Fucking horrific. And thank you to the Metro for publishing this act of sexual assault and animal cruelty under the "weird sex" section.

Honestly, what the fuck is wrong with men. How do 8 men find each other that would willing rape a pregnant goat to death? If there aren't loads of disgusting men out there how do gang rapes happen? coincidence that ab inch of disgusting bastards were together?

Ocean's 1!

Stillathing Flowers I think what you have described is very common in PTSD isn't it. And you're right that a universal trigger warning can't really account for that either. Hmm

Not sure what the answer is. I worry that on the whole we are creating a situation where we are all so triggered that we can't have a decent conversation about anything.

still Flowers

This story really upset me because of how vulnerable I felt when I was pregnant and how aware I was that if any man wanted to hurt me I’d have no chance and I’d be terrified he’d hurt my baby. I’ve no idea how much understanding goats have but they’ll know fear and they’ll know they’re pregnant.

I’ve a lot less understanding for men and the tiny amount of women that hurt and abuse children and animals than I had before I was a mother. I have no fucks at all and these types of stories really effect me a lot more than they did before I had my own dc.

yes, I felt the same way. I have to think all female animals must have a similar instinct as its in the interest of the baby for us to be protective of the pregnancy. I don't want to be overly graphic but I found sex painful in parts of my pregnancies and that is the bit that upset me most. Not to mention the goat wasn't physically designed to accommodate adult human male genitals.

Cruelty to animals upsets me more than anything. Animals know fear and they recognise those who will hurt them but they cannot rationalise or understand in any way what is happening , which makes it worse and they cannot stop it or escape

Agree with lass

OlennasWimple · 09/08/2018 23:32

I agree too, Lass

I'd go further, and suggest that the well known link between animal cruelty and violence towards humans is in part because those who do horrendous things to animals then go on to rationalise their violence against other people by seeing them as less than human (because they are female / gay / Muslim / not Muslim / "other" )

thebewilderness · 09/08/2018 23:36

Thanks, Fermat!
I did not know that.

Regarding trigger warnings, I disregard them now unless they give me a specific reason. Not just violence, but violence against child, is a warning I heed.
Sometimes I do not realize that I have been triggered until I am shaking ten minutes later. There is no effective way to warn everyone.

Regarding MRAs. If you waddle like a duck and quack like a duck the odds are that people are going to guess you are a duck. Misogyny training was given to us all which explains why there are what is called feMRAs.

LassWiADelicateAir · 10/08/2018 00:17

I'm sure you are right Olenna re the "less than human" aspect.

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 10/08/2018 05:09

In Australia the tragic case of the hand rape and murder of Anita Cobby has some truly awful details about bestiality and animal torture.

In DV case study, pets are often hurt by the perpetrators, in many cases women don't leave because they are afraid of what will happen to their pets. It's a sufficiently serious impediment to women leaving dangerous relationships, that most major animal welfare agencies offer emergency accommodation for pets.
