Fucking horrific. And thank you to the Metro for publishing this act of sexual assault and animal cruelty under the "weird sex" section.

Honestly, what the fuck is wrong with men. How do 8 men find each other that would willing rape a pregnant goat to death? If there aren't loads of disgusting men out there how do gang rapes happen? coincidence that ab inch of disgusting bastards were together?

Off topic (sort of) but does anyone have any thoughts on trigger warnings?

I appreciate the title was harsh, but "Pregnant goat dies after being raped by 8 men " is exactly what happened.

How else should I have worded it, to me it is obvious that on a site about feminism that rape will be discussed. I obviously don't want people with PTSD to think they can't engage with feminism but I don't see how else it can be got around? If it only said "trigger sexual assault" wouldn't that be saying much the same thing and bringing up the same mental images?

It's a bit like the way you talk around something to avoid a child understanding, but the adult you speak to knows exactly what you mean.

If I say "pregnant goat dies after assault trigger sexual violence" it might disguise what happened to an adult but you will think exactly the same thing. I do find it strange. I'm not a fan of Russel Brand but I once heard him talk about newspapers using asterisks to spell swear words. F**CK for example. He basically said that letters are there to create words, if you swap the letters to asterisk but I still read "FUCK" in my head, you have spelled fuck. Same sort of thing here?

Oh ladies. Do behave.

Y'all know that the goat should have got some Incredibly Sturdy Goat Trousers...our new product will be on the shelves as soon as the marketing dept have sorted out the international shipping schedule.

Also, I guarantee this will be more and more prevalent, what with all those Pansexuals about these days...what with Pan being a goatfucker and all.

GoldenWonderwall · 09/08/2018 10:49

I don’t know. I suppose no one wants to hear about poor pregnant goats being raped so they’d rather not see it. I think it’s a knee jerk reaction rather than a considered approach as it’s distressing, I don’t think it should have been changed - it’s been a headline in the newspaper.

I’d love to live in a world where men don’t do things like this. Whilst I do live in this world I reserve the right to discuss it, be angry about it and to call out the reasons why this happens. Too many men, too often and I’m sick to the stomach.

Yep

IDontEatFriedTurtle · 09/08/2018 11:18

true that was the actual headline, I hadn't thought about it. the truly fucked up thing is somehow it came up for me on pinterest, that was a bit of a shock. I expect it on FWR, and I expect it on basically every news article, but I definitely wasn't expecting it while looking at cakes and pallet crafts.

OP posts:
Rufustheyawningreindeer · 09/08/2018 11:54

Oooh pallet crafts

Gonna try and build a wine rack

But yeah...back on point, how the fuck did it come up on pinterest

IDontEatFriedTurtle · 09/08/2018 12:14

No idea.I think I have searched some stuff on vegetarianism/veganism lately ? the link was originally to one of those faux news type websites so I googled it to find a British news link and didn't want to use the DM.

IDontEatFriedTurtle · 09/08/2018 12:14

Good luck with the wine rack though!

stevejobsspectacles

First of all I am not an "MRA"

As far as I can tell from the various threads on here, anybody male that disagrees with the hive is quickly labelled an 'MRA'. Just ignore it really - its just one of their knee-jerk reactions.

LassWiADelicateAir · 09/08/2018 13:16

Men fear:getting laughed at by women, or having to pay child support to women

I'd say that getting stabbed, bottled, head stamped on, pint glass in the face etc are bigger worries and things that mainly happen to men

You missed out the reference in the original quote to "by women"

I doubt there are many men worried about getting stabbed, bottled, head stamped on, pint glass in the face etc at the hands of women.

Women can laugh at, sneer, mock or ridicule men - all not very nice - but they rarely commit acts of physical violence towards them.

Men that write posts that literally say "everything was made by men, we mad everything, women do nothing," are usually written by men.

I don't expect everyone here to agree with me or any sort of hive mind, but if you're on a feminist page to say women are shit and that men DID IT ALL you are probably a MRA. Or lost.

e, anybody male that disagrees with the hive is quickly labelled an 'MRA'

How do yiu know they are male?

Not that it matters, i always assume people are female on here Grin

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 09/08/2018 13:21

Oooh although turtle has a very good point

AngryAttackKittens · 09/08/2018 13:24

The whole "we did everything for you and now you owe us!" thing is a bit of a clue too.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 09/08/2018 13:26

Alright alright Grin

Ive obviously forgotten 90% of what steve said

AngryAttackKittens · 09/08/2018 13:28

Poor Steve, it must be distressing to be seen as unimportant by the women you're trying to lecture even after you went to the trouble of stealing a dead entrepreneur's specs.

sawdustformypony · 09/08/2018 13:28

Nobody is saying 'women are shit' on here as far as I know. Indeed, perish that thought.

IDontEatFriedTurtle · 09/08/2018 13:58

Ive obviously forgotten 90% of what steve said

Tbf at least that much was forgettable.

Exactly. I mean, it's like rubbishing Raffles or the Milk Tray man. Don't we women know a gentleman thief when we see one? Where's the respect from the women of today?

AngryAttackKittens · 09/08/2018 14:09

If Steve wants to live up to the Milk Tray man's legacy I'm expecting him to provide evidence of swimming with sharks at the very least.

Off topic (sort of) but does anyone have any thoughts on trigger warnings?

I find what triggers me to be really personal and specific and kind of peripheral to the actual traumatic events (certain smells, a hairstyle, a ringing phone, for example) so never quite understood a universal trigger warning. And despite having experiences of being a victim, what triggers me far more is reading about cruelty inflicted against any child of a similar age to my children at the moment of reading.
