We've had a fair few reports from folks who've been quite upset by the thread title, so we're going to edit it now.

Yes let’s edit the cruelty of men out of discussion because it’s uncomfortable, of course!
I was in a dispute with a male friend recently about why women legitimately fear men. He called me sexist. I said ok, look at the news now, tomorrow, in a week, a month, 6 months, a year. I guarantee there will be at least one story of male violence every day, and it will most likely be against a woman or a child. Then in a year come back and tell me I’m wrong.
I’ll wait.

There's a link in the article to another saying that one of the rapists came back the next day to say they had had a nice time, so I think it is fair to say that they are not ashamed of their actions. What the fuck is wrong with the human race?

On any given day there are multiple reports in the news about male violence, sexual, physical, whatever, and it’s all become so fucking normalised because it’s so prevalent everyone becomes desensitised to it. Male violence should be addressed for the epidemic that it is, not sanitised and made more ‘comfortable’. Call it what it is

Male violence is a thing. It happens every day,every hour all over the world. It's not "people" or "humans" being awful..it has a name! MALE VIOLENCE.

No one is denying women can be violent but no one can deny the vast majority of violence and cruelty is perpetrated by men.

In the case of violence and cruelty perpetrated by women the reaction is usually "how could a woman do that/ how could a mother do that?" (I will admit to thinking that). This in itself just highlights how unusual such behaviour is and the fact that society , in general, expects better behaviour from women.

I say "expects" not in the sense that society has imposed higher standards on women but that women by their own behaviour have given rise to such an assumption.

Men are also the majority of victims too, I believe, which must be quite intimidating for non violent men. Especially as people don't usually step in to help men.

I think the fact that it was a sexual crime should have remained in the title MNHQ. Sexual violence is different. "violent attack" could mean kicked. Horrible but not the same still and I probably wouldn't have posted it in fwr.

I once saw an interview with a distraught woman crying because she'd been made to do one of those. The men asking for those videos are sick and disgusting. They are definitely a response to a male demand, organised by men with young women scarred for life acting out their perverted requests.

What depresses me almost as much as male violence itself is when even decent men try and wave it away as nothing to do with them. It is to do with them. It is their class committing - what are the figures, 90% of violent crime and 98% of sexual crime? I don't listen in or try and intrude on all-male conversations but I do wonder whether they ever sit around and ask themselves what's going on.
