can’t understand why you don’t leave trans people alone to set up their own dating app. They are being open and upfront. I have no problem with this and don’t doubt for a second that they mean kinder in the ‘ more pleasant’ sense. Why pour scorn?

Datun · 10/08/2018 21:02

Put it this way, if it is true they will be crucified.

Popchyk · 10/08/2018 21:03

But how does it discredit mumsnet users even if it is a wind-up?

Nobody has posted anything controversial on this thread.

Just a general bewilderment. How does that discredit mumsnet?

Datun · 10/08/2018 21:04

Urbanbeetler

Don't be silly. I'm delighted they're setting up a dating app.

But you can't, in all conscience, calll it Kindr.

You just can't.

Datun · 10/08/2018 21:07

Also you can't associate the word 'kind' with sex.

People must not be asked to have sex out of kindness.

Especially when they are routinely called bigots for their sexual orientation.

I mean, I honestly don't have enough durs here.

ILoveDolly · 10/08/2018 21:08

In fact, the very worst thing about the name is that it will leave them open to accusations that its a front for paedophilia, when it is not. Such a poorly thought out choice of name which will engender suspicion when there need be none.......

Urbanbeetler · 10/08/2018 21:09

This is what turns me off the feminism boards. I’m not ‘being silly’. I’m staying an opinion.

Urbanbeetler · 10/08/2018 21:09

Stating

Datun · 10/08/2018 21:11

My opinion is that your opinion is silly.

And I've explained why.

Can everyone give our resident lurking twits a wave 👋

We are being quoted and posted on twitter, just so you're all aware.

I know that visitors to FWR have increased from 15000 to 177000 in one year (which is greattt for advertisers), but I'd be genuinely interested to know how many were alerted via Twitter and TRAs.

Urbanbeetler · 10/08/2018 21:18

Of course we are, which is diverting focus away from the issues which actually affect women. This is a plop thread.

Course...what better way to spend your friday night than agreeing with feminists that to start a trans dating website called 'kindr' is surely too near the mark...unless you are saying they are disagreeing...in which case....erm...well...
